Heart-wrenching Betrayal.

REINA

I raised my head to find my husband, Ethan walked into the living room, arms tucked together with my step sister as I clutched tightly on the wiper I had in my hand as my heart wrenched in pain at the sight.

“You’re back….” I tried to ignore the sight of my husband being so close with another woman and tried to welcome him warmly but he slammed a file on the table, Interrupting me coldly. “Sign it.” He commanded as I saw the smirk on my step sister’s face.

My gaze diverted to how she held onto Ethan. This wasn’t the first time I have seen them been so close. I have had to endure the sight of them always together for the past two years even when he was married to me.

I bent down to pick the file and opened the driest page. It read Divorce agreement! The file slipped off my hands due to choke. “What the hell are you doing?! Sign the fucking papers and get out of my house, you filthy whore!” My husband breathed in rage, impatience tinged his voice as I raised my head slowly to look at him.

“I can’t….”I replied in a shaky voice. “I can’t sign it Ethan. I…” Before I could complete my statement, he rushed towards me and grabbed my neck in a state of frenzy. “Ethan, please. I really can’t….”

He gripped harder to my neck, making it impossible for me to speak further while I held onto his hand, looking to remove his hand but he was too strong, too angry. Just what have I done to make Ethan hate me so much?

“What makes you think I am giving you a chance, you whore?” He seethed. I tried to breathe with his hard grip on my neck as my thoughts drifted to the moment when the doctor had told I had conceived twins two days ago.

I have been looking for the perfect time to tell Ethan the Good news. But he has been out on a business trip. And now, he was back. But instead of me getting the opportunity, I was served a divorce paper out of the blue.

“I am preg…..” “Shut the hell up and sign the damn paper! Your presence in my life is so suffocating!” He yelled at me and flung me on the nearest sofa. I quickly sat up and fell on my knees in front of me.

I could hear the giggling of my step sister now. The conniving witch. “She is just so shameless. First she got into your bed in order to become the lady of the Walter family. Now she is begging to keep that position.” Ravenna chuckled mockingly.

I quickly sprang up from my feet. “I didn’t get into his bed intentionally and you know it Ravenna! I was also drugged too like him and I we ended up spending the night together!” I defended. Even though I have rang this in Ethan’s ears for the past two years, he never believed me.

“And why didn’t say no when my grandfather forced us to get married after that incident? Uh?” Ethan asked with a pissed expression. “Because….”I stopped halfway because I know he would never believe my reason.

This man, who has only seen me as a manipulator for the past two years won’t believe I have loved him before we had spent a night together. “Answer me!” Ethan roared as I flinched, forcing to hold back the tears that threatened to spill at that moment.

“Because I love you, Ethan. I love you…” “Another word about you loving me and I swear I am going to kill you!” He pointed angrily at me as I pressed my lips together in fear and bowed my head.

No matter what, I needed to keep my kids safe. First, I need to secure my position as Mrs. Walter or I’ll lose them. When the doctor told me of my pregnancy, he also told me the underlying condition one of the fetus.

It had a heart disease and would need a critical surgery that would cost fortunes. That was why I needed Ethan. Leaving was no option. I raised my head slowly to meet his gaze to find him pointing a picture to my face.

It was a picture of me with another man in a hotel room.

“This…”

“Is you whoring with some man.” Ethan returned as I shook my head.

“I swear to you Ethan. I didn’t…”

“You want to deny?”

“This isn’t…I will never sleep with other men!” I cried out.

“Oh shut up! The evidence is right here for everyone to see.” Ravenna sneered in rebuff.

When our gaze met and she winked coyly at me. I realized this was her doing. Two days ago, I had gotten a call from Ravenna to come save her at a hotel.

Even though I and Ravenna didn’t have the best sibling relationship, she was still my sister.

The moment I had entered the hotel room, I had lost consciousness. When I woke up, I was in bed naked and I couldn’t help but think what had happened.

It seems Ravenna had intentionally set her up.

“Ravenna set me up, Ethan! She asked me to come to the…”

“Shut up, you liar!” Ethan slapped me as I fell on the sofa.

