“What do you mean by ‘this changes things’?” Alex asks Ryan confused, as he starts walking towards his mom’s office because he would rather have that conversation in person than on the phone.
“That is because it changes a lot of things” Ryan emphasizes with his eyes darting back and forth in his mom's office, but he doesn't necessarily explain himself. “Can you explain and stop confusing me?” Alex snaps at Ryan because he has had enough of his dribbling. “You never mentioned your fiancée’s name to me and now I started crushing on your fiancée…both of us are even like best friends now,” Ryan confesses to Alex. “What do you mean that you are crushing on my fiancée?” Alex asks him visibly offended as he practically sprints toward Karen’s office “Before you called me and explained the situation in an obvious way, I didn’t know that she was your fiancée and that is because you never showed me any pictures of her nor told me her name even though I asked you for it on countless occasions. ” Ryan explains to Alex. “Stop crushing on her” Alex orders as he opens the door to Karen’s office. “What do you mean?” Ryan asks him as he sets his eyes on his ex-schoolmate and friend that he hasn’t seen in years. “We have known each other for years Ryan and even though my father changed my school and location from Orion to Pearl Coat, I still kept in touch with you and I was always filling you in about the important details in my life which is enough to prove that I care so much about our friendship and we can’t allow Meelah come in between us okay?” Alex implores but Ryan doesn’t say anything because the look on his face is enough to prove that he is fighting his inner demons. “Let's not allow one person to ruin the years of trust, laughter, and memories we've shared." He emphasizes. “Scrap out what I said earlier, I don’t have a crush on Melanie, I am in love with her even though she has friend-zoned me, and my feelings are not something that I can turn on and off like a fucking switch” He looks Alex in the eye, admits his love for Melanie and Alex goes wide-eyed. “Even if I can, I don’t want to turn my feelings for Mel off, because spending two weeks with her and getting to her has proven that she is worth every bit of love that I extend in her direction” Ryan keeps pointing his finger in Alex’s direction to emphasize his point. “But she is mine, she can never accept your so-called true feelings Ryan” Alex tries to discourage Ryan. “She is not yours Alex…” Ryan looks his friend in the eye as he pronounces, which catches him off guard. “She didn’t mention your name, but she told me that the reason why she came here is because she broke up with her fiancé and she will tell me the full story later but man, that is enough to prove that she is not yours” Ryan expatiates. “I don’t know what she told you, but our relationship was just going through a rough patch…you know that couples fight and we had our fight like we always did and she ran away, but that is not anything out of the ordinary because she always does that but, she will eventually come back to me like she always does” Alex feeds his delusion while Ryan sends him a skeptical look because something just tells him that if what Alex is saying is the truth, Mel would have mentioned it since she told him about her Ex without him asking so why did she now withhold a piece of information as important as that from him. “Why are you looking at me like you don’t believe what I am saying” Alex calls Ryan out immediately. “I wasn’t going to say anything to you until I spoke to Mel and asked her about what happened myself but my face gave you the subtitles of what was going on in my mind” Ryan admits without really telling Alex that he doesn’t believe him. “I am not telling you to turn off your feelings, I am just trying to let you know that there are boundaries that you can’t cross with Meelah because, in less than six months, she will be Mrs. Melanie Sinclair” Alex marks his territory and Ryan almost burst into laughter but he controls himself, making a mental note to ask Mel to clarify everything that is going on once he picks her up. “ You mentioned earlier that we can’t allow a girl to come in between everything that we have shared, so come and gist me about what has been going on with you recently…you only told me that you were coming to my base, but you didn’t go into details” Ryan completely shifts the focus of the conversation from Mel. Alex welcomes the shift in the conversation and starts filling Ryan in on the main reason why he is in Orion, how long he is supposed to stay, and how long he plans to stay as they have a drink at the mini bar inside Karen’s office. The vibe of their conversation doesn’t change or hint that they had a scuffle earlier, both of them are just having a nice time in each other’s