Elena’s P.O.V.
“That is strange,” I murmured, sitting before the mirror, my gaze locked on my reflection with a mix of surprise and confusion. In my black hair, some thick braids were turning golden. This looked pretty, but strange.
My hair was black, and now it was turning golden in one night. Is this magic?
“Ahhhh, Beta’s daughter, you are never so lucky to possess any power. You are weak and even wolf-less. Everybody hates you, especially the Moon Goddess, and do you think that she will give you a hidden power? Oh no. She just gave me a good appearance that proved to be useless.” I sighed in helplessness. But a tall figure’s reflection waved in front of my eyes.
“Declan.” He claimed that I was his mate, but I knew he couldn’t accept this bond. He was Alpha King’s son. He can’t do that. But he was kind in a place filled with mean and selfish people. He listens to me, cares for me, and has a kind heart.
“Elena, it's 8 o'clock. Where have you been?” A commanding voice took me out of my imaginary world. I suddenly got up and ran outside. This was the time for breakfast, and I had to be there to serve Alpha and his pack. Yes, to serve as a slave, because I deserve this.
‘I am sorry, Marry. I was late today.” I mumbled, bowing my head. Marry was the special maid of this house.
“It’s okay, Elena. Just take that tray to the table, and please be careful not to stumble. We wouldn't want to incur their anger." She said politely that she was the only one who talked to me nicely. I nodded and headed toward the dining hall. Alpha Steven and his son were sitting proudly on the head chair, flanked by my sister, Emma, and my mother, the Beta of the Gray Pack. Alpha Alexander, my mate, looked at me with a sneer.
In a pack where strength and power were valued above all else, I was weak. They were happily having their breakfast. They never feel anything for me. I approached, set the tray before them, and stood by their side, bowing my head.
“Tell me what you want on your birthday, Emma.” Alpha Alexander asked lovingly. They were going to marry soon. My sister was going to marry my mate, and I was helpless to do anything.
"Ah, Elena,” I sighed. I turned 17, but no one was there to wish me. They don’t even remember that Emma and I have the same birth date. She was celebrating her birthday, and I cried in my shattered room.
I longed for a word of acknowledgment, a sign that I mattered. But instead, I remained invisible, just as I always had. I was the "human" in a family of wolves.
Alpha Steven continued to praise Emma's accomplishments while my mother, a caring Beta, served food. My father died long ago; maybe if he were alive, my situation would be different.
She occasionally glanced in my direction, concern etched into her eyes. She had never wanted this life for me, but as the Beta’s daughter, I was expected to be a part of the pack, even if I had no wolf.
“Did you tell her, Alpha?” Emma said with a glint of sarcasm in her voice. Alexander’s cold gaze bore into me, his expression twisted with a mixture of disdain. He was well aware that he was my mate, but he chose my sister over me. Emma was everything I wasn't—a girl with healing power. I had no such powers, no latent abilities, and it had left me feeling like a slave.
Finding his gaze, I looked at him confusedly. What was he going to tell me?
"Oh, I almost forgot," Alpha sneered, looking down at me. "Listen, girl. We've finally decided on your useless existence. Alpha of Crescent Pack needs a breeder for his son ‘Eric’; and our Alpha decided that you'll be handed over to him." His words hit her like a physical blow. I felt a surge of defiance rise within me.
“Eric, he is a cripple, a man who can’t even walk. A fitting match for a girl like her.” These were the words of my sister, but I was still in shock.
“H.. how? He killed my father; how can you allow this?” My lips trembled in shock. My mother didn’t say even a word, and Emma was calm. How can they forget dad’s death so easily?
“That is the only thing that could end the enmity among us. You have no right to refuse.” Alpha commanded. Handed over as a breeder and to my dad’s killer? That thought made bile rise in my throat. I looked at Emma’s sarcastic smile, Alexander’s disdainful gaze, and my mother’s bowed head.
“I will not be a breeder for you or anyone else." With a deep breath, I declared, my voice trembling but filled with determination. I could feel the bruises forming on my skin from the last beating I had received, a punishment for daring to speak out of turn, but I couldn’t hold anymore. I will not bow this time.
“How dare you?” With a surge of anger, Alexander rose from his seat and moved towards me. Before I could even comprehend what was happening, his hand connected with my cheek in a resounding slap. The sting of his palm against my skin jolted me, and I fell to the ground.
