CHAPTER 6- HER ROOM

We, together with the students at the highest ranking go together at Kate's room at the 12th floor we're there's no students around cause it's almost time for the next class. We're the students at the highest ranking. We can ditch classes, we can go for the cutting classes cause we can do whatever we want to do. But there's only one thing we need to keep in our minds. During the examination day, we should pass the exams and be in the highest ranking again, or else everything that we got for now will be gone. Every examination, I should be staying at the top 1 in the highest ranking. We're exactly here in front of the door of Kate's room. There's a caution in here so no one can enter inside. But we're stubborn to think that we need to be in here, so we can get more information, more clearly information about her death. It's a big deal for us to solve this. Especially myself, cause this was assigned to me.

"Damn, can we not go inside?" Amari asked us. Starting to get scared for what we saw by now.

"I already watched this in the horror movie. Then after we open the door, there's a white lady inside waiting for us to come in." Green said, trying to scare us but he won't scare us.

"Stop telling fiction stories, would you?" Ivan hissed as Wave opened the door and the darkness inside of the room welcomed us. There's a coldness inside that I couldn't really imagine. I'm starting to get nervous, but someone holds my hands that tight. It's Wave, looking at me and reading what's on my mind. 

"It's okay, I will take care of you babe." He said and we entered the room together. We're looking for all of her things in this room. Amari turned on the light. We can clearly see around her room.

"She's really a simple girl." Leonard said while looking at Kate's stuff in her cabinet. 

"Close the door, so no one can see us here." Wave said. Green closes the door.

"Look at her stuff, it's just a very important thing that she really needs in her everyday life. She didn't even have lipstick in here, make-up, or beauty products. It's just cologne, and powder." Leonard added.

"What do you expect from her, Leonard? You didn't hear the rumors about her? She came from a poor family. Her mom is sick, when she left her home alone and moved in here. She's here to study hard." Rigel sounds so serious in his husky voice while opening the drawers nearby.

"Fuck? I didn't hear about it." 

"Everyone in this University know's about it. Damn you, man. You're such an asshole and womanizer." Davon said and look around. I keep looking on the mirror where there's a picture of her and her mom. I guess she really loves her mom that much. She's hugging her like there is no tomorrow for it.

"Look at her notes. Maybe she wrote a letter before her death happened." Loony said and started to open her bags. He put all of her notes above Kate's bed and there's a note. 

"What is this?" 

Loony open the fold of yellow paper.

"Read that loudly, man." Ivan said. We're all looking at Loony as he started to read out loud the written word in the letter.

"I've been dreaming this journey since when I was a kid. I never thought that I will never been in here, still dreaming until the rest of my life cause I'm just a poor. But thanks to God, he heard my daily prayers. I will study hard, make it in the highest ranking so mom would be proud of me and I will support her while she's alive. I know it's hard for me to adjust myself here, cause I'm totally different from the other students. I don't have enough money to support my daily needs, but as long as I'm studying and eating 2 times a day, it's okay. I will graduate soon, I swear." I can't stop thinking about her last will that she wrote in that piece of paper. I knew it. It's her dream to be in her. But the thing is, the case becomes more unexplainable because of what she wrote in that paper.

"What do you think as of now, guys?" Amari asked. Looking in each and every one of us.

"It's not suicidal, I see."

"No, it's suicidal. Maybe she wrote this before her death." Loony is guessing.

"Look at the mark of the pen. That was written months ago, I guess. Look at that clearly. Maybe she wrote that when it's her first day here." I said and took the paper away from Loony. They are all looking at the mark of the pen that looks likely written weeks ago.

"Damn, this is not easy to find out! I must prefer solving problems and equations than to find out this case. It is really a hard thing. Damn it, really damn it." Davon hissed and took a deep breath.

"Keep calm, mother fucker. We will find out what happened. Always remember that the truth is always with us. No matter how hard it is to find this case for the first time, there will be a time that we will find out the truth. No secrets can keep forever. As long as we keep looking at it." Green said in a serious matter.

"Are you kidding us, Green? I never heard those words coming from you. You sounded so weird this time." Amari laughed but he's the only one laughing on what he had said.

"No, I'm being serious here."

"Shut the fuck up, you too."

"Wait, shut your mouth. I think someone is coming..." Rigel said and we all remain silent for the moment that we're all hearing the footsteps of someone coming on this way.

"Turn off the lights!" Wave hissed and Ivan turned off the lights immediately.

"Who is that?" I whispered to Wave.

"Shhh, don't speak." Wave said. It becomes more dim around. 

"What about the body of Kate? Are we able to give it to her family?" I think that's one of an admin in this University does. I saw Byron slowly locking the doors without making any noise, so they will not notice that we're here. We're escaping inside Kate's room.

"No, not until the highest ranking students solve her death case. I trust their IQ's, specially Elyrhia Red Thomas." The man said. Wave clenched his jaws, and I heard that cause I'm closer to him.

"Are they all abusing your IQ?" Rigel asked besides me. He's whispering but we all heard that, except that Admin's outside.

"I don't know, don't ask."

"So, where is her body?" The girl's voice asked outside.

"I can't tell you, sorry. Maybe we should open her room and look for her stuff." Then we heard the man trying opening the door, but it's locked. Byron locked it earlier.

"I guess it's locked. The Director suggest to lock it, so no one can enter inside. Specially the highest ranking students, most of all, Red." That was the second time that they mentioned my name. Why it is always me?

"Why?"

"They are challenging her if she's able to solve the case just for a week of a month, as far as I know." 