company. Alex gets tired and says that he wants to go get Caleb to drop him off at his hotel, but Ryan offers to drop him off instead so that he can know where he stays. They drive for a while before stopping in front of a building that has a sleek, silver-grey granite ,with expansive glass windows and sliding doors to allow natural light in. Ryan gets out of his car to escort Alex to his room and a majestic porte-cochère (covered entrance) welcomes him, supported by slender pillars and adorned with subtle LED lighting. The main entrance doors are made of polished glass and bronze, sliding open to reveal a spacious lobby buy Ryan doesn’t get far into the hotel when he suddenly remembers that Mel is not mobile and he has to drop her at his house so that she can go back home in her sister's car, so he apologizes to Alex and rushes back to his mom's restaurant. As Ryan drives back to Bistro Bliss, he plays soft music in his car, but his thoughts drift back to the conversation that he had with Alex and he can’t help but notice that Alex is not just in a state of Denial about the true status of his relationship with Mel, he is also being disrespectful about whatever issue caused their break up, manipulative and entitled that he can’t wait to see Mel and just ask her for the full story. On getting to his mom's restaurant, he asks one of the waiters to check Mel in the private oasis, giving her a description of what Mel looks like, but the waiter comes back and tells him that Melanie is not in the private oasis, which confuses him because if she is not there, where is she? He takes out his phone to make a call through to her but her number is switched off so he rushes to Kalinin’s house without going back to his mom’s office.Ryan drives for a few minutes because of how close Kalinin’s estate is to Bistro Bills and in no time, he pulls over in front of Kalinin’s beautiful house. He knocks on the door even though it is quite late and he doesn't like visiting people this late, but the situation is different…it is Melanie who is involved here. He rings the doorbell for a while before Kalinin steps out with her hair disheveled, slightly tangled and messy, her sleep-flushed cheeks with a hint of warmth, her eyes slightly puffy with a sleepy gaze in a tank top and baggy sweat pants. “This can't be Melanie, it has to be Kalinin because what time did she get home that she is already sleeping?” Ryan jumps to conclusions as he eyes the lady in front of him from head to toe. “Good evening ma'am…I am Ryan, Mel’s friend” he introduces. “I know you” Kalinin answers him curtly because she is really tired after the day's activities and she just wants to get back to the comfort of her bed. “Sorry to disturb you
Melanie slowly opens her eyes, lethargically taking in her surroundings, and she is met with the sight of Caleb’s chiseled features, his eyes gazing softly at her. They’re in a luxurious hotel room, the morning sun filtering through the curtains and she thinks back to the list place she was the last night and it was inside Caleb's private jet, so her expression changes from relaxation to discomfort as memories of their intense night flood back. She tries to sit up so that she can figure out her next move but Caleb’s arm wraps around her, holding her close “Good morning, beautiful,” Caleb whispers, his voice husky and Melanie’s cheeks flush awkwardly as she extricates herself from his embrace to sit down upright on the bed because that position is too distracting for her to think straight. “Morning,” She replies curtly, avoiding eye contact. “Regrets?” Caleb asks as he notices her unease and raises an eyebrow. “No time for regrets…we have work to do” Her tone is clipped, dism
Melanie and Caleb stand frozen, their eyes locked in a profound connection. Time seemed to fade away as they delved deeper into each other’s souls. The air is charged with an unspoken understanding, a sense of vulnerability and openness. Caleb’s gaze wanders through Melanie’s chocolate brown eyes, searching for answers to unspoken questions and Melanie in turn, finds herself lost in the golden flecks dancing within Caleb’s irises, like caramel-colored leather. Their face inclines as if drawn by an invisible force, their lips barely an inch apart. The tension between them is palpable, a spark waiting to ignite. “Housekeeping!” unexpectedly, a knock on the door shatters the spell and Melanie’s eyes snap back to reality, while Caleb’s face mirrors her surprise. “Right,” Melanie stammers, taking a step back. “Breakfast.” She remembers, and Caleb clears his throat. “Yeah, we should go,” He says as they reluctantly part ways and Melanie smoothens her hair, attempting to compose hersel
