Azai’s POVI stood at the open door watching her take off into the woods, I wanted to follow her, but I needed to finish this argument more than anything. I spun around walking back to the table where my father was standing, his face full of shock.“What do you have to say now? She didn’t submit to you; she didn’t submit to me. She is the wolf that you claim doesn’t exist. She is the Celestite wolf, father. I didn’t want to bring her here; she commanded me to bring her. It is my duty to keep her safe,” I said to him loudly.“Wait,” Zaine interrupted, “she commanded you? She can command you what to do, but you neither of you can command her.”“Badass,” Callie whispered before realizing she was speaking aloud. My father looked at me, “we will discuss this later. I need to go see what I can find on this.” He strode off in the direction of his study.I looked to Zaine, “take them back upstairs, I’m going to find her.”I turned around running toward the back porch and shifted midair as I le
I turned around in the mirror as Callie helped me zip up my dress. I wore a navy-blue cocktail dress that was covered in sparkles. It was spaghetti straps with a v neck and stopped just at the knee with a slit up my thigh. I had chosen a pair of Christian Louboutin covered in an array of metallic strass. My long brown hair was curled and hung loose.Callie was wearing a satin amethyst colored knee length cocktail dress with off the shoulder sleeves with black strappy pumps, her long blonde hair in a gorgeous sideswept fishtail braid. Our makeup was done very naturally with just the right amount of gloss on our lips.“The only thing missing is Arabella,” Callie smiled at me in the mirror. A knock sounded on our door, and Callie walked over to open it. Caleb stood there leaning against the doorway, “you ladies ready?” he had changed from his guardian uniform into a nice suit from Armani. Callie opened the door all the way and put her hands in the air as she turned to show off the dress
As Circe went back inside to join the other royals, I stayed on the back porch. Callie and Caleb joined me, not sure whether to question me or not. I wasn’t particularly in the mood for it, I wanted this day to be over, I wanted everything to go back to normal, I wanted my family back in one piece. Was being the Celestite wolf something my family was really blessed with because it was really feeling like a curse.“Give me space guys,” I said to Callie and Caleb. They looked at each other then silently walked inside, I’d be out here on the porch by myself. I leaned against the railing, looking up at the moon, pondering everything I’d learned today about my mother, my brother, the accident.Do you think I am a curse? Amara asked me. Did I? No, not Amara. Being the Celestite wolf itself, yes. I would much prefer to me normal. We were born to be extraordinary, Amara said trying to cheer me up. It wasn’t working though. Aunt Tasha was all I had left as far as family went, my brother was to
I had showered and slept a few more hours after sneaking back inside the living quarters we were in. I tied the end of my fish tail braid and walked over to put on my white converse. I was wearing an oversized grey sweater with black leggings and tube socks that were bunched up by my ankle. It was a little chilly as the winter was setting in and I wanted to be comfy for the drive home. After last night I would probably spend most of the trip sleeping. Caleb and Callie had already gone downstairs. I walked out of the bedroom and only Zaine was waiting on me. “Alpha already went down.” He said, seeing the question on my face. I didn’t say anything as I walked out and down the steps, slowly heading out to the front of the castle. Azai stood out front, talking in hushed tones with his father. His glanced over at me for a moment but continued with his conversation. “You’ll be riding with Callie and Caleb this time,” Zaine said quietly as he pointed to the escalade
When we returned to the pack house, the weeks felt like they flew by. We trained every morning, I worked with Tasha immediately after to try to figure out my powers, sometimes into the evening. Then I’d usually go to the gym and do solo training on my own to increase my strength, or I’d let Amara out for a run, which I was only allowed to do with Zaine or Caleb, but never alone. Training with Tasha was the most frustrating and exhausting of it all. I did learn that when I felt something strongly enough, I could project it onto others, calmness, anger, sadness, and it would dilute their own feelings, they would feel mine. We still couldn’t figure out the compulsion Amara had done but we kept trying at it. We also continued to work on my ability to separate her from my body. That part wasn’t hard but bringing us back together took a lot out of me. She would run at me, and it would look like she was going to hit me but instead my body would absorb her. The first time I’d don
Caleb had just walked me back to my room, it was a little after 1 am. I showered to get the bonfire smell off me and put on an oversized shirt for bed after towel drying my hair. As I tried to snuggle up into my comfy bed, I realized I didn’t feel very tired, I felt awake. I had ever since that drink Dimitri had given me. The more I laid there, in the dark, I could feel my earlier irritation coming back. The irritation that the Alpha seemed to be avoiding me and wasn’t even sleeping in his own room just to avoid me. I got up and started to pace around. Why didn’t I just confront him about it? I could have just demanded to know earlier, gotten Amara to compel it out of him. I huffed, realizing that now I was probably too drunk to be able to do that. Fine, I would just find him and confront him, I decided. I marched over to the door and as I quickly swung it open, I saw Alpha Azai walking into his room. He turned around when he heard me and raised an eyebrow at me
