Liam did not turn around to face them, “what is going on is that Olivia lost my child, and she is in a critical condition right now”
As the words about Olivia having a miscarriage sank into Scarlett's brain, she froze in shock. She recovered almost immediately and scrambled towards Liam on her hands and knees, “you know I could never push anyone down the stairs. I didn't even know that she was pregnant. Liam, believe me, I did not touch her”
She was almost close to him when Liam's men caught her and pressed her down. She struggled, but couldn't release herself from their stronghold. It was useless. They were not just werewolves, they were trained fighters, while she was just a regular girl without a wolf. She could not escape from them.
When Liam finally turned to face her, his face was cold and devoid of any emotions. He had never been one who smiled nor was one who expressed emotions, but Scarlett had never seen his eyes so cold before. She shivered as fear ran down her spine.
“You have been banished from this pack, Scarlett. The only reason why I'm letting you go is because of our past relationship and because our parents were close. Drag her out to the pack's border” Liam said the last words to his men before walking away.
Everywhere was silent for a second and when the words Liam said finally registered in everyone's head, there were gasps of shock.
“You can't banish me, Liam!!” Scarlett screamed with a crazed and frightened expression as she struggled to stand up and run after Liam, who had already disappeared out of the door.
“Let me go, you fucking bastard!” Scarlett yelled as she pounded on the back of one of Liam's men, who picked her up and threw her over his shoulder like a sack of rice. Some days ago, he wouldn't have laid his hands on her. They always bowed and treated her with respect, but all of that was gone now.
Tears poured out of her eyes as she was out of the pack house and shoved inside a waiting van. Scarlett was on her feet almost immediately. She tried to run out of the van to her father, who was held down by over five men to stop him from going after her. The van's door was shut, and she was pushed back to the floor, but not before catching a glimpse of Olivia's father. He was smirking at her.
By the time they got to the pack's border, which was not far from the pack house, Scarlett was a mess. Her face was streaked with tears, and she had snot running down her nose. Her breathing was coming out heavy and quick. Her eyes were red and her face, pale.
The same way she was dragged from her house to the pack house was the same way she was dragged from the van to the edge of the border. Scarlett did not struggle this time, as she had no strength left.
“The alpha wants you to have this. It's always given to anyone who gets banished” one of the guards threw a bag at her feet before all of them got into the van and drove off. Leaving her cold and alone.
Scarlett raised her hand to slap the bag away and scream that she didn't need their help but paused with her hands still raised. She did not know what was inside the bag.
She was out here in the cold without any money or extra clothes. She picked up that bag and tore it open. What was inside was a blanket and some money.
Scarlett turned around and took in her environment, all she could see was trees and snow. Fresh tears filled her eyes as she realized that she was alone. She was not going to be a rogue because she had no wolf, she was a normal human.
**
It's been four days since Scarlett was thrown out of her pack. Four days of her walking around and wandering alone without food or water.
As one who has never been out of her pack before or subjected to any form of suffering, Scarlett was already at a breaking point. She had spent her days and nights walking through the woods and wishing she could get to the end of the forest.
Throughout these four days, she tried hard not to think about her father and how he must be feeling right now. He had warned her and also tried to stop her when she wanted to leave the house, but she had refused. At that time, she only wanted to meet Liam and get them to solve their problems. She never thought that she could bump into Olivia.
She tried not to think about how her life which was set suddenly became like this; not finding her mate and getting banished from the pack. Even as she trudged through the forest, hungry and cold to her bones, she realized that she might die in the forest. She might never meet her father again.
Liam always told her that she would start attending meetings with him as his wife in the human world once she became his Luna. All of that was lost now. She would never become his Luna or travel out with him.
On the fifth day, Scarlett could not move anymore. If not for her series of training to become a Luna, she would not have gotten this far, but nothing could have prepared her for this. So far so good, she has not encountered any deadly beast or rogue in the forest. The luck that had deserted her in the days before her banishment came back.
Scarlett was grateful because she knew that she wouldn't be able to defend herself. Scarlett was almost at the point of giving up; falling to the ground and sleeping forever when she heard a sound: the sound of a moving vehicle, and Scarlett knew that she would soon find help.
