Klaus POV.
I clenched my fists, struggling to contain the rage that threatened to consume me as I stared at the mansion of the one man who destroyed my life, killing in cold blood. The werewolves should have had an upper hand, but in order to maintain peace my father accepted the kind gestures of fruits they gave which was poisoned with wolfsbane.
We've been at war for decades, but I think it was time peace reigned. Revenge was not always the option, but to say the least, I have had my fair share of revenge on some of his men who trespassed into my territory.
My instincts screamed at me to rip his heart out, to avenge my loved ones' deaths. But I knew that would only bring an abrupt end to whatever peace we were trying to arrive at today. And I am not putting my pack in danger.
As the Alpha, I had to maintain control, no matter how much it killed me. I turned to my followers, my voice firm and calm.
"Remember, we're here for a treaty. Let's keep our cool and stay alert. We don't know what they're capable of."
Nicholas, my brother, nodded in agreement, his eyes scanning the surroundings before giving me a nod. He has always had the sharper sense of smell. I had too but I had my eyes roaming around.
A maid greeted us, her smile nervous and her hand trembled. It was expected. My Alpha aura was on full leash, causing fear on both humans and werewolves alike.
"Welcome, Alpha Klaus. The Mayor is waiting for you."
I nodded,
"Lead the way." I said coldly.
As we walked, I couldn't shake off the feeling of unease. Something didn't feel right. Nathaniel should be the one leading us in, that was disrespect and a dash on our ego but we swallowed our anger.
Nicholas whispered in my ear, "Klaus, I don't like this. Something's off."
"I know. Just keep cool and don't act rashly. Once you detect anything strange let me know first, okay?" I said in a low voice. I can't risk the maid eavesdropping on my conversation.
Nicholas stared at me worriedly. "Fine. But I am worried about you. This might be a trap for you, not even us."
"I am an Alpha, Nicholas. I am not afraid of some humans with muscles. We are here to get Cole out of here and get on some agreeable terms. End of discussion. Now keep your eyes on alert."
My assurance to Cole wasn't enough. I quickly texted Sabine, the leader of the coven of witches we had in our pack asking for her telling. The witches have been of great help to us. Where our strength couldn't prevail, magic does and strength and magic were two attributes for a powerful kingdom.
Her response sent a chill down my spine. "Klaus, there's a high possibility of an attack. Be cautious."
My grip on my phone tightened, my mind racing with worst-case scenarios. I glanced at Nicholas, and he knew exactly what I was thinking.
"Be alert." I mind linked everyone of my men as we walked into a large room with white ceiling and coloured tiles.
Tables and chairs sat facing each other, while a set of other tables sat along the wall.
A guard dressed in black overalls motioned towards the table in the center. "Sit. The food would be served and the Mayor would see you soon."
I gritted my teeth, a growl leaving my lips. "How dare you give me orders ?"
I was on my feet, anger and rage pouring off me in torrents. Fear flashed through his eyes, but he soon recomposed himself, stepping closer with an equal glare.
"Go ahead and do what you werewolves do, kill!" He opened his arms wide with a smirk, and lord I wanted to rip his head off from his body. But his next words kept me in control. "And that wolf we caught, what is his name again, Cole or Cal? Whatever it is would surely die."
Cole was my cousin. His mate Freya and family profusely begged me to get him back and I am not leaving here till I do. I had men stationed outside sniffing him out which they have successfully done. If we don't get him through peace and normalcy then we resort to violence.
"Klaus." Nicholas shook his head. I sat with a huff , calming myself with deep breaths.
The door opened, ushering in the scent of food. My men knew better than to salivate, instead of the scent for any trace of poison or wolfsbane.
But amidst that was something stronger. Something that had my wolf turning and stirring from its sleep. A scent that was out of the world. I inhaled deeply. I couldn't get enough of this.