I immediately sprang up again. I would not be brought down so easily. I needed to fight for my kids.

If Ravenna wins this round, Ethan would never believe the kids are his.

Worst case, he would ask to wait till they are born to perform a DNA test.

What my child needed isn’t a DNA test, but an operation.

And Ethan would never help treat it if he feels there is a slight possibility that the kids might not be his.

This is how heartless he is towards me. But I had never stopped loving him even for a day.

Asides from that, Ravenna was going to do everything possible to kill my unborn children during the period of pregnancy.

“You never listen to me nor investigate whenever I get to tell you a thing! Why Ethan!”

“You have never meant anything to me! You are just a filthy whore my grandfather forced me to marry! The two years conditions he gave me are up, now sign the damn papers!” Ethan retorted angrily as my tears intensified, hoping he would just let it pass and listen to me.

“I have something to tell you, Ethan.” I said in a pleading tone.

“To hell with you and your words, Reina. Now sign the damn papers.” He pointed at the file as I closed my eyes and instinctively moved my hand to my stomach.

“Sign it, whore.” Ravenna’s sly voice cut into my thoughts as I opened my eyes slowly to find her grinning.

“It’s high time I take my place as Mrs. Walter. The position you stole from me.” She said slyly.

“I never stole…”

Ravenna pushed me before I could say anything as my tummy hit the edge of the table. A sharp pain sprang from the hit as my eyes widened in shock.

My kids!

“What were you saying? Hmm? Let me hear you try to claim Ethan as yours again!” She pulled on my hair as I cried, still reeling from the pain of her push.

She let go of my hair when Ethan gently asked her to let go.

That was when I felt something sticky between my legs. Blood! I was bleeding and my children were at risk of dying!!!

“Ethan…Take…me….to…the….doctor…..please.” I whimpered as I gazed up to Ethan while sprawled on the floor, weak and helpless.

Ravenna walked to me and used her heel to press on my stomach. “You’re bleeding uh? How about we intensify the rate of bleeding?” She intensified her weight on my tummy.

“Noooo!!” I cried but Ethan only watched as Ravenna laughed out hysterically.

“Let her be.” Ethan said to her when the damage had been done as Ravenna stepped back, looking angry.

“Babe!” She whined as Ethan rubbed her cheek.

“It would be a hassle if she dies here, you know that?” Ethan kissed her forehead to pacify her while I whimpered in pain.

When Ethan finally turned to me, I thought he had wanted to help me but as he squatted, he picked my second finger, placed it on my blood on the floor, and kneaded it on the divorce papers. My shock knew no bounds as I stared at him.

“I am going to go out now with Ravenna. And the moment I get back, I don’t want to see your filthy self in this house. Do you understand?” He said coldly.

“No, No, No, Ethan, your….”

He slapped me again as I fell, this time moving was hard as the pain from my tummy numbed me.

“Go to hell, Reina.” He said and stood up.

I watched with blurry eyes as they walked away.

“Please….” I pleaded for help continuously but none came.

So disgusting to see these weak wives leading their cheating husband and those assholes are violent jerks. This is domestic violence and it's unacceptable.

REINA SIX YEARS LATER As I catwalked with confidence, my suitcase beside me in the airport lobby, I scanned for any sign of Bruce, and there he was with a cardboard over his head that read “Welcome Back, Reina.” I smiled and walked up to him amidst the crowd of people waiting for their loved ones. “Welcome back, Reina,” Bruce greeted, hugging me. “You look….” “Hot?” I winked, finishing his words as he nodded with a chuckle. I smiled, flipped my hair backwards, and removed my sunglasses. “Of course, I can’t still remain the same old Reina they knew before.” I chuckled, and Bruce understood exactly whom I was referring to. “I am just happy you are living well, Reina.” “Living well?” I asked as he took my suitcase, and we headed out of the airport. “I am not living well, Bruce. Not until I have my revenge on those who killed my child,” I said with a chilly smile as Bruce opened the car door to the sleek limousine he had arranged for me upon my arrival. As he settled in beside me

