Sienna’s POV
For a moment, I was lost in the glamor of the event I was covering with my team. It was a business gala where high profile business people and media elites were in attendance. And that was until the head of my team, Fiona, snapped, pulling me back into the moment.
"Sienna, could you try not to space out?"
“Sorry.” Without looking up at her, I muttered more to myself than to her.
I returned my focus to the notepad in front of me and scanned the room, ignoring the whispers of my teammates behind me. I didn’t have to hear what they were saying to know it was about me.
Apparently, my new colleague had also learned of the scandal that prompted me to be transferred from my former branch to the New York Branch, and they all believed the story, viewing me as the woman who had slept my way up. A scandal that was perfectly orchestrated by own my best friend.
No one cared to hear my own side of the story. And I didn’t care to explain myself to anyone.
Feeling my throat perching dry, I made my way toward the bar to get myself a drink. Once I had gotten a glass of mocktail, I turned around to return to my team but my shoulder suddenly collided with someone’s arm and the glass tipped too quickly from my grip. The drink splashes forward, spilling over the dress of a woman in a stunning burgundy red dress that screamed money.
Oh. Shit.
“Oh my God.” I said with a startled gasp, visibly shaky now. How could I have been so clumsy? “I’m so sorry. I didn’t see you…”
I couldn’t even look her in the face and just stared wide eyed at the damage I had caused to her dress. I did a quick mental calculation at the same time. It would literally take months of my salary for me to replace her dress.
“Jezz! Watch where you’re going! Do you even know how much these cost?!”
“I’m sorry. I didn’t meant to…” I stopped mid-apology as the familiarity of her sharp, angry voice hit me, causing me to lift my gaze and finally look at her in the face.
My stomach dropped as her perfectly sculpted face which looked exactly like mine greeted me.
“Sabrina?”
She froze too, her eyes widening as she recognized it was me. For a second, we just stared at each other and the noise of the room felt like it had faded into a dull hum.
Sabrina. My twin sister whom I hadn’t seen for almost ten years now. The first person who had abandoned me, disappointed me and broke my heart.
"Sienna?" Sabrina’s eyes darted around the room like she didn’t want anyone to notice us together. As if she was ashamed of being seen together with me. "What are you doing here?"
I swallowed the lump in my throat and straightened my spine.
"Working.” I said firmly, even though my voice wavered slightly. "I’m covering this event with my team."
“Oh. I see.” Her perfectly manicured fingers tightened around the stem of her champagne flute as her eyes flicked over me, taking in my simple black dress and neat bun, like I was made of cheap stuff. “Seems that life has been good to you, Sienna."
Her condescension hit like a slap, but I didn’t flinch. I replied to her sarcastically.
"And I see life’s been even better to you. A guest in the Montgomery’s business gala. How reputable.”
The corners of Sabrina’s lips lifted in a smirk and before she could reply, a deep, oddly familiar voice cut through the tension.
"Who are you talking to, honey?”
I froze.
“Sweetheart.” Sabrina cooed and immediately slipped behind me to hug the owner of the voice. “Remember my twin sister I told you about? Sienna? That’s her.”
My heart thumped loudly in my chest and my breath caught in my throat as I turned slowly to see who it was. And just like I had suspected, the voice belonged to him.
Roman. My ex husband who had disappeared from my life on the same day I gave birth to our daughter eight years ago. He looked the same, if not better. Broad-shouldered, sharp-jawed, and dressed in an American tuxedo that fit him like a second skin.
"Roman?” I stared wide eyed at him in pure disbelief, blinking a few times and hoping that this was a dream. But it wasn’t.
This was Roman, flesh and blood. My Roman.
Roman raised a brow with his face cold and expressionless. And the way he stared at me, it was as though I was a total stranger to him. Like he hadn’t met me before.
“It’s a pleasure to finally meet you, Sienna. My wife has told me so much about you.”
The world tilted. ‘A pleasure to finally meet me’? ‘My wife’?
I looked from him to Sabrina and back to him again, completely lost and confused. What the hell was going on? Why was he referring to my twin sister as his wife and pretending not to recognize me?
“Aren’t you… aren’t you Roman?” I stuttered, furiously blinking back the tears that were beginning to well up in my eyes. Roman raised a brow at me again.
“Yes, I am. Roman Montgomery. Have we met before?”
"Seriously?" I couldn’t stop the tears from spilling down my cheeks this time. My heart squeezed tight in my chest and I felt fresh pain like I felt when he disappeared exactly eight years ago. "You’re going to act like you don’t know me?"
