ARABELLA.
"Peter. " I moan when he pulls away from the kiss, and slowly opens his eyes to meet mine. They are darkened; desire and lust swimming in them and my heart thunders in my chest because I'm sure mine are the same.
"Ara. " He calls my name softly and I can no longer hold back. I grip the front of his shirt and pull his mouth back to mine. A groan leaves his lips as I force them open, and slide my tongue inside; my hands now moving from his shoulders to his chest, trailing down his body and stopping at the hem of his shirt.
His hand curls around the back of my head as he slowly lowers me on the bed, and a jolt of excitement runs across my body when my back hits against the soft mattress, warmth pooling in my lower belly.
It's happening. It's really happening. We're finally crossing that one line.
All thoughts evaporate when Pete removes his mouth from mine to litter kisses across my neck. I bite down on my lips to suppress the loud moan that threatens to break out as I feel his hand moves closer to my chest, and my hand on his shirt slips further down, till I'm met with the waistband of his pants and when his teeth scapes against the skin of my neck, eliciting a whimper out of me; my hand rubs over the obvious erection that presses against his pants.
In a beat of a second, Pete pulls away from me with panicked eyes and my breath comes out in short pants as I wait for him to move over again, but he doesn't. He remains standing over me with wide eyes, and then he's pulling out of bed.
"Pete?" I call in confusion as I prop my elbows against the mattress and he shakes his head, "I'm so sorry, Ara. I'm so sorry. I don't know what got over me. "
"What? What are you talking about, Pete? Come back here. " I extend my hand in an attempt to grab him, but he backs further away, and my chest drops, all flames of excitement leaving my body at the thought that this is happening again.
He turns me on. Brings me closer to the edge, and then snatches it all from me. Of course, this was going to happen. It's what he always does.
"We shouldn't, Ara. We can't. " His words bring my attention to him and I sit upright on the bed, "Are we honestly going through this again?"
"You have to understand me, Ara. We—"
"And I've tried!" I raise my voice, the pent up sexual frustration and sudden anger taking over my senses. When Pete pushes his head back, as if he'd just been hit. I take a breath and start again, "I've tried Pete. I've tried to understand you, but I don't get what it is. I've told you numerous times that I'm alright with this. I'm ready to take the next step with you, but why do you keep holding back? Why do you getting my hopes up, only to crash them all? Are you not attracted to me in that way? Is that what it is? I'm not attractive enough to touch?"
"Of course not, baby. That's not it. That's never it. " He assures and I say, "Then what's it? Why don't you want to go further than a kiss? Why do you keep holding back with me?"
"You have to understand me, Ara. " He murmurs as he steps closer. He bends over the edge of the bed, and holds out his hands to me. When I place mine over them, he rubs my knuckles and smiles at me, "I know you want this, but you have to trust me; this isn't the right time. "
"Then when's the right time?" I lift a brow, my voice soft and he lifts one of his hands to cup my cheek. "It'll be here, and when it comes; I promise to make up for every single time I've denied you what you want, but for now; I just need you to trust me. Hmmm?"
When I don't give a response, he lifts my other hand and pouts, and with a sigh, I say, "Okay. I trust you. "
"I know you do. " He beams, bringing his face closer and I lower my head for him to press a kiss to my forehead before he starts to pull me out of bed. "Come on. Let's leave your room. It seems as though the temptation is in here. " He chuckles.
"When will they be back?" Pete asks as we walk out of my room and down the hallway that leads us to the living room.
"They should be here any minute from now. " I respond to his question as we arrive in the living room, and I drop my hand from his to walk to the kitchen. Pouring myself a glass of water, I down the content in one shot and swipe my hand across my lips, my chest falling in a sigh as I stand there with my hands pressed to the counter. After a few seconds, I return the glass and stride back to the living room, to see Peter moving out of the couch.
"I think I should start leaving. Dara just texted. " He says when I arrive in front of him and I hum, "You should leave then. You don't want to keep her waiting. "
He nods, then surprises me by sliding his hand around my waist, pulling me to his chest. "You're not like... Mad at me, are you?"
"I'm not. " I assure him with a small smile, giving his arm a caress and his smile grows as he angles his head to the side and meets my lips. It's a short peck, and then he leans back.