REINA I pushed him away when it seemed I had had enough and shot him a glare. “Even if you are a fan of mine, you should restrict yourself from acting so irrational in public, Mr. Steele,” I said through gritted teeth to show how I was pissed at his behavior. “What are you saying, Reina? You’re my wife,” Ethan immediately replied like a little boy who was trying to defend himself when he was already caught in the act. Director Steve's eyes widened at the revelation while my body stiffened in rage. “Ex-wife,” I corrected with a cold tone and smiled when I saw the overall shock on his face. “You know each other before?” Director Steve chimed in. “Yeah, she is…” “Don’t make that mistake again, Mr. Steele. My girlfriend doesn’t appreciate her ex trying to claim a certain ownership over her,” Bruce slipped his hand around Reina’s waist as Ethan chuckled in disbelief and his eyes diverted to the hand Bruce placed protectively over me. REINA “You can’t do this, Ravenna.” Ethan made to come close to me, but Bruce blocked him with his hand. “Keep a safe distance from my girlfriend.” “She is not your girlfriend. She is my bloody wife, now you stay away.” Ethan snapped at him while Bruce's stance remained firm. “Don’t act so cute, Ethan. My Sterling Group is as powerful as your Walters Group, so don’t command me like one of your lackeys or I’ll really get pissed,” Bruce warned. When Ethan saw how serious Bruce was, and the small probability of winning against the heir of the Sterling Group, he stepped back but still had his eyes on me. “Can we have a brief talk? Alone?” I could see the pleading look in his eyes. Like hell I cared. “No,” I replied. “If it is about the project, I won’t change my mind.” “Ethan….” Ravenna grabbed Ethan’s arm, who was completely uninterested in her at that point. “Ignore this wench, I will create another project and head it to save Walters Group, trust….” Ethan brushed her off as she

EthanMy knees were almost scared because of how long I had been kneeling in front of Reina.I knew what I wanted and it was her. Yes, I was not going to allow this opportunity to get past me this time.“Listen to me, Reina. Can you please allow me to explain myself?” I asked her and she just sighed out loud. The sigh was so loud that I knew that she was not feigning it when she said she hated me.Her look, her attitude, everything about her portrayed so.“Can you please stop calling me?” she demanded, blasting her angry words against my ears. “Just listen to…”I could not even get to complete my sentence when her angry rage overpowered me, cutting me short from whatever I was saying.“What are you going to tell me now that is different from all the garbage that you have told me?” she thundered.I raised one of my knees from the ground and stared at her in the eyes. Those eyes were still as pretty as ever and it has not changed ever since.I was half-kneeling now and the only thing I

ReinaI have been presented this particular document countless times but, I was taking pains to read it again because of formality sake.My inner spirit wanted to throw the documents back at him but he had done what I wanted him to do for me.I was reading the documents thoroughly when something struck my mind. How could I have forgotten such a thing and gone ahead to read his stupid documents? I almost slammed my hand against my head but I held myself. He should not see me doing this. I bet a lot of things would go through his mind.“I forgot something,” I blurted out after clearing my throat of anything that would obstruct my talking.“And that is?” He asked, staring blankly at me. His face has fallen with frustration eating deep into it. He had no idea what I was going to say next. But, I was glad. I was not in any way making this easy for him. This time, he was already on his feet, all his kneeling act had come to an end because to him, he had gotten what he wanted from me.“Oh,

