After a quiet night's sleep, Melanie wakes up feeling rejuvenated. Driven to interact with her faith community and spend time in worship, she gets ready for church. She sensed the Lord quite powerfully in the church, she sang hymns and listened to the preaching her pastor raised that she left appreciatively changed and rejuvenated by the gift of fellowship.
Melanie gets home after church, excited to see Ryan for their regular Sunday hangout that became a routine three weeks ago and she puts aside everything that she would need to get ready for the date night into a duffle bag, then she drives Kalinin's car to Ryans house, knowing that she doesn't want to go through the stress of hurrying down from Ryan's house in the evening when it is time for her date. Ryan is a very busy man who works two jobs, not because he is low on money but rather because he is so good at what he does, so she packs lightly and leaves the house without Kionna because even though she and Ryan are getting rather close, she still cannot leave Kionna unsupervised in the company of another child while she was going to be on a date with Caleb. Ryan and Melanie spent the morning lying around, talking, and joking together; then, as the day wore on Melanie starts to get ready for her appointment with Caleb at Bistro Bliss. Fortunately for her, she decided to bring her stuff to Ryan's residence otherwise, She would have been too stressed. When the time came to get ready, Karen escorted Melanie to her room, got her settled, and knowing that Karen doesn't bite, Melanie was eve eventually able to relax in her presence but it still, seemed rather strange to get ready in Karen's room because Left to Melanie, she thought that she would have most likely gotten her makeup done in Ryan's room, then when the time to change comes, she would change to her dress in the bathroom, but her reality now revolved in Karen's room. Surrounded by warm, golden illumination and luxurious furniture, Melanie stands before the sophisticated vanity in Karen's room. She finishes her gentle yet sophisticated glam and gushes at her mirror reflection, her eyes glittering with delight while Ryan leans against his mother's doorframe. "You look stunning, Mel." He watches Melanie with a friendly smile. “Thank you, Ryan. I'm almost finished.”Melanie's cheeks turn into a slight shade of pink as she lightly coats her lashes with mascara. Since Melanie is already running late, Karen tells him to leave the perimeter so that Melanie can concentrate on getting dressed, then Karen closes her bedroom door to offer Melanie some type of privacy. Melanie changes from her casual attire into a black silk dress and then puts on her diamond earrings. The gift is from Alex for her 24th birthday, but according to Melanie and Kalinin’s commandment, they may be allowed to hate the giver of the gift but the gift is innocent. Next, she sprays her scent for the night, straightens her frock and then she pleads with Karen to lace her corset so that the loose gown may snatch her waist. In no time, the cowl gown with bell sleeves that she has on turns into a snatched gown, with the bodice hugging her curves and the flowy part of the floor-length gown making her look rather attractive. Ryan knocks on her mother's door to see how Meelah is getting ready, but Karen invites him in before she leaves her room because she doesn't want them to feel weird with her around. "You are definitely going to knock Caleb off his feet because you have knocked me off mine," Ryan admits as his eyes wander over her, his face grateful. Melanie smiles, but for a little while she falters as she looks aside, her mind floating to Caleb. She has not seen him in weeks, and she is starting to get worried. "Hey, you okay," Ryan asks, noting her slight pause. “Certainly, I'm good…Just apprehensive, I suppose” Melanie nods and gets herself together. “Mel, you have no reason to be apprehensive,” Ryan tells her. "You're amazing," he adds as he softly adjusts her earrings with his finger caressing across her skin. Melanie's heart misses a beat at the touch, but she quickly told herself that this was simply Ryan being kind. "Thanks, Ryan," she says grinning at him. "You are such a supportive friend," she commends and Ryan's eyes lock onto hers. Melanie feels a flutter of uncertainty within her as her mind drifts back to what Kalinin said the other day about Ryan being interested in her and she can’t not help but wonder if her sister was right or if what she observed was her just overanalyzing all the gestures he is extending towards her and he was just being nice. Her phone buzzing breaks the