"I'll see you at school tomorrow, yeah?" He whispers and when I nod, he presses his lips to the tip of my nose before he releases his grip on me.
I turn around on the spot as I watch him leave, waving at him and he's about to walk out when the door opens; Sinclair and Ashley walking inside with baby Winnie.
A smile lifts to my face as they exchange greetings, and not without my brother boring holes into the back of his head as Pete finally disappears out of the house.
"You're back. " I speak when the door closes and all gazes drop on me.
"You were with him, again?" My brother is the first to speak as they start to move towards me and I say, "He's my boyfriend. When will you get used to him coming here to see me?"
"Never. " He answers as he loosens his tie. "The only reason he's always walking out of here alive is because of Little Greene. " I shake my head as I take the baby from Ashley, and she ruffles my hair.
"How was the meeting?" I ask her and she grins, "Awesome. Tiring, but awesome. I had a lot of fun. "
"I hope he didn't try to cross a line?" Clair's voice interrupts us and Ashley laughs as I take a breath at my brother's usual overprotectiveness again.
I turn to him. "He didn't. And even if he did, I can take care of myself. I'm eighteen, Clair. Not six. Stop being so overprotective. "
"You're eighteen and you live under my roof. " He points out and Ashley beats me to speak, "I can still remember what we did when I was her age, Sin. Let the girl live her life. "
"She's like this because you keep encouraging her. " He scoffs and she says, "Maybe you should try to do the same thing. It's more exciting that way. "
"You're saying that because—" Sinclair doesn't get to finish his words as Ashley steps closer to him, and holds the front of his jacket. "Shhh, baby. We're not arguing over this again, are we?"
I place Winnie against my shoulder as I watch my brother melts to the touch and loving gaze of his wife. He holds her face as he opens his mouth, "No. No, we're not. I'm powerless against you. "
Ashley chuckles, going on her toes to reach him and I roll my eyes, turning away from them as they close their mouths together, knowing they're about to go into their own world again. Ignoring and forgetting everything and everyone else around them.
"I'll take Winnie to bed. " I announce, and I'm not surprised when I don't receive a response. I've been living with this couple since I was five, and I swear it's like their love for each other grows even more with each year that passes by. You'd think after marriage and a six-year-old kid, they'd tone out the heaviness of desire and adoration for each other, but they don't. I've watched them be and grow in love for years, and I can never admire their love more than I already do.
After tucking Winnie into bed and living her teddy beside her, I proceed to walk out of her room, and back into the living room to see Ashley pressed to the back of the couch with Clair hovering over her, the sounds of their mouths smacking loud in the air. And there goes the usual scenery I get from a couple that finds it hard to keep their hands off each other.
"I'm in here. " I voice out, causing them to break away. When my brother looks back at me, I say, "That's another one for get a room. "
He chuckles and looks back at his wife, who says, "Where's my daughter?"
"I tucked her in bed. " I answer and she nods, pressing her lips to his one more time before she moves away from him. "I should prepare dinner. What do you want to eat, babe?"
"You. " I hear him respond and I roll my eyes as they fall into another one of their flirty conversations while I walk to the couch. At the sound of a peep, I take out my phone and a sigh leaves my lips at the sight of my boyfriend's name.
PETE: I'm home. What are you up to?
I angle my head to the two who stand in the middle of the room, cradled against each other before I look back to my screen, and with a bite of my lips; I start to type out a reply.
~
"Ara! Are you coming down?" I hear the sound of Ashley and I yell back, "I am! On my way. " Giving one glance at the mirror next to my bed, I pull at the edge of my shoe before I grab my bag and walk out of my room.
I'm only a step away from the living room when my phone vibrates and I frown at the text across my screen.
DEX: I'm afraid I can't pick you up today, babe. Think you could get here yourself?
ME: What's wrong? Is everything alright?
"Why are you frowning?" I raise my head at the sound of Ashley's voice and I say, "It's Dex. He said he can't pick me up. "
"Oh, is he alright? He never fails to pick you up. " She asks as she stretches the bowl to me and I pick a slice of apple with the fork. "Same thing I asked him. "
She's about to speak again when my phone vibrates and she gestures for me to check.
DEX: Everything is. Just mom's usual moments. You don't have to worry about me, though. I'll meet you at school.
ME: Alright, be careful with her.