I wore a wicked smile throughout because I knew what was going to befall her as soon as she came in.Although, my mind wandered a little bit and I wondered if Ethan did not inform her about his agreement.I bet he did. Her proud head would decide not to come in here and do what she is supposed to do.I was about sitting in my chair when the door opened, revealing Raveena dressed in a skimpy dress and heavy makeup. She didn't greet me, rather she walked past me with her shoulders all raised up.“I know that you must have seen that I am the boss here, young lady,” I reminded her and she just flipped her long hair. That young lady sounded disrespectful to her ears but I did not care. ETHANRavenna came in, flinging her bag on the bed, I stared at her outrageous character as she walked in.“Are you okay?” I asked her and she just murmured something that I could not hear.Fine. I shrugged and fixed my eyes on the television in the living room. She was the last thing on my mind right now. I just prayed deep down that she cooperated and Reina was pleased with her.“You don't even care!” she yelled at me and I laughed. This lady was crazy and I need to prove to her that she is really crazy.“What is the problem? You worked with Reina right?” I asked her.“It's obvious, Ethan. You want me to work with her for your own selfish game, that was why you didn't care to ask me how I felt,” she lamented. After she said all that, I knew something must have gone wrong somewhere but she didn't want to spill the beans yet.Reina must have placed her in her place. Reina“Why isn’t he waking up, Ethan?” I whispered, clutching the edge of the hospital bed.My voice trembled as I stared at Andrew’s pale face, his tiny body was almost swallowed by the sheets. The steady beeping of the heart monitor was the only sound in the room.I was going crazy. My only child was in a critical condition. “Reina, calm down,” Ethan said softly, though from his voice , I knew he was also scared. He was standing by the window, his hand pressed against the glass. “The doctors said they are running more tests.”I snapped my head towards him. “Tests? Ethan, he has not opened his eyes in hours! This is more than a fever. I know it!”Ethan turned to me and his face tightened. “Do you think I’m not worried? I’m losing my mind here, Reina! But panicking won’t help him.”The tears I had been holding back spilled over as I buried my face in my hands. “He’s just a child. Our child. He doesn’t deserve this.”The night before, Andrew was not sick. He just suddenly became

Reina The email came at 7:45 a.m. sharp. It was as if the person who sent this mail did it deliberately to give me chills. I was sitting at the kitchen table, still in my oversized sweatshirt and sipping my first coffee of the day when I saw the subject line. “Congratulations on Your Appointment". My hand shook as I clicked the email, my heart pounding. And then I saw it: the confirmation that I had landed the job I had been dreaming about for years. It was the job of a Creative Director at one of the most prestigious firms in the city. I let out a gasp so loud that Ethan came running into the kitchen. “What’s wrong? Are you okay? Are you fine?” he asked, his face filled with concern. “Nothing’s wrong!” I said, laughing through my tears. “I got it, Ethan! I got the job!” His eyes widened in disbelief, and then, like a switch, his face softened into a smile. “Are you serious? Are you serious right now, sweetheart?” he asked, stepping closer. I nodded, holding up my phone

Reina The following morning, the house felt colder than ever. It was not the weather or the light drizzle outside my house, it was the emptiness Ethan left behind. After our little argument last night. Ethan left the house and refused to answer my calls. I was going crazy because of a husband I had married and now, he had refused to come back. My heart became so heavy as I began to think about the implications of our argument. Had I pushed him too far this time? Was this all my fault? I would have shut the fuck up and not talk much to him about anything. It would have saved us a lot of stress. I stared at the clock, my coffee untouched on the table. Every second that passed without a word from him felt like a ticking bomb. My pride told me to wait, to let him be the one to come back and apologize, but my heart was screaming at me to call him, to beg him to come home. I needed him home. I needed to see him even if we were quarreling. I picked up my phone, my fingers hov

Reina “Damn it!” I almost yelled at the blank wall b The sound of the rain splattering against the window just reminded me of how my mind was. The atmosphere in the house had changed since the accident. I was getting better of course, I knew I was. I was taking my drugs and going for my frequent checkups to make sure I was fine. I was doing all I wanted to do to stay alive. Because, Damn. I still had a little boy that I needed to take care of. Ethan was trying his best to be present, trying to make things better between the both of us and I always appreciated his efforts but something still felt fractured. No matter how hard we tried, the pieces of our relationship didn’t fit the way they used to. That was just the plain truth. I could not continue lying to myself. I loved him, yes. But we were not as we used to be. Tonight, the tension felt unbearable. I sat at the dining table, staring blankly at the steaming cup of tea in front of me. Andrew was already in bed, and t