Before Roman could reply me, Sabrina slipped her arm through his and flashed him a honeyed smile.
"She must be mistaking you for someone else. Sienna’s just here to cover the event. Let’s give her some space.”
I scoffed in disbelief as they turned to leave and before I could think twice, I closed in on them and grabbed Roman’s arm, yanking him back to face me.
His once expressionless face broke into a shocked and confused one before slipping back into his usual one of cold indifference.
"You abandoned me!” My voice was raised and loud now, attracting the guests and everyone else that I didn’t care were watching. "You abandoned your own wife, and now you’re married to her?!”
“You know, all these while, I thought Sabrina was only making up stories when she said that her twin sister was a selfish, greedy bitch who hated her and would do anything to take her life away. But finally meeting you now, I can see that she was never wrong…”
Before he could complete his sentence, I raised my hand and smacked him hard across the face. The sharp sound of the slap echoed through the hall, earning gasps from everyone around us. They began to pull out their phones to record the moment.
But I didn’t care. I was blinded by rage and needed to take revenge for what Roman had done to me and our daughter. For everything he had put us through, only for him to deny me after all these years. After promising me so much and claiming he loved me more than anything else.
Roman’s fingers felt his cheek as he stared at me wide eyed in shock. Sabrina gasped in shock.
“How dare you?!” He hissed at me. “I will have you locked up and arrested for this!”
“No. No. No, please.” Sabrina quickly stepped between us, looking up at Roman with tears floating in her eyes. "Please, don’t punish her. She’s my sister. I know she hates me and wants to ruin my happiness, but she’s my only sister and I love her. Please, don’t do this."
More tears rolled down my cheeks. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. She was playing the victim, right here in front of everyone, and they were eating it up. To them, I was the bad guy. The envious, evil twin sister.
Roman glared at me for a couple of seconds as if contemplating whether he should listen to Sabrina or not. My heart broke even more, seeing him glare at me with those eyes that had once stared at me with infinity love.
The next second, Roman signaled to security, his jaw still tight with anger.
“Have her thrown out.”
"No need." I wiped the tears on my face with the back of my hand. "I’ll leave now.”
But as I turned to go, I tripped and fell to my knees over Sabrina’s heel that I could swear she had set on purpose.
As I forced myself up with a face bathed in tears and a heavy lump in my throat, I did not fail to catch a glimpse of Sabrina’s face as she quickly masked a smirk.
And then, I ran out of the hall, humiliated and in tears while cameras flashed on me. As I ran and wept, the only words that echoed in my head were…
Why did Roman leave me just to get married to my own twin sister who hated me so much? And most importantly, why was he pretending that he had never met me before?
Sienna’s POVThe next morning, I stood in front of my boss, Ms. Leen, smoothing out my skirt for the third time in as many minutes. My palms were sweaty and my heart hammered in my chest. “Do you have any idea the kind of chaos you’ve caused?” She began, her nails drumming against the surface and her cold eyes locked on me. “My phone hasn’t stopped ringing since last night. Sponsors, attendees, the media, everyone’s talking about the little scene you decided to put on. Your embarrassing videos are everywhere, Miss. Blake!”“Ms. Leen, I…”“Save it.” She shot me another glare. “I don’t want excuses. What I want is for you to explain why you thought it was a good idea to slap a man like Roman Montgomery on the night of his business gala, cause a commotion, and drag this network’s name through the mud!”I swallowed hard, feeling my palms turn clammy and my heart beating so loudly that I feared she might hear it. “It wasn’t intentional, ma’am. I let my emotions get the best of me. I’m so
Sienna’s POVI arrived at the bar half an hour early and as I sat down at the bar, focusing on the tart and fruity mocktail in front of me, I felt my stomach growl in anxiety.I glanced at my wristwatch a couple of times, flicking my gaze tothe entryway every now and then, half expecting the anonymous texted to walk in. But it was too early and he or she had specifically said eight pm. I checked my phone again and reread the cryptic message that had led me here. As I read through it for the hundredth time, my fingers hovered over the screen more than once, tempted to respond with questions. But something told me this wasn’t the kind of person who liked to repeat themselves. Dropping my phone back into my purse, I indulged myself in my drink, hoping that time would go by faster.A while later, I felt a presence sit down on the stool next to mine and I glanced at his direction. It was a masculine man dressed in a crisp white shirt with the sleeves rolled up and his black trousers tai
