Chapter 155: A little miracle

I tried to run as fast as I could, but my legs ached from the torment Sam had put me through. My body burned and protested, but I pushed through the pain.

It was too soon.

"My King! Please! No one is allowed in!" A guard wailed behind us.

Sam was right behind me, fighting off any demons who tried to stop us.

"Try to come closer, and see what happens." Sam snarled over his shoulder to the servant. The guard slowed his run, a panicked look on his face. He had a knife in his hand, an automatic reaction to our sudden arrival, but his hand faltered upon hearing Sam's snarl.

He stopped running altogether, a frightened look on his face.

"This is easier than I thought it would be." Sam said from behind me.

I resisted the urge to roll my eyes.

Since we had arrived, every guard had come to attack us. Sam had fought them off all alone, letting me run ahead of him, ensuring I would get here as soon as I could. He had fought off every demon that stood in my way.
