Chapter 159: Run

I groaned awake, feeling sticks poking my back. A wet leaf clung to my cheek, and I swatted it off quickly. Loose, dry sand covered my naked legs as I slowly rose, trying to comprehend where I was.

I blinked several times.

I was still in my black, silky top that barely covered my thighs. I wasn't wearing any underwear, and cold air made my nipples harden.

Surrounded by trees, the pitch-black midnight sky offered no light, not even from the moon. Placing my bare feet on the soil, I frowned.

What the fuck? Where was I? How did I get here?

Nothing surfaced when I tried to remember what could've happened. Sam had been trying to scare me for hours until I nearly set fire to the willow tree. Finally relenting, he let me rest for the first time in over a week. I had a shower, changed into this top, and fell asleep in Sam's bed.

Had someone gotten in?

Concentrating, I sharpened my vision and shook off the sleep. It was cold, but I didn't mind as I warmed my own skin.
