I didn't understand why Chase was eyeballing me as if I were some juicy stake that he hadn't eaten in decades.

I shifted relentlessly beneath his piercing gaze. It was so fucking uncomfortable. Hoping to change the topic, I decided to pop the question that had been gnawing at my mind ever since Reese randomly showed up at my house, declaring Chase as his brother.

Plus, the hatred that simmered between them—I didn't quite get it. Why would brothers hate themselves so much? And why was Chase banished from the pack? What could have transpired between them to put them at loggerheads?