Roman’s POVAs I stood in front of the full length mirror in my bedroom, I found myself unwillingly indulged in the thought of her again. Sienna. The hurt in her eyes. The emotions in her voice. It just wouldn’t leave my mind and it made absolutely no sense. She looked exactly like Sabrina, down to the shape of her eyes and the curve of her lips, except that she had chestnut brown hair and sapphire colored eyes while Sabrina had charcoal black hair and blue eyes. But then again, there was something about Sienna that felt different no matter how I tried not to think about it. Familiar, even. I ran a hand through my hair, irritated at myself.“Why the hell is she so convinced I’m her husband?” I muttered to myself. It didn’t add up. I had never seen her before in my life. Maybe Sienna was right and she was unstable. But then, why couldn’t I stop thinking about her? Was it the feeling of guilt I felt towards her in her miserable state? Was that the reason I had this nagging pull i
Roman’s POVBy the time Riley and I got home, it was almost nighttime. Stepping into the living room, I was welcomed by the sight of my older brother; Julian, seated crossed legged on the plush, oversized armchair, reading a Forbes magazine. He lifted his gaze as soon as he heard us enter the room and a small smile crossed his lips. It had been over a month since I had last seen him. According to my mother, he had traveled for an urgent business trip. I wouldn’t say that I had missed him exactly because we had never been so close.…from what I gathered based on my eight years of memories.“Uncle Julian!” Riley squealed as soon as she set eyes on him. She ran straight into his arms and he chuckled as he rose up, scooped her into his arms and lifted her playfully into the air.“There’s my princess!”“I’ve missed you, Uncle Julian.” Riley pouted her lips. “You abandoned me.”“No, I did not. I wouldn’t dare.” Julian chuckled again. “How about we do this? Give your dad and I a little space
Sienna’s POV“Happy birthday, sleepyhead!” I raised my voice as I hovered over Livvy’s sleepy frame with a small birthday cake in my hand, its pastel pink frosting decorated with sugar flowers and a single candle flickering softly. “Mommy…” Livvy stirred and stretched as her lashes fluttered awake. Once she got a glimpse of the cake in my hand through her half sleepy eyes, she gasped and immediately sat up from her bed, wide awake now.I chuckled lightly. I had creeped into her room while she was still asleep to surprise her and from the look of things, it was mission successful.“Happy eight years birthday, sweetie.” I settled onto the edge of the bed, beside her and pushed the cake gently towards her. “Come on. Make a wish.”Chuckling in pure delight, Livvy pressed her palm together and squeezed her eyes shut. “I wish that daddy would come back to us very soon.” Then, she leaned forward and blew the candle with all her might. My smile weakened as her wish flooded my ears. I wished
Sienna’s POV“He’s close. Too close.” I thought to myself as my gaze locked with his, my heart pounding in my chest. I felt like I was frozen and even though my head screamed at me to push him off and get back on my feet, I couldn’t move. Instead, I was teleported back to the moment nine years ago, when we had met for the first time at a children charity event. He had caught me this same way when I almost fell to the ground and the moment had lingered. It was as though the world had faded around us and I had been mesmerized by the cold depths of his forest green eyes. And the feeling of his strong, masculine arms around my waist. It was like a scene straight out of a fairytale storybook.Maybe that was the reason why our love story came to an end too early. Because it was only just a fairytale. The cab man’s voice cut through the moment.“Hey you! Who the hell are you?!” He barked at Roman who smirked at me again before helping me steady to my feet. Once I was back on my feet, he di
Sienna’s POVThe soft chime of the elevator echoed as the metal doors slid open and I stepped out with a deep exhale before walking into the office space I shared with my team.I was still recovering from the embarrassment of earlier. How could I have been so stupid, to allow my emotions blind and lead me into hugging Roman? I would never forget the stunned look on his face when I hugged him for what seemed like an entire minute. After I had recovered and come back to my senses, I had been so embarrassed and apologized, blaming it on how stressful the day had been.Stress?I was almost laughing at myself now.How dumb and ridiculous! Couldn’t I have come up with a better excuse?Thankfully, Roman had brushed it off and given me a lift to the company as agreed. However, I had asked him not to walk me inside. I wasn’t sure what to expect from my colleagues when they saw me with Roman. They would probably spread more gossip about me and accuse me of sleeping with my so-called sister’s h