"Let's go, I have something to do." We heard that they were walking out, until we didn't hear footsteps anymore. Ivan turned the lights on again.

"They are keeping Kate's body?" Loony asked.

"You heard the truth, Loony. Stop asking."

"No, it's not like that. Why are they keeping her body?"

"But the main contribution of Aristotle is..." I can't find myself inside of this room listening to our professor discussing a new lesson for today. I couldn't find myself anywhere, I was busy thinking about Kate's death case. 

"Hey, what's the matter?" Byron tapped my shoulder that brought back my mind in here.

"Uhm, nothing." I said and looked at him.

"You sure? Stop thinking about the case. It's not the right time for you to think about it. Don't force yourself too much. It will kill you nor made you insane." He said. Everyone besides us didn't matter at all since they are not able to talk to us, while we're talking to each other. That's one of the rules. Don't talk to one of the highest ranking student's while they are talking to each other. Respect them, like how they respect your presence. Even the professor's in here didn't mind us, cause I guess they know what we're talking about. And they think that we're talking academically, not unnecessary things. If you belong to the highest ranking, they think of you like a god or goddesses. And it's not fair, I think.

"I can't control my mind, Byron. It's what my mind thinks, not mine."

"But try not to think about it. Focus on the lesson." I nodded for what he had said. Maybe he's right, but how? 

After the lecture is the break time for almost one hour. The tables for the students in the highest ranking are separated from the other ordinary students, that's why I'm not able to be with Leila and Oly. But they'll understand me and my situation. They respect me as their friend.

"We're going to buy some snacks later at the pure golds. Wanna go with us?" Leila invited me to go with them. I can't say no to them, it's the only quality time to be with them again.

"Sure, what time?"

"6pm. We should wait for you at the lobby later?" Oly asked. I nodded at him.

"Okay, I have to go. See you." I left the both of them, and saw Wave and his friends waiting for me outside of our classroom. That is his daily routine. Fetching me at the room, and be with me before entering the room before my first class starts.

"You sure? Will we be having training later?" Davon asked. Training for what?

"Training?" I asked and they looked at me.

"Yes baby, there will be a basketball tournament next week. And we're the representative's of Calvorie University." Wave explained.

"I didn't know about it. So, that's why you will be having training later?" I look at each one of them.

"Yes, baby. Absolutely." I nodded.

"Let's go, I'm hungry." Amari said and started to walk out. But someone made him stop right away. It's Rigel, from the Business Administration room coming in our way. He's hands are in his pockets, walking like a cool kid while straightly looking at me. 

"Can I join you guys?" He asked, still looking at me. Wave wrapped his arms around my waist.

"Y-yes, sure. No problem."

"We will be having training later for the next week's tournament, don't be late. Let's go baby." Wave said and grabbed my waist with him. I didn't know what's wrong with him, why Wave is acting so strange even if Rigel is around. He might be thinking that Rigel is starting to like me even though he's not. And I'm not going to think that I might be cheating on him because I love him so damn much. It's only him at the end of the day.

"Yes, I know Aziwave. Thank you for the reminder." Rigel shouted cause we're too far way from them. 

He took my orders and food that I didn't ask him to bring with me. He's feeding me a lot, but it's okay. That is his favorite thing to do while he's with me.

"You want pizza?" He asked while putting the burger on my plate.

"No, that's too much." I smiled at him. I saw his friends coming with us, in our way. Amari and Green sitting besides him.

"How about us dude? Take our orders please." Green said while using his puppy eyes. He looked so cute in that way, and I can't stop myself laughing at him.

"I will take your order but today is your last day in this world." Wave said that made me laugh more. He took a glance at me. I stopped laughing, biting my lips so I can control my laughter.

"What's funny, Elyrhia?" Damn, he's mad. If he calls me in my first name, he's mad.

"I'm laughing at Green, not to you." I said. But Wave rolled his eyes and continued putting the food on my plate.

"Eat up, we will continue solving the case." 

I do what he says. I remain silent for a moment as they are talking about their plans for the next week's tournament that I didn't belong cause I'm a girl. Loony and Ivan are really good at coaching, but Wave is the most good one. He really even knows the techniques and maybe he can read the mind of someone and their plans so he can easily tell his team about their plans.

"I guess there's a lot of girls there. Can we fuck them, after the game?" Ivan laughed but Wave looked at him with a death threat look.

"Damn, I was just joking. I know you're not a womanizer like us. But we're totally different from you man. We're not loyal, just like you." Loony said and leaned back in his chair.

"What the fuck, dude? I'm loyal. You're the only one who is not." Green disagreed with what Loony said. But they are really womanizers. Wave is not the only one who is not.

"You sure? How about Mikhaella? Nimpha? Aisha? Veronica?" 

"Shut the fuck up you idiot. Eat up, I will kill you man!" Green hissed.

"Can you just stop arguing? Let's stick to the plane. Wave is being serious here, so please you two..." Amari said and looked at the Wave that is staring at me all the time. He really look so in love with me, even though we're together for a long time ago. Is he not tired of loving me? Or maybe is he not going to choose another girl just to replace me?

"I'm not going to choose another girl, or find someone else. You are enough for me until the rest of my life. Stop thinking about those things." Wave said. Fuck, I almost forgot that he can read someone's mind.

"Sorry about that, I love you." 

"I love you more, and I love you everyday." 

"Can you just please stop? Or should we go now? So you can have a quality time?" Ivan asked and stood up.

"Sit or kill?" 

"Of course, sit. Who said I'm leaving?" He chuckled and looked at me.