I was on my feet, walking towards the direction of the scent. The hall room was silent and I guessed everyone was watching me but I didn't care, all I cared was getting to the origin of this scent
'Slow down Klaus. It might be poison for all we know.' My wolf purred. I knew he was enjoying and salivating at the scent as much as I did.
'it isn't. I know poison when I see one. And even if it is, I am a hybrid. I can get it off in seconds.'
My wolf went silent. I took further steps but Nicholas grabbed my head with a firm shake of his head.
'Can you smell that?' I asked through mindlink.
'the food yes. But if you don't sit down they might think we want to fight.' he motioned with his chin to the guards eyeing me suspiciously.
'`whatever.` I grumbled back and walked back to my seat. The scent was getting stronger and then I saw the most beautiful and alluring girl I have ever seen. Her dark raven hair cascaded down her back in waves, a smile on her face that brought out her lips more.
Her tight fitting black dress clinged to her body like a second skin and hell she looked damn hot. My dick stirred in my pants by just staring at her.
The scent got stronger as she drew near and my Killian purred out the words I have wished to hear for a very long time.
"Mate.”
Davina Pov.I groaned, leaning against the smooth wall of the hallway that led to the hall room where the peace treaty was taking place. Deep breaths Davina. I chide myself inwardly."Miss Davina, the Mayor, ordered us to take the meal right away." One of the maids I led reminded me. I brought my attention back to reality, staring at the lines of maids that held trays of food. All for a peace treaty. It was just 'too much'. But who was I to go against my father's order?"Let's go. Follow me directly. We can't afford to make mistakes." They all nodded and moved. The moment I entered the ballroom I was met with the most alluring green eyes I have seen in my entire life. The pair of eyes studied my movements right from the moment I walked in. My mouth went dry. I lost the ability to speak as the intensity of his stare was just too suffocating, but it felt good.Or maybe he stared at me because I was clumsy and wasn't doing my hostess duty room. His dark gaze became so intense that I co
Klaus POV.Watching my mate serve the meals graciously was a torment that had me squirming uncomfortably on my chair. How ironic fate can be, pairing with someone so alluring and perfect. Her nervousness was quite obvious but it only made her more different than the other humans present, who stared at us with nothing but disdain.I wondered why she served us politely, with a beautiful smile plastered on her perfect face. Didn't her psycho father train her to hate me like us? Men who kill to get what they want?In all honesty, I don't give a damn about her upbringing, I only care about taking what is mine. Deep down, I was certain it would be a little bit difficult. As humans, they don't understand the ferocious need of our wolves in claiming our mate.Staring at her thick hips that were revealed beneath the short skirt that graced her fine figure, I felt my dick twitch on my pants. An overwhelming need to take her to my bed and f**k her so hard that my name would grace those plump lip
Klaus POV.“I'm sorry but I can't let you through.” Another guard said. “We can't let dogs like you run free here.” If they called us dogs one more time, I'll have their heads off their bloody necks and hang them on the spear they held.A scent that has become so familiar waffled through me, calming my anger. She walked into the hall with a dozen women trailing after her.“You are not supposed to be here Davina. Your father doesn't want us near these dogs.” The older woman beside her said to Davina.I watched Davina suck in a breath and turned to her angrily. “How can you all be so heartless? My father's commands already show that he wants peace. As his daughter, I-”Her words got stuck in her throat and I watched her face pale, a gunshot pierced through air and I turned sharply. Nicholas held a gun to the head of the guards that stopped us from getting out.A smirk curled on my lips. The women screeched and sped out of the hall, but she remained still. Her eyes widened in shock.“Al