Julian’s POVThe low hum of my car’s engine faded as I rolled to a stop in front of Roman’s mansion. As I stepped out of the car, Riley’s voice came from the backseat in a playful squeal.“Uncle Julian! Don’t forget me!”“Oops.” I grinned, turning around to open the door for her. “I almost forgot. Or maybe, I was thinking of leaving you behind.”“No, you wouldn’t! You love me!” She shit back with a giggle as she squirmed in her seat, her curly hair bouncing around her small face. “Of course, I love you, princess.”Laughing, I scooped her out of her seat with ease and hoisted her into my shoulder as I stride towards the mansion’s double door. Riley let out a delighted squeal and kicked her feet playfully into the air. “Put me down, Uncle Julian! Put me down!”“I can’t hear you from all the way down here.” I teased her and we both laughed as I walked past the foyer and stepped into the living room where Sabrina was seated on one of the couches like a queen, wearing a shimmery silk blu
Sabrina’s POVEnding the call immediately, I spun around, my heart dropping at the sight of Emilia’s pale face pale, frozen in shock. The smiles she had worn earlier at the restaurant were gone, replaced by wide, disbelieving eyes.I swallowed hard, my palms turning clammy as silence stretched between us.She took slow, hesitant steps toward me, as if she had just heard the most horrifying thing in her life.Well, apparently, she just had.“Those things… those things you said…” Her voice shook as she forced out the words. “Are they true?”I didn’t answer right away. I just stared at her, feeling a surge of irritation bubbling beneath my skin. This old hag! Why did she have to come outside now? I didn’t bring her here for this. Now, she was going to ruin everything. I felt my hatred for her deepen. Her voice trembled as she pressed on. “Did you really cause Roman’s accident so you could steal him from Sienna?” Her eyes glistened with tears. “Do you actually plan to get rid of Sienna
Sabrina’s POV"This food is sooo good," Emilia said, chewing loudly with her mouth open. The sight alone made my stomach turn.I forced a small smile, taking a delicate bite of my own meal."I know, right?" I said smoothly. "They make the best dishes here."Emilia let out an exaggerated scoff as she shoveled another oversized spoonful into her mouth. "That foolish sister of yours really messed up."Her chewing was unbearable to watch. I wanted to grab that spoon and shove it right down her throat."I mean, can you believe she turned down your offer to bring her here?" Emilia gestured dramatically around the elegant five-star restaurant. Even in the expensive dress I bought for her, she looked completely out of place. No amount of fancy clothing could hide what she truly was. Cheap and pathetic. And that irritated me."She’s such an ungrateful bitch," Emilia sneered. "She needs to be taught a hard lesson. Maybe then she’ll finally learn to be appreciative."I kept my small, polite smi
Sienna’s POVAt first, I hesitated to shop. I didn’t want it to seem like I was taking advantage of Ethan’s generosity. But Livvy’s excitement was contagious. She practically bounced around the children’s section, marveling at the colorful dresses and shoes.“Mommy, look at this! You’ll look like a princess in it!” she exclaimed, holding up a pair of elegant heels.I knelt beside her, taking the shoe from her hands. It really was beautiful. The attendant smiled warmly and encouraged me to try it on and I hesitated for a second before slipping my foot into it. It fit perfectly, hugging my foot as if it was specifically made just for me. As if sensing my initial reluctance, the attendant took it upon herself to guide me through the boutique. She pulled out dresses, shoes, and handbags —each one more extravagant than the last. Every piece was either a limited edition or straight off the latest runway collection. My doubts crept back in, but the attendant, clearly an expert in handlin
Sienna’s POVThe weekend had finally arrived, and I spent most of the morning at the park with Livvy. We caught up, played around, and just enjoyed being in each other’s company before heading back to the mansion.Barely an hour after we returned, my phone buzzed with a call from Ethan.“Give me a moment, sweetie,” I said, excusing myself from the scrabble game Livvy and I were playing in my room. I picked up the call and brought the phone to my ear.“Hey,” Ethan’s deep voice greeted me from the other end of the line.“Hi,” I replied, settling against the edge of my bed.“What are your plans for today?” he asked.I glanced over at Livvy, who was busy arranging the scrabble tiles with her little fingers. A small smile tugged at my lips. Weekends were my favorite because I got to be with her all day. And to protect her from everything, even if just for a little while.“Just having fun at home with Livvy,” I answered.“That sounds... boring,” he teased, and I heard the slight stretch i
