"You ready to go, Dyl?" Callum asked from behind my door.
"Wouldn't you like to know." Amy scoffed, as she applied setting spray to my face.
"I'll be out in a second!" I yelled out to him.
Tonight was the my debut as an official member of the Black Women In Society Organization. I asked Amy to do my makeup for tonight since she had done such a great job on my birthday and Halloween.
Callum was driving her and I to the hotel where the event was being held. My father, his wife, and her daughter already went ahead of us; while my grandparents had gone earlier to greet guest. Everyone was going to be there tonight to see me come out, Callum's family, Hector, and my cousins Nessa and Marcus.
I was kind of nervous about everyone meeting each other for the first time, especially my cousins meeting my father and grandparents. Luckily I wasn't going to witness any of it, as I wouldn't be sitting near them at the ball.

Callum's POVAs I checked the door that Dylan had scurried out of for the hundredth time, I knew that something was wrong. She had been gone for almost 20 minutes now, and it was starting to worry me. Finally, I got up and went to her family's table."Do you know where Dylan is?" I asked her dad."I'm pretty sure she's in the bathroom." He said."She's been gone a while, don't you think?""You can't spend five minutes without your precious Dylan?" Mel commented from across the table."No, no I can't." I responded bluntly.I walked away from their table, and went to grab Amy."Can you come with me, I need you to check on Dylan in the bathroom." I said to her."Sure, no problem." She replied."I'll come too." Nessa said, jumping to her feet. The three of us walked out of the ballroom and followed the directions to the women's restroom."Let me know if she's okay." I told them before they walked into the
My stomach had finally stopped making noises. All I felt now is a dull ache where hunger had been.My lips were dry and cracked, and dried blood still remained on my head from Kelly knocking me out days ago. When I first met her, I could tell that something was a little off. Her drugging Callum and myself had only confirmed that. But now, I realized that there was something very wrong with her. Some form of mental illness that made her truly deranged. She'd come to see me in the cellar every day, giving me a bottle of water and a handfull of crackers as if I was a pet bird she was forced to feed.It had been a little over two weeks, and I was still in my same gown from the debutante ball. It was filthy, as was I.The only bathroom that I had was a bucket
Callum's POV"Cal, someone is here to see you." My mom said, peeking her head into my room.I shut my laptop and looked up at her."Who is it?" I asked. She pushed my door open, revealing the person standing behind her.I wouldn't say I was shocked to see him, I figured he'd make an appearance sooner or later. But I much rather he'd stayed where he was."Justin. What are you doing here?" I snarled."I'll let you guys talk." My mom said, quickly making her exit.Justin stood in my doorway, staring at me, not saying anything."Well? What the fuck do you want?!"Taking a deep breath, he finally took a step into my bedroom. "I want to help you find Dylan."Of course he did."Take a seat." I grunted, pointing at my desk chair. He sat down, shifting in his seat as if he was uncomfortable."My stepdad told me you were doing your own search. Outside of what th
Justin's POVI looked into the hallway of the birthing suites, watching Steve talk to a police officer. I walked out of the suite towards them, hoping that there was news on Dylan.Steve turned to me, his eyes brimming with tears."What's wrong? She's gone isn't she?" I asked, my voice cracking. My heart stopped and I felt myself beginning to cry."No," Steve shook his head crying. "She's here, she's hurt but she's here, in this hospital.""Where? I need to see her."The officer cleared his throat before speaking. "As I was told Mr Gold, we need to get a full picture of what went on before anyone can see her. I would like for everyone that is close to Miss Gold to come down to the station."This man must be out of his mind."To be honest with you officer, I couldn't give a fuck what you want. What room is she in?" I demanded."Justin calm down." Steve said to me, put
Callum's POVEvery word that came out of Detective Clarke's mouth rattled me to my core."The car that Dylan was found in was registered to a Bryan Kim.""Mr Kim was found locked in your family's wine cellar.""We believe Miss Gold was held there by the Kim's.""We have yet to apprehend Kelly Kim, but we are still looking."Dylan had been in reach this entire time. Kelly took her because of me, and she'd been at the cabin all along. This was all my fault."Can we see her?" My mom asked, her eyes pleading with him. She was visibly shaking, and I understood how she was feeling. She saw Dylan as her daughter. He nodded. "She is now allowed to have visitors. We will keep an officer outside of her door for the duration of her time in the hospital for security purposes."I'd been looking for her for close to a month, and now I
I had been going in and out of consciousness for the past two days. I still couldn't open my eyes, but when I was coherent, I could hear every word, feel every touch, and wanted nothing more than to wake up and tell everyone that I was okay.Everyone I cared about came to visit me, even some that I didn't care for. My grandmother would kick everyone out of the room when she visited, she'd sit beside me and stroke my hair, detailing all places we would go together once I woke up. Even in the state that I am, I had never felt closer to her.My father didn't speak to me, which I understood. He spent most of his time yelling at my nurses about frivolous things that I could care less about. He didn't speak, but I could hear him cry. Most of the time it was muffled, but sometimes, loud sobs. It was the worst part of my coma, that, and hearing Callum cry.My cousins visite