I gasp for breath, tasting blood in my mouth. The pain was sharp, but now I was used to it. Every single day, I never escaped a beating. But today I felt a surge of defiance rise within me. I refused to accept this fate that had been thrust upon me because I was wolf-less. I slowly pushed myself up onto my elbows, my body aching but my spirit unyielding. Alexander stood over me, his eyes filled with disdain and superiority.
"You are a disgrace," he sneered. "A shame upon our pack. You will learn your place, one way or another."
“You rejected me; I didn’t utter a word. But I will not accept this. Never.” I struggled to my feet, swaying slightly but refusing to back down.
Alpha Alexander watched me with a mixture of frustration and something else flickering in his eyes. "You leave me no choice," he said coldly. "You will learn to obey, Elena. And if not, you will face the consequences."
My heart raced as I tried to understand what he said. Was this going to be my life? Just a toy for the Alpha? Forced to breed without any say? I shook my head. Despite feeling scared and in pain, I knew I had to stand up for myself.
I took a deep breath, stood tall, and looked Alpha Alexander in the eye.
"I won't be treated like a breeder for the sake of your pack," I said firmly. "I'll fight for my rights. I may be wolfless, but I am not without strength. I will not be a breeder for your Alpha, nor will I accept this fate," I declared, my words echoing with determination that silenced the room.
“You will regret it," Alexander warned, then turned to his father.
“Throw her into the dungeon and beat her until she agrees,” Alpha commanded, and Alexander nodded. “It has to be done," he muttered, turning away from the sight.
As I was dragged away to the dungeon, my mind raced with several thoughts. How can he do that to me? He never felt hurt by my suffering. How can he endure this so easily?
“No, I won’t bow this time. I will end my life, but I won’t be a breeder for a cripple Alpha.”
Lying in the cold dungeon, my body throbbed with pain from the beating I endured. I tried to get up, but the pain in my body made me paralyzed. My mind raced with fear and anger. How could they treat me like this just because I hadn't shifted yet? It wasn't my fault that I didn't have a wolf.If I weren’t so weak, I would not be there. This thought made me cry. Everyone knew that I was weak and wolf-less.Why did I have to bear all this? Why was I born, Moon Goddess? There was no need for me. I was born years ago, got humiliation every day, and now I will die like that.I always longed for someone to love me, but it never happened. Nobody talked to me nicely except Declan."Declan..." His thought gave me hope. Where could he be? Did he know what was happening to me? Would he come to save me? He promised he would protect me, but why isn't he here now?I looked at my bruised and swollen body, the evidence of their cruelty. As I tried to sit up, I heard the sound of the door opening, and
“Stop.” A heavy and commanding voice cut through the silence. My heart raced as I turned to see who it was. A big man entered with four men beside him. Our pack’s guard struggled to get out of his grip but couldn’t. Standing in front of us, he cut the throat of the guard and then tossed the lifeless body at Alpha Steven’s feet.Alpha Steven got up from his seat. His face turned pale, and sweat appeared on his forehead. I never saw him like that.“We thought you would be troubled. That's why I have come.” I heard his heavy, arrogant voice.“Alpha Logan.” Everyone bowed in reverence to him. In shock, I looked at him again. He was sitting majestically on the couch.Dark blond hair, almond-shaped eyes whose ice blue color was giving me a chill, strong cheekbones, short stubble, and full lips, with a slightly flat upper lip. Three buttons on his shirt were unbuttoned, revealing perfectly toned chest muscles. I never saw him, but Declan always talked about his perfect brother, ‘Alpha Logan’
When my eyes opened, I felt a sense of unease. Confusion clouded my mind as I tried to piece together the events leading up to this moment."Where am I?” Curiosity overcame me, and I couldn’t help but wonder: What was this place?Instead of the somber darkness and a cage I had expected, I found myself in a warm and inviting room. The soft glow emanating from the lights created an atmosphere of comfort and solace. The room appeared to be well-furnished, with cozy armchairs and a crackling fireplace that radiated gentle warmth."Where am I?” A wave of fear washed over me. To my surprise, I found myself in a blue silk gown.“He took me here; why?” I whispered in shock. Frantically, I looked around the room, hoping to find some answers.Suddenly, a chilling sound pierced through the silence, causing a shiver to run down my spine. The next moment, the door opened, and a figure standing beside the door caught my attention. She was a maid, maybe."W., where is Declan?” I asked nervously.“Al
