Following a solid night's sleep the night before, Caleb wakes up feeling refreshed. Looking at his watch, he discovers the time to be 7:00 AM and Alex Sinclair, Saint Clair's agent from Pearl Coast will be arriving in Orion today to oversee the project with his company and even though it is Sunday morning, he is neither the church type guy nor religious at all.
Caleb gets ready to make a good impression by wearing a tidy white shirt and fitting trousers, then he grabs his keys and leaves to pick Alex up from the airport. He wants to make the representative very valued by being very careful about everything that influences his hospitality, hence he is controlling everything by himself even though he could have told his assistant to pick the representative up. At 8:00 AM Caleb parks his car at Orion International Airport and walks to the arrivals lounge. Looking at the flight status on his phone, he sees that Alex's flight has landed and heads for the Arrival gate. Caleb sees a large and dominating Alex holding a briefcase, so he walks up to him "Caleb Wellington," he extends his hand. "Alex Sinclair," says Alex, shaking Caleb firmly. Alex is guided from the arrival gate to the cafe where Caleb and he review the project's goals and timelines while having coffee. Caleb thought that Alex hardly knew anything about the project but Alex exceeded his expectations. His sharp insights and knowledge truly delighted Caleb since he was expecting they would have communication problems. "I must say, your uncle has great respect for you, Alex," Caleb tells Alex, "Appreciated Caleb…Working with your team is an opportunity that I do not take for granted,” Alex says and Caleb smiles. They depart the airport café and the airport generally in no time after ending their conversation. As Caleb drives Alex to his office, he enjoys Orion's breathtaking views, and Caleb points out well-known locations and shares the city’s stories. Though Sunday is supposed to be their leisure day, Caleb shows Alex around his office and introduces him to key team members that he directed to be around, and Alex finds great attraction in the organizational dynamics and infrastructure. "I think we would enjoy working together, Caleb," Alex replies and Caleb nods in agreement. "Let's guarantee this project runs well." Alex moves Caleb and agrees. Caleb doesn't want the two weeks that Alex is scheduled to spend in Orion to be squandered or drawn out, so Caleb encourages Alex to settle into his office as they spend some time organizing the stuff they will be working on the next day. After they finished discussing business, Caleb led Alex to a nearby restaurant where they had a wonderful lunch and they continued talking about the project details. "This is only the beginning of a productive relationship," Caleb points out. As the afternoon came to a close, Caleb felt more certain about their connection than he had before Alex arrived at Orion. "I should let you off at your hotel, Alex. You should be somewhat tired from the journey.” Caleb looks at his watch as they finish lunch. “Caleb, that is quite courteous of you. I am not particularly tired, though.” Alex disagrees. “ The excitement of this endeavor is vibrating through me.” Alex points out. "Well, in such case I'll show you Orion." Caleb presents and grins. "We can talk more over specifics tonight over dinner," Alex suggests and it doesn't sit well with Caleb as he has plans with Melanie for dinner but he will have to figure something out before dinner. Alex and Caleb spent the rest of the afternoon touring the city. Caleb brought him to the Orion Riverwalk, where they walked around the waterfront chatting about anything from business goals to personal interests. "Hey, Caleb…we should catch up over dinner…I'm buying things.” As the sun sank, Alex suggests. "Ah, Alex, Let me refer to my calendar,” Caleb says, knowing he had plans with Melanie that same evening but he doesn't want to refuse Alex straight down. “Hey, should we head straight to dinner right now?” Alex insists and as they walk towards Caleb's car, his head spins for a defense. "Sorry, Alex, I have plans already." Caleb looks at his watch and apologizes to Alex, realizing it is barely 10 minutes until seven p.m. "Dining with your girlfriend or something?." Alex raises his eyebrow. “Not yet, but I am Still, working on it is,” Caleb's grin spread over his face. "Well, I'm not stopping over here so let us just go to the restaurant together then I'll leave you to see your soon-to-be girlfriend,” Alex laughed loudly. “Alex, you are unrelenting.” Caleb laughs, not totally at ease with the idea since he knows Melanie is a lovely woman and he doesn't want Alex to get any ideas but he agrees to stop further searching. “Good…let's go to Bistro Bliss since She chose the restaurant,” Calen informs Alex. “Is their food good?” Alex inquires. “This will be my first visit there, but when I went over the reviews, they claimed their food was nice," Caleb answers even though he intended to sort of discourage Alex but Alex stays on Caleb