Melanie's hands shake as she pushes open Alex's door after entering her fiancé's passcode. She hadn’t planned on coming here today, but the stress of a prospective pregnancy has forced her to seek consolation in the one person that she feels she can trust. She is ten days overdue for her period, and she is beginning to lose her mind about her mother's likely response. “How is mommy going to respond?” Her stomach knots at the thought. Before taking a pregnancy test, she feels like she should speak with Alex face-to-face so that he can mentally get ready to become a parent if the findings are positive. "Alex?” Melanie yells, "I need to talk to you," She says as she enters, but no one answers. Melanie starts to get nervous since she knows for sure that Alex is at home since his car is parked outside. “How could he be anywhere else?” Her pulse is pounding as she moves from the living area to Alex's bedroom. “What if he reacts badly?” she thinks and She notices them at that p
Once Melanie and Alex split up, Alex enters denial mode that he would rather focus on Melanie's eternal place in the afterlife instead of giving up that she is just gone, period. He is confident that she will come begging for him to return and that he is what she needs so doesn't bother to chase her and he doesn't talk to her for three days at which point he is boiling in hate and disdain. “Where are you?” “Why are you ignoring me?” On the fourth day of their breakup, Melanie reads Alex's text message after Shirley and her neighbors told her about Alex showing up at the house as well as right in front of where she works. Melanie is terrified and she pulls out her phone, texts her twin sister Kalinin about what is happening, in case something does happen to her. Melanie sighs and sets her phone down because Kalinin is a medical doctor, so she might working in the hospital. “How are you, baby girl?” Kalinin replies almost immediately “I am not fine,” Melanie replies, unable to
Melanie takes the next few days pondering if Kalinin asking her to move to Orion is the right decision to make and she would have loved to get a second opinion from someone else but she has been betrayed by friends too many times and now she had cut off all her friends for the sake of her mental health. Melanie hands over her beauty studio to Shirley to manage for the six months that she may likely be away from Pearl Coast and she ties up a few loose ends. Melanie books her flight to Orion and informs the parties involved that she will be in Orion the next day. Melanie did not think saying her goodbye to Shirley was going to be hard because her assistant was the coolest thing that she had to a friend at the moment. The next morning, Melanie ducks out in the early dawn of her last days in Pearl Coast, packing stuff, and saying her final goodbye to her assistant, She then checks in for her six-hour flight to Orion at the airport. She gets a coffee and makes herself comfortable a
“Why didn't you speak to me before putting me on that dating site?” she demands an answer from Kalinin “We did not want to that is why hurt you,” Kalinin answers. “…But you need to begin living again.” She proclaims unapologetically. “Mom doesn't know about the state you are in and I know that you will be alright...it is just a matter of time.” She sounds like she is trying to console Melanie but she is threatening her with this statement. “It is not as simple as you make it sound,” Melanie complains. “Well sure, but we just want to get you out of your shell, we can cut it out eventually if that is what you want.” Kalinin is quick to assure. “I feel like you are trying to rush me into things.” Melanie sobs. “I thought leaving Alex would help but now I am lost.” she completely breaks down. “Why can't you just allow me to figure shit out on my own?” Melanie complains again. “We thought moving you away from all the reminders would help make it easier for you, but we are sti
“Hey Meelah, hope you’re doing well. It's Alex’s uncle, Ethan.” the text reads. “I know that this might seem unexpected, but I've been thinking about you lately and I wanted to reach out,” he continues. “you’re an incredible person, and I always thought you deserved better than my nephew so, would you love to grab a coffee and catch up sometime?” Melanie’s eyes widen as she reads the message from Alex’s uncle. She couldn’t believe he would reach out to her like that. Although Ethan Sinclair’s message seems friendly and casual, but Melanie can't help but feel that it sounds slightly flirtatious. Melanie feels a mix of emotions: surprise, discomfort, and a hint of fear and even though Ethan is being respectful by acknowledging the past relationship but he is also showing interest in getting to know Melanie, she doesn’t know how to respond or even if she wants to. Trying to shake off the uneasy feeling, Melanie decides to focus on something else. She suddenly remembers the datin