atmosphere, and she finds Caleb texting her as she approaches the vanity to pick it. “Time to go,” she announces as she reaching out to pick her purse. "I will drop you off," Ryan says, but Melanie looks at him oddly. "I came here with Kali's car." She reminds him "I know you came here with your sister's car but you look too good for me to let you go out without a chaperone," Ryan says, refusing to waver. "I am already running late; you are not even ready yet." Melanie sighed. "Just give me ten minutes to get ready," Ryan says but she glares at him. "now that I think about it, I can also manage five minutes," he says as he bolts from the room, he adds. Ryan keeps his words, changes into something really casual and they leave the house for Bistro Bliss. They arrive at Bistro Bliss and it takes a while for Mekanie to locate Cakeb, but when she finally sees him blood drains from her face. “What is Alex doing in Orion?” she asks herself as her eyes dart back and forth but Alex doesn't attempt to walk up to her. Melanie tries to put herself together because her face looks like she has seen an actual ghost and she feels like she has been caught-redhanded when Ryan points it out, but she tries to compose herself so that neither Caleb nor Ryan will know that she has any connections to Alex because she doesn't know what she will do if they ask.“Shall we?” Caleb asks when he notices that Melanie’s mind seems to have drifted miles away, and he confirms his theory because Melanie almost jumps out of her skin when he touches her.“Mel… are you okay?” Ryan asks Melanie, sensing her unease, and she gives a smile that doesn’t reach her eyes as she nods.“We can just go back home if you change your mind about the date,” Ryan proposes. “I am sure that Caleb will not hold it against you, " Ryan suddenly decides for Caleb, acting like they are twins that share the telepathy bond.“Or will you?” Ryan suddenly asks Caleb, acknowledging his presence for the first time that night by putting him on the chopping block.“Of course, I won’t” Caleb replies, glaring at Ryan and returning the same energy that Ryan has been sending his way since they met that night.“I am okay, Ryan,” Melanie says.“Let’s go to the Private Oasis,” Melanie urges and Ryan leads them out of the restaurant to the upper level of Bistro Bliss. The private Oasis is an
Alex sits alone on the lower floor of Bistro Bliss, scanning the crowded room and wondering whether Caleb's mystery woman is Melanie because he knows that Melanie has a twin sister and they look too alike. His thoughts return to their stormy history, and Melanie's unexpected exit from Pearl Coast is still fascinating to him because nobody could find her, and all leads failed. He had done everything to find her because their previous debate was inconclusive, and the last time she caught him cheating, she slipped off the grid for a bit and crept back to him when she wanted to end the radio silence. He was confident that this time would be no different. “Could Melanie be in Orion? Her sister lives here, after all,” He wonders as he orders food and starts eating, but his hunger is gone, and his thoughts continue going back to Melanie as these two weeks without her have been misery. He sets his food aside and plunges himself into a 45-minute internal debate about whether to investigate
Melanie is finally able to escape the rather unsettling situation with Alex, and on getting to the bathroom, her hands tremble as she dials Shirley’s number but it goes straight to voice mail.“There is no reason to be worried yet” Melanie tries to calm herself, knowing that Shirley barely has the normal phone etiquette that a normal human being should have, and her lackadaisical attitude towards her phone usage is just Shirley being Shirley and she will call her back when she gets her voice mail.“I need to know that you are alright, so I need you to call me once you see this,” Melanie sends Shirley a text on WhatsApp before redialing her number just in case she picks it up, but the call goes to voicemail once again.Melanie tries calling again so that if the issue of her not picking up is as a result of her phone being on DND (do not disturb) her falls will override the DND, but the result is the same. Panic creeps in, and her heart sinks because even though she always blamed the p
