CHAPTER THIRTY NINE
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Aurora was surprised when she saw the person waiting for her on the opposite side of the room.From the peripheral of her vision, Aurora saw the warder leaving. Her eyes never wavered from John.She had thought the likely person to visit her would be Georgina, at least to gloat about her victory if not anything else."How is Linnet doing? What about Ryan? has h...he been fine? Did he recover yet?" Aurora spoke weakly. She thought if she only had some minutes, she would at least try to get the answers to the questions that had been disturbing her mind from the very first day she had been imprisoned.
John didn't respond for the next few seconds, and Aurora suddenly grew doubtful. Did something happen to Linnet and Ryan? Or maybe John thought she was guilty of what had happened and that was why he wasn't replying?"Do you also think that I was the person who attacked Linnet?"
Instead of ansCHAPTER FORTY~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Tremont stepped out of the doctor's office, his face schooled in a hard mask. It would only require a glance for the people around to tell that something was amiss. "Tremont, what's wrong? What did the doctor say, is she going to get better soon?" Georgina spoke softly, as opposed to the panic and resentment in her heart. She couldn't believe that the old witch had survived the fall! She thought that she had successfully gotten rid of her for good. For the past few days, she had lacked the ability to sleep or think about anything, she wondered if Linnet would miraculously get better and would expose the truth to Tremont. Tremont inhaled sharply, the doctor's words from a few minutes ago echoing in his mind. "Tremont, please speak to me, I'm getting worried." She urged. Tremont stared from her to John and then to Ryan. He decided to speak, concluding that his son would be too young to understand the s
CHAPTER FORTY ONE~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Aurora clutched her stomach as she emptied bile into the lavatory, her stomach hurt, she couldn't count how many times she had vomited since the last hour. She always has had a weak stomach, it wasn't used to the water given to them in this place. She sighed as she splashed water over her face and rinsed her mouth. The detention center didn't provide a mirror but could guess that she looked horrible, she was leaner, her once long hair had been shortened as per the rules. "Hey! How long do you intend to spend in there!" An impatient voice yelled. Aurora adjusted her clothes and stepped out of the lavatory, only for one of her fellow inmates who had been waiting outside to bump into her. "You better watch it whore!" The inmate snapped bitterly, shoving Aurora hard against the wall. Aurora staggered to regain her stand to stare at Paula, it wasn't the first time the girl had been rude and mean to her, Even so
CHAPTER FORTY TWO~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Tremont almost couldn't recognize the woman lying so still on the small bed. Bandages covered some of the bruises on the frail body which the provided hospital grown had failed to hide. His heart gnawed with the same intensity of anxiousness as it had when he had first found her under the heavy rain yesterday. How did she turn out like this in only the space of some weeks? The woman he had sent to prison had been healthy-looking. Now, she was painfully thin, her complexion was pale and waxy, her previously long hair was now short and dry, he even spotted some fresh bruises on her face. ' She is suffering from a severe case of cholera, combined with the infections from the untreated bruises on her body, if she had been brought any later, I'm afraid that it would have been difficult to save her ' The doctor's words echoed in his mind.The more he stared at her unmoving form, the uncomfortable sensation in his heart
CHAPTER FORTY THREE~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~"Water." Her mouth felt all dry and swollen. She opened her mouth and managed to repeat the words, this time her eyes fluttered open. The first thing she realized was that the walls were different from those of her prison cell. She suddenly remembered she had been released!After that...The thought was shoved aside when a glass of water was presented in front of her, she grabbed the glass greedily and dragged it to her lips. At that moment, she gazed at the person who had handed the water and her shaky fingers gave way.The glass fell to the tiled floor with a loud shattering sound. She was barely conscious of the sound. Her body was left frozen in shock, she couldn't tear her eyes away from the man in front of her.Dressed in a charcoal grey suit, his dark hair thoroughly combed was none other than the very person who had sent her to jail.Her husband.Trem
CHAPTER FORTY FOUR~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~' Make yourself presentable ' Tremont had spoken before leaving the room. Was it an hour ago that he had mentioned the charity function?Aurora stared from the expensive-looking clothes to the jewelry that appeared to be very valuable, Aurora decided one thing. She wasn't going to attend. She paced around the room, deeply lost in thoughts. First, he had taken care of her expenses and had brought her home from the hospital. Now, he wanted her to attend a charity event with him? A sigh escaped her mouth when a knock sounded on the door. She walked towards it to pull it open. She met Tremont's familiar gaze. He seemed to access her every feature with an emotion she didn't recognize. Her heart skipped hard when his gaze found hers again. She noticed that he was dressed in a flawlessly ironed black tuxedo, his dark hair had been brushed to perfection. He was strikingly handsome, Aurora thought i