Roman’s POVTonight, I had that dream again. The woman running, her laughter echoing in the open field as I chased her. But tonight, somehow it felt different. More vivid. More real. And for the first time, the laughter sounded familiar.Like other days, I jolted awake, breathing heavily. My body was drenched in sweat and my pulse pounded in my ears. Beside me, Sabrina lay fast asleep, her naked body curled against mine with her arm draped over my torso. The scent of sex still lingered in the air, but my mind was too clouded to care.I ran a hand through my hair, staring up at the ceiling. What the hell was this dream? And why did it feel like a memory clawing its way back? It felt like something buried deep inside me, that I couldn’t quite reach.Slowly, I turned my head, my eyes drifting to Sabrina as she slept. Could she be the woman in my dreams? My gut told me no. The laughter in the dream wasn’t hers. It was softer, warmer. As if I had heard it somewhere before. Before I c
Sienna’s POVAfter work, Ethan drove Candice and me to a cozy little restaurant nearby for an early dinner. We ordered burgers with crispy fries, and Candice went for a chicken salad. Ethan tried to be charming and kept sneaking extra fries onto my plate and even wiped a crumb off my lips with his thumb. His gaze lingered on me the entire time, making it clear he was enjoying our time together a little too much.Candice, on the other hand, simply rolled her eyes at us and focused on her food, pretending not to notice. After dinner, Ethan offered to drive me back to the mansion, but I declined and accepted Candice’s offer instead. Even though we were dating, I didn’t want to let him get too close. The last thing I needed was for him to develop real feelings. Our breakup would be inevitable, and I knew Candice would never forgive me if he got hurt.I had to keep my distance. When Candice dropped me off, I walked into the mansion, feeling relaxed from the evening. Until I stepped into
Sienna’s POV"Fuck me."Candice’s voice rang through the office, sharp with disbelief. Her wide eyes locked onto me, then flicked to Ethan, then back to me again.I jolted out of my daze, shoving Ethan away as I scrambled off the desk. My hands flew to smooth my skirt and adjust my blouse — pointless, really, since nothing had actually happened. But the weight of her stare made me feel like I had just been caught in something scandalous.Ethan, on the other hand, barely reacted. He turned to face Candice, his expression blank, as if he hadn’t just been caught practically about to devour his sister’s best friend.Candice let out a scoff, shaking her head in disappointment."You’re unbelievable." Her jaw clenched as she glared at me, the hurt and frustration evident in her eyes. Then, without another word, she spun on her heel and stormed out."Candice, wait!"Cursing under my breath, I ran after her, my heels clicking loudly against the floor. Ethan remained behind, unmoved, but I had
Sienna’s POV"Good morning, Miss Blake."I ignored the greetings from my colleagues as I strode through the office building, my heels clicking against the floor sharply. My face was set in stone, my heart a storm of hurt, rage, and the burning thirst for revenge. There was only one place I needed to be.Ethan’s office.I reached the door and pushed it open without knocking.Ethan's head snapped up, his expression shifting to shock, as if I had just walked in with a gun pointed at him.And sitting on his lap was Jenna. They had been flirting, their hushed voices and playful smiles filling the room before I arrived. But the moment they saw me, the air changed. The tension was very evident.Jenna’s face flushed, and she scrambled to her feet, her hands hurriedly gathering files from Ethan’s desk. She cleared her throat, attempting to reclaim her professional composure, although her awkward movements betrayed her embarrassment."Thank you for the insight, sir," she muttered, pressing the
Sienna’s POVThe next morning. I stood outside the mansion seeing Livvy and Riley off to school before I would be on my own way to work. “See you later, sweetie.” I crouched down and pressed a small kiss to Livvy’s forehead. “Be a good girl at school, okay?”“Okay, Mommy.” She nodded happily, her hair bouncing with the movement.I watched as she climbed into the car that was to drive them to school, but Riley remained frozen in place, refusing to move.“Riley?” I asked, stepping closer. “Is everything okay?”She looked up at me, stubborn and defiant.“I’m not getting in that car with Livvy.”Her words wiped the smile from my face, and my heart sank. For a moment, I didn’t know how to respond. Then, after a brief pause, I found my voice again.“But why, Riley? What’s wrong?”“I just don’t want to ride with her!” she snapped, glaring at me. “Just leave me alone.”“It’s okay, Riley.” Livvy’s soft voice came from inside the car. She stepped down, her usual gentle smile on her face. “You