I woke up from my phone going off for what felt like the hundredth time. Arabella was calling, I silenced it and looked at the time. It was already 2 pm, although I wasn’t too surprised since the sun had already been coming up when I finally went to sleep. I got up slowly, a soreness between my legs from the events of last night. I got up and went to the shower, turning it on hot as could be. As steam filled the shower and I stood in the hot water I felt my body start to relax and sooth itself. Replaying the events of the night before, the night I lost my virginity to the Alpha, him saying how much of a mistake it was. Don’t forget drinking his blood, Amara yawned. Oh shit. That had been the last thing on my mind. Why did I do that? I remember how good he smelled; I remember focusing on the throbbing vein in his neck as we finished together. Did he know what I’d done, or did he think he was mistaken when he felt his neck but there was no wound. How did I heal it
Alessia’s POV It was a little past 7 pm, we rode in one of the pack navigators. Caleb was driving, Ara and Callie were in the car with us. “We’re running late,” I said quietly. “It’s totally fine,” Ara said confidently, “it’s your birthday dinner, you can be however late you want to be.” She turned from the front seat and smiled big at me. Caleb parked in front of the restaurant as we got out. He offered me his arm to escort me in. Callie and Ara following behind us as we walked inside, “Ms. Astor, right this way!” We followed the host to a private room in the back where Ryan, Liam, Austin and Shayla were waiting for us. Shayla was clearly showing, werewolves had half the pregnancy length of humans thanks to our supernatural abilities. I was happy for my brother, but it reminded me yet again how he hadn’t even bothered to tell me. He had an open seat beside him and he got up to pull it out for me. I smiled going to sit by him,
*Five days later*Alpha Azai POVIt was just over a month now since I’d been back to the packhouse. My construction crew was working nonstop on the house I had going up here in the clearing. I continued to stay in the tent. Zaine often brought me my evening meals and I’d be hunting in the morning while letting my wolf stretch his legs.I’d just gotten back from hunting when my phone rang. Looking at it, it was Alpha Austin.“Alpha Austin, I’d heard you returned home. How are you?” I asked him. Honestly, I didn’t care but pleasantries were required when I was trying to stay close to his sister.“Truthfully, I’ve been better Alpha Azai. I think we’ve got a problem,” he said gravely.“What’s going on?”“Caleb returned to Dark Moon, right?”“Yes, five days ago I believe. Why?”He sighed, “I thought maybe my sister went with him. The omegas went to turnover her room though before she returned home, and her phone and a bracelet were left on the table.”“Where is her mate?” I asked, my stoma
I racked my brain, trying to process any reason as to why Dimitri would feel the need to use a potion on me. Amara and I could only come back to one conclusion.Pulling back up at the packhouse there was a scene out front. Liam had his arms around Shayla who was crying and screaming. My brother stood at the doors, his face stern. I got out slowly, slowly trying to approach the situation. When Shayla finally noticed me was when she lost her mind even more.“You!” She screamed, “You bitch! What did you do?! You filled his head with lies, you’ve always hated me, you never wanted us together! What have you done!”I looked at my brother who only shook his head at me to not engage with her. As I turned away from her, heading up the steps inside she must have gotten out of Liam’s arms because all I heard next was a slapping sound. Turning around to look, Shayla was holding the side of her face, Caleb standing between us.“Caleb!” I gasped.“I only back handed her. I don’t care what her probl
Morning time came quickly and as I laid in the bed, thinking of the mess that my life has become in recent months my phone began to ring on my bedside table. I sighed, leaning over to see who it was. Dimitri. I silenced it and got out of bed, deciding to get ready for my day.At least then I’m able to say I was busy if he asks later why I didn’t answer him. I hadn’t spoken to him or even attempted to since he’d left. I pulled on a pair of jeans, a sweater and some boots that were appropriate for the snow outside.I took some medicine before storing it away in the bedside table again and leaving the room to head downstairs. I grabbed a chocolate muffin from the kitchen and began eating it as I walked out of the packhouse to the house next door that Dimitri had been staying in.Truthfully, I don’t think he truly had business at the capital, I think he just needed to get away from all the wolves around here. I had sent a message to Caleb to meet me in the driveway with a SUV but first I