The sound fueled her with determination to keep going, and when she saw that she had gotten to the end of the forest, she nearly collapsed to the floor to weep for joy.
She sat on the floor to rest and also wait if she would see any cars coming. It took her another full day before she saw another car, and she did not have the strength to get up to flag it down.
As the car drove past, her eyes squeezed shut and hot tears began to fall as she cried for the opportunity she had lost because of her weakness. She did not hear the car stop or when it began to drive back. She froze and fear crept up her spine when she felt a hand tap her shoulder.
“Hello, are you alive?”
It was a hard chore, but Scarlett was able to turn her head and open her eyes. A young man was standing over her and peering down at her in concern. She tried to speak, but her mouth was dried and lips patched.
The young man turned and waved at something or someone behind him, “I told you, she is alive, but she can't speak,” the man turned back to her and told her," we are going into town. I don't know how you got here, but do you need help? We can drop you off”
Scarlett nodded and then saw the man bend down and felt herself being lifted and carried off. She lay on the back seat of the stranger's jeep as it sped away from the forest she had been in for days and to a town where she did not know what was waiting for her.
“I wonder how she got there. There are no town or houses around there or even any village”
She could hear the two men discussing her. She was not supposed to sleep. These men were strangers, and she didn't even know them, even if they had just rescued her. They could be kidnappers or even rapists, but Scarlett was too tired to care. She was in a deep sleep minutes later.
Scarlett woke up minutes or hours later, she didn't know when she felt herself being carried out of the Jeep.
The man must have noticed that she was awake because he immediately explained, “we have gotten into town. We are in front of a small hotel now. You look like you need some rest, food, and you need to get out of these wet clothes”
As he explained, he kept walking," we are not staying in this town, we only came to pick up something. I paid for a room for you for a week, and I have asked someone to get you a fresh set of clothes. The people working here would help you change”
Scarlett continued to look at the face of the man, committing it to memory as he carried her into a room and dropped her on the bed. He was still speaking when she felt herself drifting back to sleep.
“Thank you” she murmured – outside or in her head, she didn't know before she gave herself up to the sleep that was beckoning onto her.
It's been two months already since two men rescued Scarlett and brought her to the city. Scarlett never heard from them, and when she asked the hotel's receptionist she did not get any meaningful information about who these men were. They not only paid for her stay at the hotel, they also asked the hotel to call a doctor for her and also got her new and warm clothes. After three days, she was able to get up from the bed and move about because of her werewolves blood.Scarlett did not have enough time, nor did she try to create one to sit down and think of her life. She wanted to forget everything like it was a bad memory. It was easier said than done. Not when she sees everything in her dream every time she closes her eyes. Not when every man who had dark hair and green eyes looked like Liam or every blonde-haired woman looked like the antagonist of her life story, Olivia. The money that was given to her by Liam was only enough to rent a small house in town and buy enough food to last
After doctor Imelda's words, all the colors drained from Scarlett's face, but she immediately shook her head in denial, “I'm not pregnant, doctor. I think you should conduct another test” she couldn't have gotten pregnant from that one night she spent with Liam, right?Doctor Imedal gave a tired sigh like she expected this and has gone through stuff like this countless times, “you are pregnant, Miss Scarlett. I'm very sure of it” she explained slowly.Scarlett clasped her hands together as she immediately made a decision. There was no way she was keeping the baby. Liam wouldn't want the baby, and she didn't either. There was no way she was going to give birth to Liam's child. She didn't even have enough money to feed. How was she supposed to take care of a child? She was not even emotionally stable, either.Scarlett turned to Mr. Bandini, “can you give doctor Imelda and I some privacy? I want to discuss something with her” Mr. Bandini was on his feet before she completed her words, “
Scarlett's eyes turned cold, “and who are you to tell me what to do?” It was okay if he helped her, but it was not okay to poke his nose in her business or try to tell her what to do just because he helped her.“Your friend” he told her before moving close to the bed, “why don't you use my phone to call him? You might not be together with him anymore, but no man would want his child aborted. You can work out something with him for the child. Believe me, you don't want to kill an innocent child because of the issue you have with the father. You might regret it for the rest of your life”Scarlett went cold at Alex's last words: you might regret it for the rest of your life, and she lost her appetite. She pushed the remaining food away from her.He seemed to have noticed because he immediately apologized, “I'm sorry if I offended you with my words. I'm just trying to look out for you and make you think twice about your decision. Regret is not something I wish on anyone, not even on my en