"It's just his mom. " I inform Ashley when I lift my head to grab a slice of watermelon and she says, "That's unavoidable then. "
"I know. " I sigh, picking a cucumber before I leave the fork. " I guess I'll have to get to school on my own. "
"Sin can take you. " She says and my eyes widen, "He didn't leave yet?"
Her cheeks redden as she part her lips. "I might have taken a minute or two out of his time. "
"Why am I not surprised?" I shake my head and she laughs as she turns back in the direction of the kitchen. "Where's my Winnie?" I call out to her and she responds with, "She's still asleep. "
I hum as I stride to the couch and press my back against it. Ashley moves from the kitchen, and she throws me a smile as she walks up the stairs. In no less than a minute, she arrives back in the living room with a suitcase and some files in hand.
"I'll help you with that. " I tell her and move closer to take the flies from her before we turn in the direction of the door. Ashley steps in front of me and throws the suitcase in the bag, and I'm about to lower my head when my eyes catch the sight of a figure.
Straightening my back, I look ahead of me to see a guy standing next to a bike. His head snaps to me, and a cold shiver runs across my body as he gives me once over before he turns his head away and gets on his bike.
"Ara. " I jump at the sound of Ashley's voice to see her standing next to me with narrowed eyes. "Why did you freeze?"
"I didn't. " I argue and she persists, "You did. What were you looking at?"
Without much thought, I direct my eyes back to the previous spot, and open my mouth, "Who's that? Do we have someone new moving it?"
Ashley shifts closer to the side, before she turns back to me. "Oh, him. Your brother said there'd be someone new moving in. "
"When?" I ask her and she lifts a brow, "Why are you so bothered about it?"
"I'm not. " I shake my head, tearing my gaze away from her as I throw the files into the seat and I hear her chuckle behind me. "You sound so. "
"I'm not. " I insist when I meet her eyes again, "I'm merely curious. Nothing more. It's just strange to see someone new around here. "
"What are you two talking about?" Ashley turns away from me at the sound of my brother's voice, and I look back to the spot again, slowly rubbing my hand across my chest before I shake my head and slide into the car.
What the hell was that feeling?
ARABELLA. "Don't you think you're forgetting something?" Sinclair calls out to me when I step out of the car and I adjust my backpack before I turn to him with a frown. "I don't think so?" I look over at my seat to ensure I have everything with me. Raising my head to his gaze, I state firmly, "I'm not. " "Are you sure about that? It seems like you are. " He says, turning his head to the other side and I smile at the meaning of his words. "Don't you think I'm a little too old for that now?" I tease him, folding my hands to my chest and when he glares at me, I giggle before I slip my head through the window. He leans over the seat and I press my lips to his cheek before I move back, "Satisfied?" "Have fun. " He says as he starts the car and I give him a small wave as I watch his car disappear out of sight before I turn back to the building. Striding down the usual hallway like I've been doing since the beginning of the semester, I walk straight to my locker. Inputting the combi
ARABELLA. "So what happened last night?" Dex asks as we stride down the hallway and I say, "What happened?" He gives me a side-eye. "The party?" "Oh, right. The party. " I mumble, and he tilts his head to my side, "Are you okay? You've been acting weird since I picked you up. " "I'm alright. I didn't stay long at the party though. " I tell him, and just as he opens his mouth to speak again; Peter appears in front of us with a sad expression on his face as he calls my name, "Arabella. " I sigh. "What do you want, Peter?" "Why didn't you respond to any of my texts? And you can't tell me you missed them, Bella. I know you didn't. " He says and I raise my shoulder, "I didn't want to. " "You didn't want to respond to my texts?" He repeats and I hum. "Does that come as a surprise to you?" "Are you still mad at me?" He asks and I let out a small laugh. "Why'd I be? Did you do something for me to be mad?" "Babe. " He drawls and I look away from him. "Can you move? I don't want to be