In less than 30 minutes, Melanie and Caleb arrive at Kalinin’s house, and Melanie runs down from Caleb’s Rolls Royce into the house to start putting together her documents, forgetting that she didn’t ask Caleb to come into the house. Melanie doesn’t inform her sister about what drove her to run home and start gathering her documents immediately, but Kalinin patiently waits for her sister to be done with what she is doing Since she knows that if Melanie doesn’t finish up what she needs to do, she won’t tell her anything. Since Caleb wasn’t invited into the house, he didn’t bother going inside, he just stayed outside to make a few calls. Firstly, he makes calls to arrange his jet and notifies his preferred pilot to be ready in 30 minutes to fly him to Pearl Coast. Next, he puts a call through to Alistair to tell him about how his date went and also to tell him about the recent development. It took a lot of cajoling for him to be able to guarantee that Alistair would overse
Melanie experiences a mixture of emotions: fear for Shirley, thanks for Caleb's support, and admiration at the breathtaking view as the chopper rises away from Orion, leaving the city lights behind. As the chopper soars over the coast, Melanie's anxiousness resurfaces and Shirley’s immobility weighs heavily on Melanie’s thoughts. Caleb feels her tension and pours two glasses from the helicopter's mini-bar. "Here, drink this. It'll relieve your worries." Melanie hesitates, typically denying the alcohol because she doesn't like what it tastes like, but tonight, her fear overwhelms her reservations, so she accepts the glass, adoring the amber nectar. The rich, creamy flavor astonishes her and Caleb smiles, encouraging her to drink more. "It's my secret reserve, aged whiskey,” Caleb explains to Melanie and she takes another sip, feeling the warmth rise across her chest. As the chopper experiences turbulence, she downs the rest of the glass. Caleb refiles her glass, concern written on
“What do you mean by ‘this changes things’?” Alex asks Ryan confused, as he starts walking towards his mom’s office because he would rather have that conversation in person than on the phone. “That is because it changes a lot of things” Ryan emphasizes with his eyes darting back and forth in his mom's office, but he doesn't necessarily explain himself. “Can you explain and stop confusing me?” Alex snaps at Ryan because he has had enough of his dribbling. “You never mentioned your fiancée’s name to me and now I started crushing on your fiancée…both of us are even like best friends now,” Ryan confesses to Alex. “What do you mean that you are crushing on my fiancée?” Alex asks him visibly offended as he practically sprints toward Karen’s office“Before you called me and explained the situation in an obvious way, I didn’t know that she was your fiancée and that is because you never showed me any pictures of her nor told me her name even though I asked you for it on countless occasion
Ryan drives for a few minutes because of how close Kalinin’s estate is to Bistro Bills and in no time, he pulls over in front of Kalinin’s beautiful house. He knocks on the door even though it is quite late and he doesn't like visiting people this late, but the situation is different…it is Melanie who is involved here. He rings the doorbell for a while before Kalinin steps out with her hair disheveled, slightly tangled and messy, her sleep-flushed cheeks with a hint of warmth, her eyes slightly puffy with a sleepy gaze in a tank top and baggy sweat pants. “This can't be Melanie, it has to be Kalinin because what time did she get home that she is already sleeping?” Ryan jumps to conclusions as he eyes the lady in front of him from head to toe. “Good evening ma'am…I am Ryan, Mel’s friend” he introduces. “I know you” Kalinin answers him curtly because she is really tired after the day's activities and she just wants to get back to the comfort of her bed. “Sorry to disturb you
Melanie slowly opens her eyes, lethargically taking in her surroundings, and she is met with the sight of Caleb’s chiseled features, his eyes gazing softly at her. They’re in a luxurious hotel room, the morning sun filtering through the curtains and she thinks back to the list place she was the last night and it was inside Caleb's private jet, so her expression changes from relaxation to discomfort as memories of their intense night flood back. She tries to sit up so that she can figure out her next move but Caleb’s arm wraps around her, holding her close “Good morning, beautiful,” Caleb whispers, his voice husky and Melanie’s cheeks flush awkwardly as she extricates herself from his embrace to sit down upright on the bed because that position is too distracting for her to think straight. “Morning,” She replies curtly, avoiding eye contact. “Regrets?” Caleb asks as he notices her unease and raises an eyebrow. “No time for regrets…we have work to do” Her tone is clipped, dism
