Chapter 6

  Gina’s POV

I drove out of the hospital at a very high speed and tears rushed down from my eyes like a running tap, how could he do this to me? Does it mean everything he cares about is just his inheritance, oh stupid me, I kept assuming if we were together he would finally have feelings for me.

I noticed the police signs so I had to slow down and park quietly, guess I'm in trouble for driving at such a speed.

I pressed the window button to roll down and faked a smile after wiping off my tears, “Hi officer.”

“Is everything okay ma’am?”

“Yes office, I am sorry for driving above the speed limit, I guess I got too excited for a while.”  I lied with a smile.

“Can you please come down from the car?” He said, I just have to obey the police officer to avoid getting issues with them.

His other colleagues checked my car and they asked for my means of identification which I gave to them and one of them said, “You are Master Liam’s wife?”

I tried to answer but the words refused to come out, we are getting divorced so what response should I give now, yes I am his wife officer or no officer, we are getting divorced so I am his ex-wife, gosh this is so frustrating. I will just say I am his wife even if it hurts really bad.

I was about to give a response when the officer interrupted saying, “Yes she is Master Liam's wife, ma’am we are so sorry for slowing you down, you may get into your car.”

“Thank you so much officer,” I replied with a fake smile as I unlocked my car.

“Ma’am, please forgive us for troubling you.”

“Not at all officers, you all were just doing your job,” I replied as I fastened my seat belt on.

“Thank you so much ma’am, drive safe and leave a good word about us to Master Liam.” They waved at me and I drove off to the house and parked my car at the parking slot as I stared at the divorce papers already having Liam's signature on them.

I guess I don’t belong here. I walked out of the car and saw Mrs Sarah, “Madam Gina, I have been worried about you, have you eaten at all, come with me, I made something for you.” She said as usual with care in her eyes, I wonder what she is going to do once I tell her I will no longer be Liam’s wife.

“I am not hungry, I need to go to my room now,” I said to her.

“Is everything okay Madam Gina?”

“Mrs Sarah thank you for everything, can I ask you for a favour?”

“Yes, go on, ask me for anything and I will make sure to get it done immediately.” She assured me as usual.

“Mrs Sarah, can you drop the madam title and just call me Gina, I would appreciate it.” I smiled at her.

“I am sorry Madam Gina, I can’t do that, you are Master Liam’s wife and I might lose my job if I should call you by your name, I am just a maid here.”

“You might be working here as the head of maids but trust me when I say this, you played the role of a mother in my life and I will never look at you as a maid but as a mother figure."

“Talk to me Madam Gina, did something happen? Are you fighting with Master Liam?”

“It’s nothing, I need to go to my room now and get some things ready and please don’t stop me,” I said to her and left to my room backing the door behind me and falling to the ground as I became so emotional again.

He doesn’t even feel remorse for me at all, compensating me? I hate him so much.

I brought out my phone to book a hotel that I will be sleeping at night, I don’t think I can stay here tonight, I need time to myself to heal.

I started arranging my clothes in my bag when my room door opened revealing Mrs Sarah, “Are you going on a trip Madam Gina?”

“Yes, I am.” I guess lying will make her believe me.

“Are you sure you didn’t fight with Master Liam?” Damn it, I guess she is not buying it then.

“Why do you think I fought with him?”

“Because he called me not quite long.”

“And what did he say?” oh gosh, why am I so curious to know what he said, well maybe he might be reflecting on his actions and probably told Mrs Sarah to stop me from leaving the house as well, if that’s the case, I will act tough a bit and wait till he comes to me and ask for forgiveness,what the hell is wrong with me? Why am I so soft when it comes to Liam? Love truly made me stupid.

“He told me to prepare soup for Mariam and get a few things for her as well, he will be home soon to get them.”

“What? you mean he will run a thousand miles for her and will do everything to make her feel better and yet when I fall sick and end up at the hospital he doesn’t care at all.”

“Maybe he has his reason, ma’am, Master Liam cares about you.”

“Stop comforting me Mrs Sarah, he doesn’t care for me the way he cares for that lady, it is clear that he loves her so much,” I yelled and allowed the tears to flow again.

“Madam Gina, I..” I interrupted her saying, “You need to carry out the task he sent you, you know he hates delay when he gives an order, I will be fine.”

She left and I broke down again, I should have known.

A few moments later when I was done taking a few things of mine I needed, I heard Liam’s voice and stepping out of my room, I saw him and he glared at me giving me the chills all over.

“Why are you still here? Don't you know the meaning of I am done with you or you finally got your senses back that you needed the compensation?” He scoffed and walked closer to me, “I know you are all the same, tell me what you are worth for the years we have been together as husband and wife and I will wire the money to your account immediately.”