ARABELLA. "Thank you. " I mutter to him as I stride inside while he closes the door. I wait for him to move before I follow him, and he stops in the middle of the living room. Without much thought, I allow my eyes to run across the room. It looks almost the same as mine, except this is dressed in white instead of the usual classic blue. "Stay here for a minute. " I hear Alexander say, bringing my attention back to him and I nod. He gives me one more glance before he turns away, and I don't fail to let my eyes follow him, shamelessly admiring the bare view of his back. After he disappears through the corner, I look down at myself and wipe my hand down my shirt. "Here you have it. " Alexander appears again, and when I turn my head to him, he's dressed in black sweatpants that hang quite low on his hips and looks too good than I'd love to notice, bare-chested with his hair falling over his head in curls and holding out a shirt to me. "Oh, you don't have to—" "You're wet. " He say
ARABELLA. "Ara. " I hear Dex whisper behind me, but I don't turn to him, and when he calls my name again; I raise my shoulder slightly and tighten my grip on the brush, focusing on the faint yellow lines across the board. "Arabella!" He calls in a tiny yell this time and I groan, turning to meet his eyes. "What?" I snap and he pushes his head back, looking a bit taken aback. "Damn. Why are so pissed?" He asks and I sigh, "You know how I am when it comes to art class. You aren't exactly helping me focus. " A half-truth, and a half-lie. For the other half, I'd rather keep to myself, and ignore the fact that it truly bothers me. "Are you sure that's all this is about?" Dex asks and I throw him a small smile. "Of course it is. I'm sorry for snapping at you. What do you want?""Nothing. " He replies nonchalantly before a grin takes over his face as he grabs his phone. "I just want to show you this picture. "Before Dex turns his screen to me, I know what awaits me and the surprise does
ARABELLA. My hands slowly move to his waist, and I find myself kissing him back, trying to follow his guide as he slowly tilts my head and a shameful sound of pleasure leaves the back of my throat as his tongue lowers mine. All too soon, his lips leave mine and he looks into my eyes for some seconds before he leans back, his touch disappearing along with his space, and I don't move from the spot as I try to calm my racing heart, still in a daze from the kiss. "What are you still doing here?" I hear Alexander say and Nina's voice comes next. "Did you just—" "Yes, I just kissed her. Do you want more?" She scoffs. "They say the innocent-looking are always the bad ones. How does it feel to fool everyone with that—" "Leave. " Alex growls out, halting the rest of her words and there's silence in the room before Nina chuckles. "Your boyfriend will definitely hear of this, chick. " At the mention of that, my head snaps to Nina and she has a small smirk on her face before Alexander gra
ARABELLA. "Peter, please. Don't do this. " I plead as his leg rubs between my thighs, his mouth moving over my cleavage, and he's getting closer to my chest when the sound of a beep goes off. Peter pushes back his head, his eyes shifting to the phone I have in my front pocket, and the second he releases his grip and grabs the phone, removing his leg between my thighs; I knee his stomach, and rush to the door. The sound of his groan is the last thing I hear before I run out of the room, not caring that my phone is with him. Tears stream down my cheeks as I keep running with my palm pressed to my mouth, and my sobs breaking through. I gasp and my heart takes a jump when I bump into a body. "Arabella! There you are. I've been looking for—" Dex stops mid-sentence when I raise my head and I watch a muscle tick in his jaw as he grinds out his words, "What did he do?" "Nothing. " I sniff, wiping my tears and he shakes his head. "He did something. Tell me what the fuck he did, Ara and
ARABELLA. Peter is standing in front of me, and my mouth hangs at his black eye and other obvious bruises. He looks like he got into a big fight, and lost in every single way. "Peter?" I call and he removes his hands from my shoulders, taking a step back to leave a tiny distance between us. "What the hell happened to you?" He opens his mouth, "That doesn't matter right now. I'm so glad I found you alone. " "What–" "I'm so sorry, Ara. " He interrupts me before I can speak any further, guilt covering his expression and I take a swallow at his words reference "I don't know how many times I have to say that, I don't care how many times I'd have to, but I'm so fucking sorry. I had no idea what I was doing when I said those words to you. " "Oh, didn't you now?" I let out a sad chuckle and he shakes his head, "I don't know what came over me. You have to forgive me. Please. I'm sorry. " "You called me a whore. " I point out and he nods, lowering his gaze, "I'm sorry. " "Because of so
