RUBY'S POV:
"Babe, you've been asleep for way too long. What are you dreaming of", a sweet voice that always rang in my subconscious called out from what seemed like the other room.
" Anything to get away from Charles. Its your turn to change him anyway", I said to myself, fearing that if I opened my eyes, I'd have to do it.
The fact that I'm mentioning a Charles made me open my eyes wide, everywhere looked so familiar. It couldn't be my one bedroom apartment. As much as I'd spent money setting it up to keep my heavy heart at bay, this was way too big. Every detail was so much more emphasized in this king sized room.
From the red flowery patterned curtains that flowed down from the roof to the floor to the ash beddings and the duvet made to look like a large dollar bill, it all seemed too familiar to me. It felt so homey. The door decorated to the t
RUBY'S POV:After roughly an hour of driving, we finally made it to his house. Of course as a movie star and what the people of Port Harcourt would call Senior man, he had to have a stunning house but he took this to the next level. It was jaw dropping. His house was in the Garden City proper and his house was even more than fit for the Governor. It was in a gated estate, I wouldn't expect anything less from him though. As we drove into his compound, I was almost at a lack of words. His house was beyond beautiful and by the way his lips lifted ever so slightly, he knew. Of course this wasn't the house he showed to anyone, it was another of his many getaway houses so the thought of getting a personal tour of the house was a definite steal."Like what you see?", he asked as he angled his head a little towards me." Love it", I said still looking around.
JAMES' POV:It had become a routine to check the CCTV footage for all the times I wasn't around my houses. After saying good night, I was about to go back to plop down onto my bed, the awkward position I'd been in during the surprise movie night, getting the best of me when my mind went back to went back to my prior engagement. Quietly scolding myself for almost forgetting to check the cameras, I turned and went to my study which I'd strategically placed at a door at the end of my closet. It wasn't that good though when you had to call meetings wherever you are and the stereotypical gang leader is meant to call the meeting in his study. Being normal didn't apply to me though, that's part of the reason I had a conference room. I mean why invite them into a room filled with novels that would make them all laugh rowdily wh

RUBY’S POV:As I finally arrived home, my sorrowful separation from James kept playing in my mind.“I don’t know when next I’ll see you but it can’t hurt to ask you to wait for me” he’d said looking down at me lovingly.“You know I could wait another 10 years” I said and what I wanted to sound as a joke became the elephant in the room.“I won’t say bye, not even goodbye because I don’t want to let go ok. So see you soon”Of course, he would take away my breath for this parting too. So I said the only thing that kept sounding in my head. “Always and forever” and we both smiled as I got into my Uber.Slowly walking into my apartment, I thought of calling my parents and I prepared for them to freak. It’s not every time you get the shock of seeing your daughter in a completely different hair colour
RUBY’S POV:Two weeks laterWe had finalized all paper work and made plans on how to move. Sadly, James had been mentioned. The letter had been delivered to James already and the court meeting was today.I had picked out one of my many official wears, some slacks and a shirt along with a black blazer. Giving one last look at myself through the mirror, I agreed with my reflection that I looked good enough for a quickie, not like that’s what I expected. Turning around to leave, I looked at myself once more and agreed with my reflection that I had put on weight since I got home. Of course I would blame it on the fact that I ate away my anxiety, not that it worked though but a girl has to hope.Getting up to leave, I immediately felt a bit queasy when I walked too fast towards my bag that I’d left in the parlour. Rushing to my bag a bit faster, I unzipped it and grabbed at the packet of veggie crackers I’d gotten so used
Ruby’s POV:ONE YEAR LATERThe last year has by far been one of the most eventful times for me. James actually went through with his rehabilitation program and I spent every day with him. It turns out he was overdosing on sleeping medicines and it almost became a health issue as his physical tolerance for the drug increased and he craved it more.Dealing with all the news was really stressful. I nearly had a miscarriage when I realized he lost sleep when I had to leave. He arranged for his private jet to move all his things from his house in Port Harcourt over to Nevada. We’d decided on a house there and we got one in a quiet area. He had to move money anonymously to my account since he couldn’t make the purchase himself. I had a feeling his father was monitoring his accounts. I didn’t say anything though. My parents and my new baby brother were ecstatic that I finally agreed to move closer. They were more ecstatic to find out I wa
Lost myself trying to find you- King TonyRuby's POV:Is there ever anything like an average day? If there is then I can't think of a day in my life that was one. Although this day started out quite average, I took a shower and for once I didn't have to run out of the bathroom like a dog on narcotics because I forgot my towel in my room and I couldn't risk flashing anyone the goods. It was always a thing of mine to stand at the balcony and get some fresh air to you know, clear my mind a bit. But today, I happened to look down the balcony and I don't think I've ever been so jumped before. I just had to run back into the sitting room."Code red babe, code red", I yelled to Brylee." What's up Rubs?" She answered, stunned."Some guys on black face caps are in their way up the building""What do you mean?""I mean..." I starte

RUBY'S POV:What the....?", the voice I knew too well said, holding back a curse.Oh, no, no, no. This can't be happening. Part of me knew I needed closure from the spectacular relationship I'd had with the one and only James Llock, who was this irritated at being ran into."I'm so sorry. I wasn't looking. I dunno something had flown into my eye and I needed to get water or something. I hope I didn't stain your shirt. Oh my God, you're not going to throw me off the ship right. I can't lose my job on the ship...", I rambled off.I'd already began questioning myself. Why would I rant out like I was the real Jade Freeman? To me, it goes a bit farther than not wanting my head served for a late night snack. I don't know why I felt the need for this gorgeous specimen who I'm trying to bring to book, to accept me?He wasn't meant to be on board but I had my suspicions about meeti