like a tenacious fly. “Sounds perfect…I'll also get to see your mystery woman.” Alex begins to smile but Caleb doesn't smile as he just focuses on driving. Arriving at Bistro Bliss, Caleb and Alex find a soothing glow from candles and a hushed murmur of discussion all around. "Let us grab a table," Alex offers. "One drink before I leave you to see your mystery woman." As they settle in, Alex orders a whisky on the rocks and Caleb grimaces cynically, seeing Melanie is running late. "I'll just check in with her," Caleb says as he excuses himself. "Hey, running late!" He gives Melanie a text. "Yeah, almost there," Melanie replies after a few minutes. "My date is here just arriving,” Caleb says as he flashes his phone in front of Alex. “No hurry…I will move when she shows up.” Alex settles in and picks at his drink. Melanie came in and looked around so Caleb waved even if she could not see him. "Is That...??" Alex's eyes followed Caleb's pointing and discovered the same Melanie, his ex-fiancé, gone nearly a week without anyone knowing where she had disappeared to. Not sure; maybe someone else. Alex tries to gaslight himself knowing that Melanie has a twin sister that stays in Orion and he doesn't want to create a scene without getting his facts straight. "Are you able to see me?" Melanie texts Caleb, and he answers positively. "This section of the restaurant is not matching my aesthetics so let me show you to the VIP lounge," Melanie informs him. That means, "Excuse me, Alex," Caleb says getting up. "My date is here," Alex hears him say. " I'll make another table my target." Alex nods and starts packing his stuff to relocate to another table so that he can get a good look at Caleb’s mystery lady. "She doesn't want to dine in this part of the restaurant, so I will have to join her then I will pick you up once I finish with her so that I can drop you off at your hotel," Caleb informs Alex and he agrees. Caleb then walks over to Melanie, who is standing near Ryan, they smile and say nice hello to one another, then Melanie says she's late and apologizes. "No worries," Caleb remarks. “You are worth the wait,” Caleb answers her; nevertheless, he can swear he saw Ryan roll his eyes. After a quiet night's sleep, Melanie wakes up feeling rejuvenated. Driven to interact with her faith community and spend time in worship, she gets ready for church. She sensed the Lord quite powerfully in the church, she sang hymns and listened to the preaching her pastor raised that she left appreciatively changed and rejuvenated by the gift of fellowship.Melanie gets home after church, excited to see Ryan for their regular Sunday hangout that became a routine three weeks ago and she puts aside everything that she would need to get ready for the date night into a duffle bag, then she drives Kalinin's car to Ryans house, knowing that she doesn't want to go through the stress of hurrying down from Ryan's house in the evening when it is time for her date.Ryan is a very busy man who works two jobs, not because he is low on money but rather because he is so good at what he does, so she packs lightly and leaves the house without Kionna because even though she and Ryan are getting rather
“Shall we?” Caleb asks when he notices that Melanie’s mind seems to have drifted miles away, and he confirms his theory because Melanie almost jumps out of her skin when he touches her.“Mel… are you okay?” Ryan asks Melanie, sensing her unease, and she gives a smile that doesn’t reach her eyes as she nods.“We can just go back home if you change your mind about the date,” Ryan proposes. “I am sure that Caleb will not hold it against you, " Ryan suddenly decides for Caleb, acting like they are twins that share the telepathy bond.“Or will you?” Ryan suddenly asks Caleb, acknowledging his presence for the first time that night by putting him on the chopping block.“Of course, I won’t” Caleb replies, glaring at Ryan and returning the same energy that Ryan has been sending his way since they met that night.“I am okay, Ryan,” Melanie says.“Let’s go to the Private Oasis,” Melanie urges and Ryan leads them out of the restaurant to the upper level of Bistro Bliss. The private Oasis is an
Alex sits alone on the lower floor of Bistro Bliss, scanning the crowded room and wondering whether Caleb's mystery woman is Melanie because he knows that Melanie has a twin sister and they look too alike. His thoughts return to their stormy history, and Melanie's unexpected exit from Pearl Coast is still fascinating to him because nobody could find her, and all leads failed. He had done everything to find her because their previous debate was inconclusive, and the last time she caught him cheating, she slipped off the grid for a bit and crept back to him when she wanted to end the radio silence. He was confident that this time would be no different. “Could Melanie be in Orion? Her sister lives here, after all,” He wonders as he orders food and starts eating, but his hunger is gone, and his thoughts continue going back to Melanie as these two weeks without her have been misery. He sets his food aside and plunges himself into a 45-minute internal debate about whether to investigate