ARABELLA. I look into his eyes and his gaze is soft as he rests it on me. Alexander proceeds to surprise me by saying, "I'm sorry. " My eyes widen and I watch the bob in his throat shift a bit as he keeps his eyes locked on mine. "What? Why?" I ask and he says, "I thought that'd be the right thing to say. You're in this because of what I did, aren't you?" "No. " I respond to him and when he narrows his eyes, I say, "Maybe a bit, but the fault doesn't entirely rest on you. " "You have eyes all over you because I kissed you. I think the fault pretty much rests on me. " He argues, moving his hand and I shake my head. "It doesn't. People here will find things to talk about, so that isn't a surprise. It's just a matter of time before they find someone else to pick on and I become history. " "What?" I smile when he hums and he says, "Nothing. You just reminded me of something. " "Oh. " I mouth and he nods. "I'm not taking it back, though. " "Taking what back?" "My sorry. " He cl
Hellooo Loves, it’s been a long time, hasn’t it? I apologize for the late update but thank you so much for being patient with me.We’ve now come to the end of Arabella’s and Alexander’s story but as seen, Dex’s and Veronica’s isn’t over yet. There’ll be a short book attached to this one for Dex’s and Veronica’s story. Then after their story is done, we’ll have bonus chapters on Alex and Ara, where we’ll get to know about their lives after high school. This will not be now, though because I’ll be completing my other book—My Stepbrother—in June along with writing my new book.In case some people don’t know yet, I have a new book on the app. It’s titled My Best Friend’s Girl and you can check it out if you’re interested. The characters are new to me, and I’m sure many of you would enjoy the journey as much as I’m enjoying writing it.Anyway, I’ll be writing My Best Friend’s Girl and completing My Stepbrother in June so bonus chapters with DexVeronica’s short book won’t be happening then.
GRADUATION DAY.~TWO MONTHS LATER~ARABELLA."Is Alex not coming?" Ashley asks me again after Sinclair leaves to attend an urgent business, and I frown as I take my phone out of my purse. The last texts I’ve sent him stare back at me with no response and I chew my cheek. "I don’t know. He isn’t responding.""Are you sure he’s okay?" He should be. We spoke last night before I went to bed and I saw his bike in front of his house this morning, but I’ve heard nothing from him. Could he be bummed that he isn’t graduating with me? But that was his choice. After Alexander returned from Florida, he told me he had a change of mind. The small life he wanted to live once was no longer his dream and after seeing his mother struggle and fight for her life, he now wants to be a doctor. He studied hard for the little time he had left till we took the exams. Maybe even more than me. He had no time to be with me and I understood. I’m happy he has a dream he’s pursuing and when the results came out, he
ARABELLA.We walk back into the house with our intertwined fingers and I pass Alexander a smile when Dex sees him calling out his name from the sofa."That’s you?" Dex stands from the couch and strides toward us. His hands are in his pockets and his gaze is on Alex, who pushes out his other hand, refusing to let me go. "Hey, dude."Dex looks at the outstretched hand, and his face hardens. "Are you back now after almost breaking my best friend’s heart?" He throws the question at Alex, who looks down at me before tightening his hand against mine. When he looks away, I try to meet Dex’s eyes, but he’s too busy glaring at Alex. The tension in the air rises as Alex’s hand stays in the air while Dex looks like he’s just two seconds away from punching him."You should know I’d never intentionally do that. They were stuff back at my home that needed to be taken care of and there was no avoid—"Dex’s face suddenly breaks in a smile and before Alex can finish, he slaps a hand on his shoulder. "
ALEXANDER. I continue to pace down the hallway, my heart drumming in my chest with each second that ticks by, and no one coming out of that room. My gaze turns on Kaleb, who’s nervously tapping his feet against the floor and fidgeting in his seat, his eyes occasionally shifting from his moving hands to the door next to him. "She’ll be fine," I tell him as I slap a hand on his thigh to keep it steady before I fall into the seat next to him. He shakes his head as he turns to me. "It’s been hours and there’s been nothing. Just people moving in and out of there, and refusing to tell us anything." "That’s kind of how the surgery works." I let out a chuckle, trying to suppress the fact that I’m just as afraid as he is. Afraid the news that comes out of there wouldn’t be the one we want. "Seriously, Kaleb; she’ll be fine. Remember what she told us: we can’t get scared no matter what happens." "I’m trying." He hisses as he bends over his back and drops his clamped hands to his legs. I rem