It's been three whole weeks since Scarlett found out that she was pregnant and decided to keep the child. Just as she thought, it wasn't easy for her. Doctor Imelda had told her the last time she went to the hospital for a check-up that she had noticed some abnormalities with the child, as it seemed like her baby was growing faster than a regular child.Scarlett knew that there was absolutely nothing wrong with her child. The only reason her baby was going quickly was because it was a werewolf baby. Werewolves gave birth faster than a regular human. She knew that she would go into labor at exactly seven months, but she could not tell the doctor that. There was nothing she could do about it, so she would just let them draw their conclusions when the time came. The pregnancy was not going easy on Scarlett as she not only had to go to work every day, she also had to battle with morning sickness and all the other troubles that came with being pregnant. She had nearly collapsed a few times
“Scarlett” doctor Imedal raised her head from the documents on her table to smile at Scarlett and Alex, “I'm glad you could make it”“Yeah, me too”“ I doubt you would have made it if I didn't come to drag you” Alex whispered for only Scarlett to hear, earning a glare from her.“Shut it” she snapped, making him snicker as they both took a seat in front of doctor Imelda.Scarlett had missed her appointment twice when she forgot about it. She did not have a phone and refused the one Alex bought for her, so he couldn't reach her; he went on a business trip. On her next appointment after that, doctor Imelda had not been happy and had told her countless times about why she should not miss her appointment again: her pregnancy did not look normal to doctor Imelda and her body was not well, she needed to be monitored.“Alright, let's move to checking the baby to see if he or she has decided to reveal their gender”With a deep sigh that was released through her mouth, Scarlett stood up and wal
“What do you mean when you told doctor Imelda that you would take the matter of me not doing laborious work up with me?”“ You understand what I meant, Scarlett. Doctor Imelda is right. If you want both you and the baby to be fine, then you need to stop stressing yourself "“ I need to stop stressing myself” Scarlett said with a sarcastic smile, “I have to stop stressing myself then who would feed my baby? The only thing that's stressing me is my job, and if I stop that, who would feed me and my child? Would manna fall from heaven to us?”He was about to start the car but allowed his hand to drop from the ignition key to his lap. He moved on his seat to face her the way the seat belt could allow him before dragging him back,” Of course it wouldn't, but I can be bringing you manna every day”Scarlett looked away from him to face the window, “Don't start with me, Alex. I have already told you before that I wouldn't be accepting more things from you. You have done more than enough for me
“Scarlett,” Alex called as Scarlett took off her seatbelt and was going to step out of the car in front of her house. She stepped down first before turning to look at him, “Yes?”“Remember what doctor Imelda said,” he raised a hand when he saw that she was going to argue, “It if for your own good, and you know it well”Scarlett sighed dramatically, “I know but… “ He cut her off, “no but's. I have a preposition for you”“ What preposition?” She bent and shoved her head back inside the car, so she could hear him properly without straining her ears and also see his face while he spoke. Alex's eyes widened in panic at what she was doing, “Hey, don't do that. Let me come out instead.” He took off his seat belt and stepped out, ignoring her eyes roll as he slammed the door shut and walked to where she was standing on the opposite side of the car.“What preposition?" She asked as she gazed up at him with arms folded across her chest. “We need to sit and talk about this.” He had hoped tha
“Okay, fine. I will be coming with you”Alex went still for a moment. Shock could be seen in his eyes before it changed into excitement. He leaned over to grab her hands in his, “Do you really mean it?”“Yes” she couldn't contain her smile in the face of his happiness. It was contagious. “That's so good." Alex felt like jumping to his feet and pumping his hand in the air to show just how excited he was but felt like it would be too much, too feminine, so he contained himself and remained seated as he released her hand from his.“When are we going?” Scarlett asked. Though he just told her about moving, and she just accepted to do it, she was already looking forward to it.Scarlett was already tired and bored with this small town. She had wished so much in the few months that she had been here that she would leave for another bigger City, but more that it was impossible, especially as she had no money. Here was an opportunity, she won't allow it to pass by her. She would be a fool if s