CHAPTER FORTY FIVE~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~The questions started to pour like rain.' They were rumors that you sent your wife to jail, how true is that? 'Aurora couldn't breathe, she was feeling light-headed, most of all, she wanted to disappear from their midst, but that was something impossible."Mrs. Tremont, a source spoke that you tried to kill your mother-in-law, was that the reason you were imprisoned?" A faceless voice from the crowd yelled.Aurora's heart was thumping too fast, she was going to suffer from a panic attack. Suddenly, her fingers were enclosed in warm larger ones. She lifted her head sideways to stare at Tremont, her heart missing a beat when she found him studying her closely.Confusion raced through her mind, didn't he bring her here to humiliate her? Why was he clasping her hand?Tremont turned towards the crowd of reporters and spoke for the first time."Those are plain rumors, my wife and I ar
CHAPTER FORTY SIX~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Georgina couldn't get enough drinks. She wanted to forget her argument with Tremont but couldn't.How could he treat her so? Didn't he know how much he meant to her?He had publicly denied her!Since he found out that she had framed Aurora, he had spoken less and less to her, and now this.Was she starting to lose him to that whore? No... She couldn't!Not after all her years of waiting for him!"Did he really say that you guys are over?" Audrey spoke sympathetically while Nicole poured the wine for her friend.Georgina blinked back tears. Her eyes suddenly caught sight of Aurora who was sitting only a few tables away.A few women were surrounding Aurora, all of them probably trying to curry favor with her.That used to be her spot! Georgina fumed inwardly, she had never hated anyone so deeply as she did this woman."It's all because of his new wife! I'
CHAPTER FORTY SEVEN~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Aurora was yet to recover from her shock."Not even a hello?" George smirked, taking a step closer towards her.His step was unsteady, which made Aurora realize that he must have had a few drinks."Not really, I have nothing to say to you." Aurora started to leave when George suddenly reached out to her, his hand encircling hers.All Aurora felt from the touch was disgust but George was adamant about not letting go."Do you have to pretend that you don't know me? After all, we were once husband and wife." His breath reeked of alcohol as he assessed her with a leery expression that spread an uncomfortable feeling through Aurora."You have to let me go this instant! Or I will have to help!" Aurora gritted but George merely scoffed."It seems to be true, it was all over the news that you married a rich man, you are now the wife of Tremont Stone." There was a
CHAPTER SEVENTY SIX~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Aurora walked into the hospital room, the doctors had just finished checking up on Tina. Tina was getting better but it would be a few weeks before she could be deemed fit to return home."How do you feel, today? The doctor said you are improving and in no time, you can walk all by yourself." Aurora smiled brightly but got no response, all she got was the guilt and tears welling up in Tina's eyes. A sigh escaped her mouth as she walked to take the seat beside Tina."I already told you that I don't blame you, look you were in an even worse condition than I was."Tina shook her head, she wasn't willing to believe that Aurora could forgive her so easily."I'm so s...sorry, you trusted me so much, I failed you as a friend... Everything you've done for me... I just." Her voice cracked with tears that made Aurora stare at her sympathetically. She didn't understand why Tina was so hard on hers
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Aurora didn't expect George to scream aloud, his face was squeezed tight in pain as the gun slipped from his hand. His eyes were wide with terror and defeat as he continued to stare at something, or rather someone behind them.Aurora, still in shock and confusion registered the footsteps and movements. Soon after, the police surrounded the room.While they had been distracted in their fights earlier, Aurora and George had failed to realize the cops who had quietly surrounded the building, until it was too late. The police had fired twice at George before he had the chance to pull the trigger on Sammie.From the corner of her gaze, she met two pairs of familiar once.Tremont!He was here!It didn't matter who moved first as seconds later she was flying into his arms. Tremont squeezed her into his embrace, thinking how fatal it would have been if they had arrived even a second la
