Lost myself trying to find you- King Tony

Ruby's POV:

Is there ever anything like an average day? If there is then I can't think of a day in my life that was one. Although this day started out quite average, I took a shower and for once I didn't have to run out of the bathroom like a dog on narcotics because I forgot my towel in my room and I couldn't risk flashing anyone the goods.

It was always a thing of mine to stand at the balcony and get some fresh air to you know, clear my mind a bit. But today, I happened to look down the balcony and I don't think I've ever been so jumped before. I just had to run back into the sitting room.

"Code red babe, code red", I yelled to Brylee.

" What's up Rubs?" She answered, stunned.

"Some guys on black face caps are in their way up the building"

"What do you mean?"

"I mean..." I started to reply just as a knock came to the door.

"Should we get it?" Brylee whispered.

"I dunno. What if they're kidnappers or rapists or both", I said looking for a place to hide.

" Babe, its me. Come get the door", a voice said from the other side of the door.

"Oh" she said and ran to unlock the door, with a bit of a hop in her step.

The three guys walked in perfect sync you'd think they rehearsed it. I was really looking forward to asking why they'd wanted me to see Christ this early. As they took off their face caps, I could only recognize Micah and Simon. Micah was my cousin Brylee's boyfriend and Simon was a friend of his I'd seen around a lot, I couldn't put a name to the third one and he put the HANDSOME in handsome, dammit. He walked over to the couch adjacent to mine and plopped down.

I didn't want to give off a bad vibe so I continued tapping away on my phone as I had been doing before they scared the shit out of me, but not after giving him a good once over.

This boy had it all. He had the really harmless face that God so happened to gift the really bad ones with and those eyes that looked black from afar but are really the most enticing shade of mahogany brown there is and that perfect nose, at least you could tell he didn't get into fights that ruined his face. I don't know why I had to point out his nose though. Last but not the least his hair, that perfectly short and wavy hair that would make you want to do nothing but run your hands through them endlessly.

"James, Oh my gosh! I can't believe you're here. Its been so long" Brylee yelled as they did a special handshake which of course I never knew existed but I am so stealing it soon.

"I'm here now baby" He replied, laughing.

Not that I'm socially awkward but I'm kind of an intro-extrovert if that makes sense. I mean everyone says first impressions matter but when it comes to me, its only 50% true because at first meetings I'm all one words and shy smiles but when you get to know me, you have to love me. I believe in reciprocation so I measure the vibe I give off with the vibe you give me. So when he suddenly looked at me and smiled, I was all swooning but I didn't want to smile back.

"Hey, I haven't seen you around here before. What's up?", He asked me.

"I'm good you ", I replied, shrugging.

"So does the pretty face have a name?", He said winking.

He just had to give off the player vibe.

" Its Ruby", I said.

"Of course it is", He said and smiled again.

" Thanks", I said, blushing involuntarily.

Come to think of it, do we ever plan to blush. Even actors have to actually be flattered to blush, I mean I think so. You can't lie to me that I look good in a cloth that rivals with a baby's barf and I'd blush. Note to my future husband, in your vow, if I hear something like even if I wore a potato sack, I'd still be the finest in the room. I swear, I'd leave on the altar, no cap.

"Well do you want to know mine?", He said smirking.

" Uhh sure", I said confused because I could swear Brylee just called him by his name but I played along.

"Are you willing to do whatever it takes", He said in the Big Brother show's voice.

" No Big Brother ", I said laughing.

Big Brother is a popular reality show airing in some African countries like Nigeria, where I stay in. Right now, the edition that just began about a month ago is the " pepper dem" edition and I wasn't such an avid fan but like others I was a die hard Mercy fan because Tacha was basically all attitude. So if you refer to me as a Titan, I will go apeshit on you, no doubt.

"Then you can't know it", He said pouting. Okay that's adorable.

" But I already do", I said finally smiling back.

"What?", he said smirking as if egging me on.

" James", I said, giving him the 'I told you so' expression.

"Damn, how'd you know that?"

"If you don't count the fact that Bry basically called you James like 10 minutes ago, the I guessed it for sure. I mean your face totally screams James", I said and laughed.

Like I said earlier, I liked him already. If he didn't look good when I first saw him then when he laughed one word: DAMN.

He turned to Brylee and began telling her about a guy named Kennedy and from what I picked up, he was his best friend. Bry being one of the most homely person I know immediately told him to call him and have him come over.

Thirty minutes later, Kennedy got to the house. You know the saying " Birds of a feather flock together" , its so true. I mean 80% true when you count the fact that there's always going to be one that doesn't compliment the group. All I'm trying to say is Kennedy could make Fancy Nancy go "Oh LaLa".

Kennedy is cute and all but compares to James, he doesn't measure up. He didn't really keep his hair much and he had this quiet guy outlook, from his fitted jeans and straight dress shirt, I could tell.

It turns out James is basically a born dance, Ruby likey. Bry and I love to sit around playing music on the speakers so the moment a danceable song comes on, his body doesn't stop vibrating till he gets up and moves.

" Ruby, may I have this dance, my lady?", he said, smiling.

"You may not. I can't dance to save my life", I said and laughed.

" Come on, show me what you got baby"

"I got nothing"

His adorable begging continued for the rest of the hour but I won't give in even if he wept. I consider myself a good enough dancer but I wasn't ready to show him all the goods on the first meeting.

Later in the evening right before my aunt returned from work, we said our good nights and they left.
