Prologue

“She is wolf-less, worse even than omega. How dare she try to marry my son? She must pay for it.” Alpha King was yelled, walking furiously. Hearing these words, Declan stood frozen in the doorway, his heart pounding. His father's words hung heavy in the air, suffocating him. He quickly entered the room. Alpha Logan, his older brother and the Alpha King's right hand, turned to look at him with a hardened expression. The disappointment in his brother's eyes cut Declan deeper than any blade ever could.

“I want her alive or dead. Kill that low girl.” The Alpha King's voice echoed through the room, commanding and cold. Hearing the order to kill her, Declan felt a surge of anger rises within him. His father's words were like a death sentence, a request that tore at his very soul.

"No!" Declan's voice rang in the room. “She is innocent. This was just my intention. You won’t touch her.” Alpha King's gaze turned to Declan, his eyes flashing with fury.

"You dare defy me, boy?" he growled, the power of his command vibrating through the room. Declan felt the pressure of the order, threatening to crush him under its weight.

"We allow you to play with her but you start loving her. She must be punished for it." Alpha Logan, sitting proudly on the couch, chimed in with a sneer. Hearing him, Alpha looked at his elder son with pride. He was like his father, and that was a thing he could be proud of. He despised weak people.

“What is her fault? I proposed to her, brother. Why don’t you leave her? Let her live, please. I promise I will never meet her again in my life.” Declan screamed this time. Logan got up in an instant and grabbed his collar at his disobedience furiously.

“You know the laws of our pack," he said with disdain. "A wolf-less cannot be mated to a prince, let alone the future Alpha." Declan froze at his words; he never talked to him like this. Looking at the shocking expression in Declan’s eyes, Logan pursed his lips and controlled himself. He left the collar and put his hand on his shoulder.

"Declan," he began, his voice softer now but no less authoritative. "I cannot allow this. The consequences would be catastrophic for our pack, for our people. Forget about her. We will find you a new girl.” He patted Declan’s shoulder and said in a soft tone. Declan felt a wave of despair wash over him.

"Dad, I will do anything to prove that she is worthy," he pleaded, his voice cracking with emotion.

“You must follow the rule, Logan will let her there, and in the wolf’s council you have to kill her from your own hands to get back the title you lost.” Declan felt a surge of bitterness rises within him. The rules and traditions of their pack had always chafed at him, but never had they felt so oppressive as they did at that moment.

Declan stood there, torn between loyalty to his pack and love for Elena, who held his heart, he knew that he could not end her life. She was not just an omega to him; she was his equal. With a deep breath, Declan met his father's steely gaze.

"I refuse your order, Alpha. I cannot do that." His tone was firm. Alpha King's expression darkened at his defiance.

"You leave me no choice, Declan." Alpha King's voice was low, his authority undeniable.

"I will not tolerate insubordination in my own family. If you refuse to carry out this order, then I will have no choice but to strip you of your title as my heir." The words hit Declan like a physical blow, the weight of his father's threat crashing down on him. To be disinherited was a fate worse than death in their pack, a mark of shame that would follow him for the rest of his days.

But as he stood there, grappling with the repercussions of his defiance, Declan knew in his heart that he could not abandon Elena. She was his mate, his true love, and he would fight for her no matter the cost.

"I accept whatever punishment you see fit to give me, Father," Declan said, his voice unwavering despite the fear and uncertainty swirling within him. "But I will not betray my heart." The Alpha King's jaw clenched.

"Dad, she will be punished. Don't worry." Logan said in his cruel and cold tone.

“No, you will not even touch her. If you try to harm her, I will take my life. I will kill myself.” Declan stood up and yelled for the first time.

“Keep your voice down. You will talk to Alpha like this for a low girl?" Logan pushed him aside in anger.

“A wolf-less will become the daughter-in-law of this family? Now listen to me, you will not step out of this mansion. Dad, Don't worry about this girl, If he doesn’t follow the rule, then I will put her in such a place that she will not come back.” With a hint of Logan's eye, his special employee had brought his mobile phone to him.

“Who are you calling?  She is only 17 years old. She is an innocent girl. Dam it. Please don't send any of your goons there. I beg. Stop everyone. I was the one who promised to marry her. So give me punishment too. Kill me, dad.” Declan tried to snatch the phone from his hand but two guards held him back. Logan stopped, looked at his face, and stood up.

“You promised to marry her but you forgot about her protection. I hate that kind of cowardly love. Love is a crime and Remember, I am Logan, I will not forgive until I take all the revenge.” He was so close that Logan’s hot breath hit his face.

"That girl of yours should have thought before falling in love with you. Now I will decide her fate and everyone will see what the punishment for breaking the law is.” The room fell silent, the gravity of the situation weighing heavily on each member of the family. Declan knew that his brother was capable of unspeakable cruelty when his pride and honor were at stake, and he feared the consequences of his words. He knew no one could stop him now. He was fearless; even the fear trembled in front of him. He quickly turned and left the room.

“Logan, I am really worried about him.” Alpha King’s worried tone surprised Logan too. He never saw him like that.

“Don’t worry, we will send him out of the pack house, he will forget that girl but don’t force him to follow the rule of council. He can’t do that but I promise, that girl would suffer to death. I ordered the Alpha of Grey pack to kill or send that girl into the dungeon.” Alpha Logan tried to calm him. As he finished, a servant rushed into the room.

"Alpha," he stammered, "Young Master... he's locked himself in his room.” Hearing this, Logan's eyes narrowed, his jaw tightening with concern.

“Don’t worry, I will check him.” He tried to calm his father and turned.

"Let’s go to him," he commanded, rising swiftly from his seat. Rook led Logan through winding corridors until they reached Declan's room.

“Declan, open the door.” Logan waited a little but there was no reply. He motioned to Rook, Rook wasted no time; with a forceful push, he attempted to open the door, but couldn’t.

"Stand back," Logan ordered, his voice a low growl. With a powerful kick, Alpha splintered the door. Horror washed over him as he took in the sight before him. Declan laid upon the floor, lifeless, a sliver bane clutched in his hand.

"No!" Logan bellowed, rushing to his brother's side. He knelt beside Declan, a sense of helplessness consuming him.

The servant hovered nervously in the doorway. Logan's hands trembled as he reached out to touch his brother's cold skin. He touched his heart, and it stopped. He was dead.

"Why, Declan? Why you did do this?" A sob escaped his lips as he spoke, his voice barely above a whisper.

“Alpha. There is a note beside bed table.” Rook, handed him a piece of paper, he knew Declan’s handwriting.

“I cannot live in a world where you are not safe, Elena.  Forgive me for the pain I am about to cause, but know that my love for you will transcend even death itself." Reading it, Logan's heart clenched with sorrow and rage. His eyes burned with fury as he rose to his feet, his fists clenched at his sides.

"A girl became so important that you turned your back on a life-like heaven." He touched his face slightly. His eyes were getting moist but he was a man, he could not even cry.

"Suicide? For the sake of a girl? Just for a girl?" This was a deep shock. When he wanted to touch his forehead with his fingers, one tear after another kept falling. His heart was bursting with pain. He couldn't see him anymore; this thought was driving him crazy. But he was not a weak man. He can’t mourn like a weak man. With a heavy heart and a burning soul, Alpha Logan turned away from his lifeless body.

"Elena," he muttered, the name dripping with venom. "She will pay for what she has done."