Amy left before Callum arrived so that him and I would have privacy. The hospital had called my father, who was also on his way. I was excited to see him, but I hoped that Callum would come before he did.I couldn't wait to see Callum. As I lied back, trying to stretch my legs, there was a knock on the door."Come in." I called out, unable to see who was at the door.A woman walked into the room. She wore an expensive looking red dress with a white lab coat over it, and thick black framed glasses.A man walked in behind her, he looked to be in his mid thirties wearing a dark blue suit."Hi, can I help you?" I asked the both of them."Hi Dylan, I'm Dr. Scott. I am a psychiatrist here at the hospital, Dr. Hines sent me to pay you a visit. Is it okay if the detective here asks you a few questions?" She asked.I looked back and forth between t
"So I'm cleared? I can go home now?" I asked Dr Hines.I had been concious for a little over a week now, and I was finally beginning to feel like myself again. My body was getting back to normal, and all I wanted to do was be anywhere but the hospital now."You're cleared from me, yes. Your physical injuries should take a few more weeks to heal; and with a steady and consistent diet you should be back to your normal weight soon. However, Dr Scott still has some concerns about your mental state." He said."My mental state?""Her mental state?" Callum and I said simultaneously.Dr Hines nodded. "Until she clears you, you're stuck here with me." He smiled sadly."But I'm fine, really. I think it's time I go home. I miss my bed, and my books, and my shower." I ranted.Callum held my hand. "I can go to your house and grab some books if you want."I shook my head. "I want to be able to
6 months later“So do you wanna grab lunch after your class? I don’t have class until 2:30.”“I have a meeting with my advisor at 1 so it’ll have to be after that.” I said, double checking my schedule on my phone.“Okay great, that works. Text me okay, and good luck on your first day.”“Thanks Davia I will, and good luck to you too.” I replied, waving goodbye to roommate.Still having fifteen minutes before my first class started, I took my time walking to the english building so that I could really take in the campus. Students were spread throughout the quad, some reading, some talking, and a few people napping. As I looked around, it was clear to me th
“Can I take you out to dinner tonight? We can drive up to Sunset and go to Bossa Nova or something.” Callum asked nervously.I took a sip of my seltzer water and shook my head. “I’m sorry, I can’t. My dad has a meeting out of town and I have to watch Spencer after school.”He frowned. “What happened to his nanny?”“I gave her the day off, I wanted to spend more time with him.” I said.He looked down and rubbed his hands on his jeans.“Is everything okay Callum? You seem off.” I reached over and touched his cheek. “We can hang out later tonight if you want, Spencer’s night nurse should be at my house around 9.”“I’m fine, really.” He smiled. “And 9 is good. Can you come over to my house?”I nodded and stood up. &
“How do I look? Be honest.” I asked my father.“Dylan you look perfect.” He said, obviously.“No seriously Dad, are my bruises covered up well? I don’t want to look crazy over there.”He laughed. “As I said, you’re perfect. You did much more damage to the girl than she did to you. I can’t even tell you’ve been fighting.”“Okay, good.”“But no more fighting, right?” He asked, his brows raised.“Nope, but this one was a long time coming.” I smirked.“You know what, it really was.” He laughed.
“I’m so glad you’re back.” A blonde girl in my American history class whispered to me.“Do I know you?” I asked, confused. She looked offended by my question, and said “I’m Alice, I’m on the cheer team with Mel.”I stared at her, still unable to recognize her.“I was at your birthday party.” She stated, obviously. The bell rang, saving me from further interacting with her. I quickly put my things into my bag, and bolted out of the classroom.“Dylan.” I heard, the second I stepped into the hall.“Callum.” I smiled, turning around to him. I could tell he was upset with me by his tone.
“Do you want me to pick you up?” Callum asked nervously.“No, Amy’s on her way to get me.” I said, double checking my hair in my rear view mirror.“And you’re sure you’re okay?”“Yes Cal, I’m fine. I told you, I was just tired. I’ll see you at school, alright?” I said to him.“Okay, I love you. I’ll see you soon.”“I love you too Callum.” I responded, before ending the call.I felt bad for lying to him, but if I told him where I was really going I knew that he’d try to stop me. I approached the building, and saw Detective Clarke standing outside waiting for me.“Thank you
6 weeks later“Wow.” I said, staring at myself in the mirror. My long, dark curls were now shoulder length and honey brown, with blonde highlights. I looked completely different, which was exactly what I was going for.“You like?” My hairstylist, Monica said as she added volume to my hair with her fingers.“I love, thank you so much!” I grinned at her in the mirror.“Of course my love, and it’s on the house.”“What?” I said turning around to look at her face to face.“All I ask is that you post a picture of your new look on instagram and tag the salon.” She said.
My psychiatrist, Dr Scott, sat in my hospital room just as she did everyday for the past two weeks, and just stared at me. In silence.“What do you want me to say? I already told you everything that happened. What more do you want?” I was becoming increasingly irritated with this woman. Every day it was the same thing. I recounted my kidnapping, and my feelings towards Kelly. I had nothing left to say about the situation, I only wanted to forget it.“Let’s talk about the light situation.” She said, pushing her glasses up.“What light situation?” I asked, confused.“Well, since you came out of your coma, you haven’t been able to sleep in the dark. Your room light has been on every night for the last two weeks.&rdq
