Four

Klaus POV.

Watching my mate serve the meals graciously was a torment that had me squirming uncomfortably on my chair.

How ironic fate can be, pairing with someone so alluring and perfect. Her nervousness was quite obvious but it only made her more different than the other humans present, who stared at us with nothing but disdain.

I wondered why she served us politely, with a beautiful smile plastered on her perfect face. Didn't her psycho father train her to hate me like us? Men who kill to get what they want?

In all honesty, I don't give a damn about her upbringing, I only care about taking what is mine. Deep down, I was certain it would be a little bit difficult. As humans, they don't understand the ferocious need of our wolves in claiming our mate.

Staring at her thick hips that were revealed beneath the short skirt that graced her fine figure, I felt my dick twitch on my pants.

An overwhelming need to take her to my bed and f**k her so hard that my name would grace those plump lips of hers. My canines marking her nape, and my hand roaming down the length of her body.

As if she felt my state, she kept turning in my direction.

I smirked. The thought of having my mate long for my approval gave me a hard on.

I pulled my mind back to the issue at hand, getting Cole out of this place. It certainly won't be my last time meeting her, I had my ways.

When she served me, I could only smell her. Not the taste of the salivating meal she placed on my table. It was a struggle to keep myself from touching her until she walked out of the hall room.

Like the snap of a switch my mood changed. Something was wrong. I glanced at my men who waited for my orders. I said nothing more than staring hard.

“Somethings wrong with the meal.” Nicholas said, calling all out attention. He pointed to the meal with his chin, his expression was furious. “Smell it.”

“This isn't a time for jokes, Nic. If something was wrong you could have told me first.” I said sternly.

He scoffed. “If you weren't so busy ogling our enemy's daughter, maybe you'd have noticed the food she served is poisoned.”

The hell?! An angry growl escaped my lips, I brought the meal closer to my nose inhaling it. My eyes began to water at the slight scent of wolfsbane.

Anger surged through me. How dare these filthy humans treat us like trash because they have one of us captive?

“Don't take a single bite out of what is in front of you.” I ordered, and my men instantly obeyed.

The hall was empty, on the outside the high white walls looked peaceful. The guards that were here are all gone, and I knew something fishy was going on.

The hall was unusually silent, my men were all waiting on my command. I kept my anger in check, as Alpha my subject is subject to whatever emotion I was feeling. I couldn't risk them getting filled with the dark burning anger that surged through my veins.

“What do we do?” Nicholas asked impatiently. “We can't sit here and do nothing, who knows they might bomb this place up”

“They would do no such thing.” I responded, trying to sound confident.

“What the hell are you thinking?!” Nicholas sprung up. “Are you reluctant because your mate served your poisoned food ?”

I froze on my seat, balling my palms into a fist. I faced him squarely when I got on my feet

“She didn't serve us the food, I can assure that. And she isn't my mate.” I said.

“Tell that to yourself, the approval on your eyes is clear as crystal. I am your brother, I share a part of your emotions.”

I sighed, knowing he won't drop the matter. But I had no time to argue with him, I needed to think of a plan to get my men out of here, and that includes Cole.

The guards returned to the entrance of the hall, I could get they expected us to be poisoned by now.

It was obviously poison to kill. Wolfsbane is not candy and serums to wolves, it is the most deadly threat to our kind. I had to get every single one of my men unscathed, because right now every idea of peace was long discarded.

“You are going to have a running stomach, and you'd need to go to the restroom. Take three others with you,” I commanded Nicholas.

I knew it wasn't a safe plan at the moment, but it was my only way of having men on the outside and inside of this damn mansion.

“Ouch! What the hell is in this food?!” Nicholas got up, his face twisting in fake pain as his whole body shook.

“I have no idea, but all I need now is to use the bathroom.” Samantha, a female warrior who followed us, joined the play.

They both walked to the door, four extra men trailing behind them. The guards made an x barrier with their spears, a frown on their faces.

“I'm sorry, but I can't let you out. The Mayor orders you stay out till he's ready for negotiations.” One of them said,

Rising to my feet, I strode to the door and the rest of my men trailing behind me. My anger was at its highest peak and my wolf threatened to take control.

“Are you humans so heartless? Can't you see he is having a running stomach and needs a relief ?” I yelled angrily.

They shivered in fright, their resolve to keep us locked contemplating.

My canines grew longer as I felt Kil take over.

“I'll say this for the last time. Get out of the way and let my men through.”