CHAPTER SEVENTY FOUR~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~"You need to be still or we will have no choice but to sedate you!" One of the doctors warned Tina who was struggling to sit up despite the several tubes connected to her body."I h..have to see h..him! It's all m..my fault He took her!" Tears leaked from Tina's eyes as guilt deeply overwhelmed her. She did not deserve to live or get treatments, not after she had betrayed her only friend. She had been too scared back then and had complied to do what that evil man had ordered.If anything happened to Aurora, she wouldn't be able to bear the sin she had committed.Tremont hurried inside the intensive care unit, the moment Tina saw him approaching, she visibly relaxed a bit. "What happened? Who did this to you? Where is my wife?" The distress was evident in Tremont's voice as he walked to stand beside her bed."He took her, please you have to save her! I'm so sorry."Tremont didn't k
CHAPTER SEVENTY THREE~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~"I don't know anything! You have to believe me!" Georgina cried. She indeed had been shocked to have been accused of shooting a woman whose name she had never heard before, not only that, Aurora was missing? Not that she didn't deserve it, Georgina thought hatefully."Do you expect me to believe that? this is your last and only chance to start speaking! Where is my wife! And I swear if you've hurt her, I'll ensure you die in such a miserable way!" Georgina had never seen Tremont looking so angry, hate and anger coursed through her veins. In the end, all he cared about was that bitch!It was never her and it would never be! Tremont had all but taken her love for granted.Georgina hoped that Aurora was never found, she hoped that she died a painful death wherever she was! It suddenly came to her realization that if Aurora was missing, it would surely have something to do with George.&nbs
CHAPTER SEVENTY TWO~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Aurora awoke to a sharp painful sensation in her head. All she saw was complete darkness. Where was she? It took her a moment to realize that she was blindfolded, her hands were tied together, so were her legs.Panic and adrenaline kicked immediately, she struggled against the binds but only succeeded in hurting her wrists and ankles.She had been kidnapped by George! Why was he doing this? And Tina, did George kill her? She wondered if Tremont had realized that she was missing. The constant collisions let her know that she was in a car? For how long had she been unconscious and where was George taking her?Her eyes prickled with tears as she thought that she was going to miss Ryan's birthday, what if she never gets to see them ever again?Aurora heard the car screech to a halt, seconds later the sound of the door opening and footsteps reached her ears. "Wake
CHAPTER SEVENTY ONE~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~The woman stared at the blood in her hands, a killer's hands, but she had not regretted it a single bit.Georgina almost laughed crazily, the ugly idiot who had dared touch her with his filthy hands was dead! He had gotten drunk and Georgina had wasted no time, she had slammed his head with a flower vase until he was knocked out cold. Just to be sure that he was dead, she had grabbed the kitchen knife and stabbed him for every time he had used her like a whore.Now she could proudly say that she was her mother's daughter. She was dressed in an oversized dress she had found at the bartender's house, she walked barefoot ignoring the strange looks she got from the people on the sidewalk. No one recognized the dirty-looking woman and none of them would ever guess that this was Georgina Stanford, Former super international model, and daughter to Harrison Stanford. She had also been Tremont's Stone fia
CHAPTER SEVENTY~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Time slowly went past, some days, Aurora found herself thinking if that phone call had been real. If so, who could play such a deep prank with her? Only a few people who knew about Sammie and Aurora couldn't begin to suspect any one of them.She tried hard to concentrate, tomorrow was Ryan's birthday, she couldn't believe that he was finally turning three. This was his first birthday that she was going to be present, she couldn't help wanting it to be as perfect as possible.Arms wrapped around her waist and she smiled before turning around. She stared at Tremont thinking that it was a miracle how their marriage and relationship had progressed so quickly."What's wrong? You seemed stressed lately." Tremont commented, Aurora hadn't realized it but he had caught her staring into space, seeming lost in thought each time she thought no one was paying attention. He genuinely wished that she could s
CHAPTER SIXTY NINE~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~"I'm helpless and can't find him, I just don't know what to do!" Aurora watched Tina's distraught features. Tina had been released from prison two weeks ago but she was looking more miserable than ever.Tina had returned to the orphanage on the first day of her release from jail, only to find out that little Sam as she used to call him had gone missing. The management and police had assured her that they were doing their best to find him."I was supposed to care for him!" Tina wiped her eyes, staring at Aurora who wore a sympathetic look. Samuel was by no means biologically related to Tina, but she had bonded with the boy from the first moment he had been brought to the orphanage three years ago."We are going to find him, Ian also promised to help with his connections...""Oh no no." Tina spoke in a rush and Aurora's brow rose in surprise."I mean, he's already done so