Melanie is finally able to escape the rather unsettling situation with Alex, and on getting to the bathroom, her hands tremble as she dials Shirley’s number but it goes straight to voice mail.“There is no reason to be worried yet” Melanie tries to calm herself, knowing that Shirley barely has the normal phone etiquette that a normal human being should have, and her lackadaisical attitude towards her phone usage is just Shirley being Shirley and she will call her back when she gets her voice mail.“I need to know that you are alright, so I need you to call me once you see this,” Melanie sends Shirley a text on WhatsApp before redialing her number just in case she picks it up, but the call goes to voicemail once again.Melanie tries calling again so that if the issue of her not picking up is as a result of her phone being on DND (do not disturb) her falls will override the DND, but the result is the same. Panic creeps in, and her heart sinks because even though she always blamed the p
In less than 30 minutes, Melanie and Caleb arrive at Kalinin’s house, and Melanie runs down from Caleb’s Rolls Royce into the house to start putting together her documents, forgetting that she didn’t ask Caleb to come into the house. Melanie doesn’t inform her sister about what drove her to run home and start gathering her documents immediately, but Kalinin patiently waits for her sister to be done with what she is doing Since she knows that if Melanie doesn’t finish up what she needs to do, she won’t tell her anything. Since Caleb wasn’t invited into the house, he didn’t bother going inside, he just stayed outside to make a few calls. Firstly, he makes calls to arrange his jet and notifies his preferred pilot to be ready in 30 minutes to fly him to Pearl Coast. Next, he puts a call through to Alistair to tell him about how his date went and also to tell him about the recent development. It took a lot of cajoling for him to be able to guarantee that Alistair would overse
Melanie experiences a mixture of emotions: fear for Shirley, thanks for Caleb's support, and admiration at the breathtaking view as the chopper rises away from Orion, leaving the city lights behind. As the chopper soars over the coast, Melanie's anxiousness resurfaces and Shirley’s immobility weighs heavily on Melanie’s thoughts. Caleb feels her tension and pours two glasses from the helicopter's mini-bar. "Here, drink this. It'll relieve your worries." Melanie hesitates, typically denying the alcohol because she doesn't like what it tastes like, but tonight, her fear overwhelms her reservations, so she accepts the glass, adoring the amber nectar. The rich, creamy flavor astonishes her and Caleb smiles, encouraging her to drink more. "It's my secret reserve, aged whiskey,” Caleb explains to Melanie and she takes another sip, feeling the warmth rise across her chest. As the chopper experiences turbulence, she downs the rest of the glass. Caleb refiles her glass, concern written on
“What do you mean by ‘this changes things’?” Alex asks Ryan confused, as he starts walking towards his mom’s office because he would rather have that conversation in person than on the phone. “That is because it changes a lot of things” Ryan emphasizes with his eyes darting back and forth in his mom's office, but he doesn't necessarily explain himself. “Can you explain and stop confusing me?” Alex snaps at Ryan because he has had enough of his dribbling. “You never mentioned your fiancée’s name to me and now I started crushing on your fiancée…both of us are even like best friends now,” Ryan confesses to Alex. “What do you mean that you are crushing on my fiancée?” Alex asks him visibly offended as he practically sprints toward Karen’s office“Before you called me and explained the situation in an obvious way, I didn’t know that she was your fiancée and that is because you never showed me any pictures of her nor told me her name even though I asked you for it on countless occasion
Ryan drives for a few minutes because of how close Kalinin’s estate is to Bistro Bills and in no time, he pulls over in front of Kalinin’s beautiful house. He knocks on the door even though it is quite late and he doesn't like visiting people this late, but the situation is different…it is Melanie who is involved here. He rings the doorbell for a while before Kalinin steps out with her hair disheveled, slightly tangled and messy, her sleep-flushed cheeks with a hint of warmth, her eyes slightly puffy with a sleepy gaze in a tank top and baggy sweat pants. “This can't be Melanie, it has to be Kalinin because what time did she get home that she is already sleeping?” Ryan jumps to conclusions as he eyes the lady in front of him from head to toe. “Good evening ma'am…I am Ryan, Mel’s friend” he introduces. “I know you” Kalinin answers him curtly because she is really tired after the day's activities and she just wants to get back to the comfort of her bed. “Sorry to disturb you