ARABELLA. I gaze at Alex between my legs and my head falls back on the arm of the couch with a loud moan as I feel his tongue laps at my core. "Alex…" I call out his name as I pull at the end of his curls and he hums with his lips pressed to my pussy, the vibration sending shocks through my body and I drip even more on his tongue. "Oh God," my other hand moves to my chest, and I squeeze my breast through the fabric of my dress as my eyes screw shut, my toes curling around his neck. "Oh, don’t you dare do that." I snap my eyes open when Alexander suddenly yanks my hand off my chest and also because he removes his head from my pussy, ripping away my fast-coming pleasure and I frown when I meet his eyes. He only grins down at me, as if he enjoys having me this way—frustrated and desperate for release. "Alex…" "Shh, baby." He whispers as he comes down over me, his hands slipping to my sides and I’m sure he can hear how fast my heart is beating in my chest at this close distance. "I tol
ALEXANDER. I walk into the house with my shoulders sank and Arabella is standing in the middle of the living room. She smiles when she sees me and immediately starts moving in my direction. I stretch my hands and pull her into my chest once she’s close enough, and she wraps her arms around my neck, pressing herself against me. "Hm." I moan into her neck as my hands lock around her waist and grip tight. "Are you okay?" Arabella asks against my chest and I pull back to look at her pretty face but keep my hands around her waist. She doesn’t remove hers from my neck either, and I drop my forehead on hers. "I’m so fucking sorry, baby," I whisper, and she moves one hand to my hair, threading it through my curls while the other stays on the back of my neck. "What are you sorry for? You’ve done nothing wrong." She says in a soft voice, and I push back my head to look into her eyes. I keep my eyes on her as I drop my hands to her ass and bend my legs back slightly. I lift her in my arms and
ALEXANDER. ME: I’m on my way. I don’t get another reply and I sigh as I throw my phone back into my pocket before I turn to Mom, whose head is lifted to me. Her brows are arched when she asks, "Is everything alright?" "Just the company. Really weird stuff, and I’m not sure how they’re happening." I inform her in a tired voice, and she drops the frame in her hand to her side. "Weird stuff happens all the time with business." She chuckles and I stare at her even when I know her eyes are on me. She doesn’t question it and I stare some more before I crouch before her and grab her hands. If she’s surprised by my sudden display of affection, she definitely doesn’t show it and only gives me a questioning look as we lock gazes. "Will you be… like you know… mad? If I fail? If I’m unable to save the company?" I ask and she takes a while to answer. When she does, her voice is gentle and laced with assurance. "If that’s what you’re afraid of, then you need not be. I told you before: it’s up to
ALEXANDER. My eyes widen. "Amanda?" I croak as I keep my eyes on Zack, who looks like he just got denied the biggest and most important goal of his life. "But how… How did she? How did that happen? We have more than 60% of the shares and she only got the…" "No, Alex." Zack interrupts and pushes himself off the wall he’s leaned against. He swipes a hand down his face before he crosses his hands over his chest. "She wasn’t the one. The buyer isn’t Amanda." I wiggle my brows. "I don’t understand. Are you saying…" I pause and I don’t complete the words before Zack nods, confirming the thought that comes to mind. "There’s a new buyer?" "Yeah." "Who? And how exactly did they manage to buy the company without having shares?" He sighs. "I don’t know who it is and I don’t know how they did this, but they must be really good." He lets out a dry chuckle. "Exceptionally good, because I never thought this was possible. I didn’t know…" "We have to find out who it is." "We’re in the dark. W
ALEXANDER."Hi." Sofia smiles as she adjusts her bag on her shoulder. Her brows furrow as her eyes drag down my body before she holds my gaze again. "I didn’t know you were back in Florida. What are you doing here?""Just stuff," I mutter as my eyes go to her stomach. Sofia must have noticed me staring because she drops a hand on it and I raise my gaze. "What are you doing here?""I came to meet my mom." She provides and when I stare at her, confused, she continues. "I didn’t exactly take the advice you gave.""Oh?""But I didn’t go through with the terrible plan I had either." She chuckles and I smile as I take in the happiness that radiates on her face. She looks sunny. Different from the last time I saw her, and her eyes are twinkling. "I spoke to Mom about it and it took a while, but she understood. Dad, however, didn’t. I had to leave home for a while, but I think everything should be back to normal soon.""I’m happy for you, Sofia," I tell her and she beams. "Thank you. I am. Ve