I followed behind Austin, Shayla and Ryan slowly as they made their way upstairs, Caleb close behind me. We all walked into the alpha quarters and my brother walked Shayla to their shared room. Closing the door behind us, Caleb stayed there to stand guard.Austin came back out a few moments later, closing the door behind him and sighing. He walked over, wrapping me in his arms, obviously very much in need of comfort. I hugged him back and he said, “I knew you’d do whatever you necessary to find us. Ryan said you’ve done well taking care of the pack.”He stepped back, leaving his hands on my shoulders and giving me a tight-lipped smile. I knew I needed to ask the question we all needed to know though, “Austin, what happened?”He dropped his hands, going to sit on the couch, resting his elbows on his thighs. He looked defeated. “I’m not sure, one minute I was talking to Shayla about the baby, the next thing I knew the car was rolling, we’d been hit. I was barely conscious, but someone pu
Beta Zaine’s POVWalking through the woods to go meet with Azai I sighed looking at the mess he had caused in the past weeks. He hadn’t been to the packhouse since we’d returned from Cerulean. Last week the packhouse shook from the blasts of dynamite from where they were clearing out more of the rock tunnel so vehicles could pass through it.Land had already been cleared and a dirt road made, with culverts to not interrupt the natural flow of water. Zaine had driven up to that point then finished the rest of the way on foot. Walking through the tunnel, it was brighter after the expansion as more light flowed through it. Men worked as they put together the exterior block framing for a structure, the concrete had been poured a week and half back before the winter really began to set in.Azai stood over at the gazebo watching the ongoing work. Snow had begun falling a couple hours ago and it had begun to form a thin layer on the ground. “It’s about time you come back to the packhouse, do
Returning to the pack house Ryan had already loaded up three SUVs with warriors, “Luna, we’re ready to leave,” he said as I got out of the truck.I nodded, “good luck, bring my brother home.”He gave me a smile small, “I’ll do my best.”The temperature had dropped and snow had begun to fall, hopefully giving our warriors an advantage with less patrols being at the location they were headed to. I heard someone clear their throat and looked to where the sound came from to see Dimitri standing at the edge of the driveway. I walked over to him, “sorry about this morning, I’ve been under a lot of stress,” I said quietly. He nodded, “I understand. Listen, I need to go to the capital for some things. I still must pack but I’ve made some of the vampire’s kiss and put it in the fridge for you. The blood will help with your energy and perhaps your mood.”I smirked, “are you saying I’m grumpy?”“Never you, my darling,” he teased. His eyes looked up and past me and I turned to see he was looking
Hunter walked us inside to the dining area, taking me over to a private round table that looked to be reserved for him.“Luna, I’ll get you a drink,” Caleb said, and I knew he was taking advantage to be able to scope out the pack house some more. I looked around as Hunter spoke to a couple guards, it was a late breakfast time but there were a lot of young moms there with their pups and I noticed a few of them had those same green eyes as hunter, while others shared the same grey eyes.“Luna Alessia,” Hunter said, catching my focus again, “what brings you here?”I let my smile fall from my face, “Alpha Hunter, I’m sure you’re aware of the disappearance of my brother Alpha Austin and Shayla. I’m hoping you may have information to aid me in finding them.”He leaned back in his chair his smile turning into a smirk, “why would I have information about that?”“To be frank, the accident that resulted in his disappearance didn’t happen far from here. He was returning home from Dark Moon when
I woke up and looked at the clock on the bedside table, it read just before 8 am. I’d slept a little over 8 hours; despite laying down so early yesterday evening, I’d laid awake with a million thoughts running through my head. I finally decided to take the nausea medicine and eat some food before showering and finally getting some sleep. Why have you been blocking me out so much? Amara asked. It puzzled me, because I haven’t been blocking her out. “I haven’t been, I thought you were intentionally staying quiet,” I said back to her. No, something isn’t right. It shouldn’t be this difficult to talk to you. Something is trying to block me, even now. It feels like something is trying to shove me to the back of your mind. I scowled, not liking what I was hearing.I got up, getting ready for the day. One thing about Hunter is that I knew he wanted me so I would work it to my advantage. I’d gone to sleep with my hair in curlers and I did my makeup before letting my curls down. Getting dresse
It’s been two and a half weeks and there’s been no signs of my brother or Shayla. I had limited contact with Azai and Zaine, at this point it was for the best for both Azai and myself.I’d barely been sleeping and I’d been trying to stay clear of Dimitri since the morning we had sex. I hadn’t noticed it at the time but Amara had pointed out the lack of sparks between us, I didn’t know if it was different because he was a vampire or what, but the bond just wasn’t right. Something wasn’t right and we couldn’t quite place it.I hit the desk in frustration just as Ryan walked into the office, I was working out of the pack house to avoid Dimitri, the wolves weren’t comfortable around him so he stayed at the house most of the time as I stayed here, running the pack by myself, taking over the alpha and luna duties.Ryan stood silently, waiting to see what I had summoned him for, “call Hunter, schedule me a meeting with him as soon as you can, at his pack, don’t tell him a reason only that I’v