Davina Pov.I was still in a state of shock, my whole body resisting the command I gave it. Klaus, the supposedly Alpha of the werewolves, was drawn to me? A pathetic human lady? His gaze ignited sparks through my body. My body reacted in accord to his mere eyes roaming and exploring different parts of my body.My eyes grew wide as I stared at the mansion-like building in front of me. How could a mansion housing werewolves be so grand ? I expected houses, dirt and smoke everywhere with falling buildings.I never expected it to be so grand."We are here." His deep velvety voice pulled me out of my thoughts. I finally understood what was going on here. I have been captured by the supposed man who aroused me in ways I couldn't speak. "Are you going to get down or wait for me to carry you down?" Another sharp voice that belonged to a blonde haired with faintly similar characteristics with Klaus told me harshly."Watch your tone, Nicholas." Klaus growled, like a real actual growl that had
Klaus.Control. I fought so hard to keep myself under check as her scent tempted me. She was under my roof and my care and burying myself deep into her till we became one was more of a priority than the meeting I was in now.Nicholas was currently telling my most trusted men all that transpired in the morning. From his point of view, Davina was the key culprit. He found every means to demean and objectify her, and I won't have any of that."That's enough." I said firmly, all attention pouring on me. "We should be focused on how to get Cole out of their grasp. We have his daughter, I believe Nathaniel would be reasonable." "And are you skipping the fact you are giving her preferential treatment?" Nicholas pressed on intentionally. "Davina is supposed to be tortured, evidence of her pain would be sent to her father and I bet we would get Cole out of there.""I won't let you torture my mate." Gasps and murmurs filled the room. It escaped my mind that no one was aware Davina was my mate
Davina Pov.Honestly, I never thought I'd be at ease in Klaus pack. Though I haven't met everyone here, Rose has been exceptionally kind and good to me, along with Carson.Except Lucas. He hated me and he made no effort to hide it. Being in the enemies pack, I wasn't expected to be loved and act like I was Klaus' bride even though he made it seem so.The door to the room I stayed pushed open, revealing a grumpy Lucas.“Get up, the Alpha wants to see you.” He said monotonously. My heart skipped as I sat up on the bed, “Why?”“I am not here to answer your question.” He replied maliciously. “It's either you get up willingly or I force you.” I didn't like the latter. Lucas doesn't look like someone who jokes with things like this. If he says he's gonna force me, hell he'll do it. I got willingly and let him lead the way.He led me to an open room. Nicholas fixed an angry gaze at me the moment I walked in and Klaus looked at me with so much desire that I almost stumbled on my feet.“Get y
Davina Pov.I have never been kissed in such manner, he pulled me against his warm and hard body structure. My ice cold blood was warmed by him, and a euphoric swirl erupted from the bottom of my abdomen traveling to the mound between my legs.“Mine.” He growled again, passion slipping out from his tone.I tugged on his collar for stamina as I kissed back, his mouth took control. I was not a werewolf, but the heat and flames burning between us was so enthralling. I have never felt this with any of my exes.I felt empty the moment he pulled away, his hooded gaze filled with desire. He took hold of my hand, leading me out of the hall room. His hands were firmly on my lower back, drawing circles with his index. When we reached the door of the room I stayed, he dragged in and shut it loudly. He pulled me again for another kiss, like he has always wanted to do. “Klaus, I can't-”“Oh yes you can mate.” He growled against my lips, swallowing all my uncertainties. “Let me help you get rid of
Davina Pov.I haven't seen Klaus for days after he stormed out of my room. His anger and broken exterior made my heart squeeze with guilt. I was defending a man who was a cold blooded killer with the tag name of ‘my father’.I never knew he killed Klaus’ parents, the mayors of Riverdale just to become the next mayor. It all made sense now, from his hatred against the wolves to the anger Klaus bore for him.“I wonder why the Alpha is keeping her here.” I heard voices outside my door, the moment I walked out to look for Klaus.“This is the first time I have seen Alpha Klaus so vulnerable.” A voice I recognize as Lucas's told his partner.“If not for my respect for the Alpha, I would have killed her with my bare hands.” A chill ran through my spine making my body numb, my face heated so much that my eyes watered. The sign of the door opening had me sprinting to the window , hiding my tears as I stared at the blank sky.“Here you go, princess.” Lucas said with disdain. I knew he hated me
