CHAPTER 6

Allison’s pov

Get out! Adrian said staring into my eyes. He looked really angry and provoked.

“What?” I asked shocked.

He got out of the car and dragged me out, driving away. I stood there in shock wondering what had just happened.

“How dare him” I said throwing my purse at the car as he drove away

“God, can he get any rude or annoying? I don’t care if that guy got to you, but I don’t deserve this, I just said my mind! There’s something called freedom of speech, dumbass” I shouted, knowing that he couldn’t hear me

“Maybe I shouldn’t have said that to him, now how will I get home” I thought

, “Ughhh, he didn’t even let me take my damn phone” I whined, placing my hands in my palms.

“There is something called freedom of speech, but pardon my brother, he isn’t used to treating ladies well” a deep voice from behind me said as he walked past me and picked up my purse.

“I believe this is yours right,” he said handing me the purse.

“Oh no, it's that guy that pissed him off, his brother,” I thought

“Thank you,” I said shyly, tucking my hair behind my ears.

“So, you are married to my brother, if I knew, I wouldn't have approached you back then you know,” he said with hands in his pocket.

I looked at him confused “So you regret meeting me then” I replied

“Of course not, I was happy I needed a drink by the counter, if not, how would I have met the prettiest girl in the room” he said chuckling

“I Allison, it's weird we didn't ask for each other’s name,” I said smiling

“Hello Allison, I'm Delvin, nice to meet you” he replied

I brought out his hands and we shook hands. My heart skipped a beat when our hands touched.

“How could someone so sweet be Adrian’d brother” I thought

“Mind if I drop you off, these roads aren't safe anymore,” he asked

“Yeah sure” I replied and walked down the street with him

“So, you're Adrian’s brother? was he raised in the zoo”

I asked smirking

“Gosh, you are so funny. You are honestly the first girl who would say that about my brother” he said laughing

“Adrian is my stepbrother though, we weren't raised the same way, so I wouldn't know if he was raised in the zoo” he continued smiling at me

I couldn't help but smile back at him. It felt like I was normal again and my life wasn't a living hell anymore.

“So, how have you been frustrating my brother, I mean you must have said something that pissed him off,” he said

“Well, since your brother doesn't know how to talk to ladies politely, I have decided to make sure he learns it. I won't let him push me around, I mean we are not even supposed to be…” I trailed off realising I was talking too much

“Allison!, you should not talk about Evelyn running off and the deal between our parents with Adrian’s stepbrother,” I thought

“Are you okay?” Delvin asked as he stopped and pulled me back

“Yes, I just meant your brother can be frustrating,” I said biting my lips and hoping he won't ask further questions

“I know right” he said as we continued walking

“What about you? I didn't see you at our wedding” I said curiously

“Adrian and I don't have the usual big brother bond, I came back because my dad asked me to,” he said looking away

I couldn't help but notice it. He had an estranged relationship with his family.

“We are here” he said as we stood in front of a motorcycle

“You ride a bike!” I said shocked

“Yeah, you don't like it?” he asked raising an eyebrow as he got on the bike and handed me a helmet

“Of course, I do,” I said excitedly. I got on the bike and we drove off.

The ride back to Adrian’s mansion was peaceful and nice. I know I'm quite a risk-taker but I have never rode a motorbike before. I closed my eyes and I enjoyed the rest of the ride knowing that I would soon return to my nightmare.

“We are here” Delvin said as we stopped in front of the house

“Thank you, I had fun,” I said as I got off the bike and handed the helmet back to him.

“I had fun too, look I know my brother okay? He is annoying but anytime you need someone to talk to, I'm your guy” he said smirking

“You don't even have my number” I replied folding my arms

“Says who,” he said smiling and wearing his helmet back, driving off. “Good night” he shouted

“What? good night!” I shouted back.

I walked into the house thinking about our conversation and smiling.

“Hello, ma’am,” Donna said as she opened the front door.

“Hello, Donna. Thank you so much, just pretend like you didn't see me” I whispered and she nodded in response

It was already past midnight and I was sure everyone was sleeping.

I got a message from an unknown number saying “I told you I was your guy”

I instantly knew it was Delvin. “Where did he get my number from” I thought smiling as I tiptoed up the stairs

I woke up feeling better than I'd felt in days. I walked over to the window and sat on the pavement looking at the staff working on the garden. The view was stunning and my mind couldn't help but wonder about the time I spent with Delvin last night, it was the first time I smiled genuinely in days

My thoughts were interrupted by Donna who walked in concerned.

“Hello ma’am..” she said stuttering

“Donna, is everything alright?. What's wrong” I asked

“Mr Russette would like to see you downstairs” she replied

“No, I don't want to see him. I'm In a good mood today” I said smiling

“Ma’am, if you don't go. He threatened that I would lose my job” she said tearing up.

I don't know what Adrian said to her but that was the first time I'd seen her that way

“Okay, I'll go,” I said following her downstairs

I overhead Adrian speaking to someone in French on the phone as I walked into his study

“So the asshole speaks French,” I thought. He ended the call and looked into my eyes raising his eyebrow

“What? sad to see me alive?” I said folding my arms.

“Who dropped you off last night” he said coldly

“Is that all you have to say to me? you left me stranded on the roadside what if something had happened to me!” I snapped at him

“Dont raise your voice at him, Allison, who

Dropped you off?” he said calmly putting his hands in his pockets

“Oh, that's what you care about right? It's none of your business then Adrian” I said folding my arms

“Two can play this game asshole” I thought

“Is that how it is, fine then?” he said walking towards me.

“We have a basketball game to see this morning. Get dressed, we have to go in 30 minutes” he said handing me a basketball shirt and walking out of the room.

“Is that all he has to say to me? Why is he so weird this morning? I mean Didn't Donna say he almost fired her? Why the hell did he want to see me? He is so annoying” I whispered.

I walked out of the study angrily, slamming the door.

I was so annoyed. “Why did he want to see me? Donna could have brought me the shirt!” I said walking up the stairs

I bumped into someone on my way up the stairs and fell to the floor.

“Are you alright” I heard a male voice say as he stretched out his hands to help me up.

“Who the hell is this now” I thought.