With a jerk, he pushed me aside, and I stumbled. Suddenly, my mind becomes blank. What did he say? Why don’t I remember it now? He said something, but what was it? Why did it disappear from my mind in a moment?“You will be presented in the pack’s council at lunar night. The rule must be followed, and you will be punished for what you made my brother do.” He sneered and got up from his seat. I looked at him in shock.“What did I do? I didn’t even meet Declan for a month.” I took a step back and said it with trembling lips. Pack’s council name sent a shiver down my spine.“Don’t try to fool me. You have to bear the consequences. I never forgive; you will pay for the crime you committed.” He said it with disdain and moved forward. The breath stuck in my throat."Don't, please, don’t do it. I will do what you say. Please tell me where Declan is. Is he fine?” I asked, and suddenly he came closer to me.“What will you give me in return, little girl?" He demanded.“I can work here as your m
The night breeze slips through the cracks in this cramped little cupboard, and my thin top is no protection against the cold. I hugged myself and clutched the worn sheet in my hands with shaking hands. Tears lingered in the corners of my eyes.I looked around to find that I was not alone. Many young girls were there, all tired, broken, and unconscious.I tried to move my hands some more, but couldn’t. There are giant chains around my hands; they must know that they will be strong enough to break free from the rope. This, on the other hand, didn't seem like a regular chain. It looked like the kind that held giant beasts captive. My heart rate accelerates, and my movements become more desperate."HELP!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. "SOMEBODY HELP ME!"Damn Alexander! I will have my revenge. It had been a day since they dragged me to this dark, cold dungeon. I still couldn’t piece together the reason why, but I knew—today was the day of my sentencing. The murmur of the guards outsi
"Elena and I were madly in love," Declan began, his voice barely a whisper, and my breath caught in my throat. He paused, letting the weight of his words settle over the room. I clenched my fists, feeling the sharp sting of my nails digging into my palms. "What... what are you talking about, Declan?" I managed to choke out, my voice trembling. He turned his gaze toward me, his eyes hard."On the day I attempted to take my life," he continued, "I received a letter and a dagger from Elena. I recognized her handwriting immediately. Every curve of every word was hers." His voice wavered for a moment, a flicker of the old Declan surfacing, but then he forced it down, his expression hardening. "In the letter, she revealed that Alpha Alexander had decided to marry her off to a disabled man. She pleaded for me to take a stand for her, and if I failed, she threatened to end her life with the very same poisoned dagger she had sent me. I did what she wanted. That’s all I knew." His voice grew
When my eyes opened, I felt a sense of unease, as if I were in a dark place. The absence of light made me question my surroundings. Was I in a grave? The thought sent shivers down my spine, but I quickly dismissed it as something I felt strange. Confusion clouded my mind as I tried to piece together the events leading up to this moment.Suddenly, a memory resurfaced. I remember the council meeting. The realization hit me like a wave, leaving me bewildered and disoriented. What happened to me? How did I end up in this mysterious situation?“Where am I?” Curiosity overcame me, and I couldn't help but wonder: Despite the initial confusion and apprehension, the cozy room provided a sense of refuge, a temporary respite from the unknown. As I gathered my bearings, I was back into the same room.“He took me back? Didn’t he kill me? Maybe Declan save me?”Feeling strange, I woke up from a deep slumber. As I removed the blanket and checked my surroundings, a wave of fear washed over me. To my
“Remember me?” He leaned closer, his voice a low, rough whisper. His smile was cold, almost mocking, as he watched me struggle to find my voice. My mouth opened, but no words came out—I was too stunned, too scared. Why hadn’t he killed me yet? I was at the council meeting but now….I yanked the blanket over myself, retreating back against the wall, my body trembling. He chuckled softly, the sound dark and unsettling. “Don't worry, Omega. I don't eat sweet things so quickly. I like to savor them... slowly.” His eyes gleamed with something dangerous. My breath caught in my chest—did he just smile? No, he can’t. He is a devil.“M-My clothes?” I stammered, my voice barely a whisper, fear tightening my throat.“Gone. Threw them away. I don’t like dirty things.” His voice was deep, and rough, sending shivers through me. I couldn’t understand—why did he bring me here? What did he want from me?I forced myself to ask, though my voice shook. “Where am I?” His eyes never left me, sharp and in