Reina Everyday in the hospital was filled with so much pain and all I could see were patients who were attended to and nurses who were filled with so much concern. Ethan never left me for a second. He was there every morning when I woke up and every night when I drifted into restless sleep. But the accident had changed something. It was not just in my body, but in the air that surrounded us. I could feel it in the way he hovered over me, his hand brushing mine as if afraid I might shatter. I could see it in the way he looked at me. It was not just love; it was fear. And I hated it. “You are not eating enough,” Ethan said one afternoon. I pushed the food tray away, the smell of the hospital’s chicken broth making my stomach rumble. I hated the sight of food. I didn’t want to eat anything. “I’m fine.” “You are not fine, Reina,” he said, his tone hardening. He sat down beside me, his knee brushing against the edge of the bed. “You almost died.” I flinched at the word. “You

ReinaI woke up that morning feeling restless. Something was off, though I could not quite put my finger on it. I didn't know what was wrong. Ehan had left the house earlier than usual, claiming he had a meeting with a client. Andrew was still asleep upstairs and I could hear his small snores drifting down the hallway, reminding me that he was here in this house with me. Although, I knew that in an hour or two, he was going to be left with his nanny. I lingered over my coffee, staring out the kitchen window at the dull gray sky. The forecast had warned of heavy rain later in the day, but I was not worried. My schedule was packed with back-to-back meetings, and I had promised myself to leave early to pick up a package. "Are you going to sit there all day, or are you finally going to get ready?" Celia's voice crackled through my phone.“I’m moving, I’m moving,” I mumbled, setting my mug down and heading upstairs. As I dressed up, my thoughts wandered to Ethan. He had been doing goo

Reina's POV I woke up to the sound of rain tapping against the window. When I turned to my side, Ethan was not in bed. Again. For the past few days, he had taken to waking up before me, always slipping out of the room quietly. He said it was to give me more time to rest, but I noticed some strange things about him. He hovered around me yet kept his distance, as though he didn’t know how to approach me anymore. I sat up slowly, careful not to let the dizziness creep in again. The doctor’s words echoed in my mind: “Stress is a major trigger.” I could not help but laugh bitterly. How did he expect me to avoid stress when my entire life already felt this stressful? I was trying not to allow myself to be very stressed but, some things won't let me. “Reina?” Ethan’s voice startled me. I had not even heard him come in. He stood in the doorway, holding a tray with what looked like breakfast. I could see some scrambled eggs, toast, and a glass of orange juice. “You made br

Reina’s POV The pounding in my head kept on returning as it screamed vengeance to me. It was the third day this week, and I could no longer ignore the dizziness that often followed. I gripped the edge of the kitchen counter, trying to keep myself from falling to the floor as my vision blurred for a moment. “Mom, are you okay?” Andrew’s small voice pulled me out of my haze. He was standing by the fridge, holding a juice box, his curious eyes staring at me. I forced a smile. “Of course, sweetheart. Just tired. Did you finish your homework?” “Yes,” he replied, but his brows furrowed. “But, mum. You don’t look okay.” Before I could reassure him, the front door opened, and Ethan walked in. I could still feel his presence as he stepped in and it gave me a kind of feeling that I could not quite explain. Things had been better between us, but there was still a fragile thread tying us together. “Hey,” Ethan greeted, glancing at Andrew and then me. His eyes lingered on my face.

Reina I and Ethan reconciled again. After so many times of quarreling. The weeks after our reconciliation felt good at least. Ethan was attentive, loving, and almost like the man I had fallen in love with years ago. It felt too good to be true, and deep down, I could not shake the feeling that the storm wasn’t over. We were still going to have our quarrel again. One evening, as I was sitting in my home office reviewing proposals for my latest fashion campaign, my phone buzzed. It was Celia.“Reina, you are not going to believe this,” she said happily and her voice tinged with excitement and panic.“What is it?” I asked, leaning back in my chair.“I just saw Ethan,” she began.“And?”“He was at a café with a woman I didn’t recognize. They looked… close.”I felt my stomach drop. “Close how? What do you mean by that?”We just reconciled and now, Celia was telling me this? This was not true. “They were sitting in a corner booth, whispering, and he handed her a thick envelope. I did
