COLONY BASE Chapter 5

Out of nowhere, the virus just suddenly begun to circulate around the Capital and its surrounding. Including here, 20 years ago. This virus made humans fall asleep like in a comatose without any cause. In short, it attacks the brain taking control of it.

As we didn't know this at first, people thought that the sudden wave of deep sleep patients must've just been a natural cause. However, as the number of people who gets infected grew more the society got cautious.

One night, all of the patients suddenly woke up and attacked everyone which lead to a ferocious bloodshed everywhere.

"Don't you think it's strange? It seems like they were triggered by something or anything." he asked me.

"I don't know. I'm not yet born that year." I answered then he chuckled again.

"You're really funny young lad. So..." he continued.

Out of nowhere, a group of 7 people which introduced themselves as the Pointers came with their special weapons. They were fighting the infected patients with combat skills above all.

After an hour or two, every infected patients were back to deep sleep once again all of a sudden. Some humans survived but many were slaughtered. People had a really hard time moving on from that time.

Then it was discovered that once a person gets their brain totally infected, they've already become one of the Undead. They may seem to just fall into a deep sleep but they're totally just an empty vessel. They look alive but they're not human anymore. 

It is not yet known on how the virus infects a subject but it is believed that if you are attacked by an infected one, you will acquire the said virus.

After that, the Pointers took control of it then the Emperor announced that they were left in-charge of the matter. They are the ones hunting and getting rid of the infected ones which they considered to be dead already. 

A lots of families were angered about the innocent slaughter. But having fear towards death, the loss of families were ignored and continued their life forgetting about it. As time went by, the Pointers became an organization that nobody can touch even the Police Department.

There are still people getting infected somewhere, thus the Pointers are moving everywhere to eliminate.

"Just recently, I heard some people are starting to fall into deep sleep. Therefore, I'm suspecting that the virus has gotten stronger and is in circulation once again."

"So, are you saying my mother might attack and infect someone soon?"

"Yes, I guess."

"Kid, you should take care of your matter as soon as possible before it gets big. The Pointers might just suddenly come at your house unexpectedly and kill your family because of that." he continued and he looked at me worried.

After having a long talk with Daiki-san, I walked away with lots of information and confusion playing inside my head which my brain can't even keep up.

I know it.

I know it, damn too well.

That we need to take care of mom as soon as possible.

But how can I do it? I'm afraid. I don't want to kill her in my own hands.

"I know how much it hurts, kid. But either you get hurt now or regret forever once you made your final decision later."

What Daiki-san said kept playing on my mind.

What am I supposed to do? I don't know.

"My Lady, we should be at home by this hour." Rin reminded and kept following Lady Arriane.

"I forgot my parasol at the Dressmaker Shop the other day."

"But the shop is that way, My Lady." Rin said and pointed the opposite way they are going.

"Hm... My bad, I forgot."

Lady Arriane walked around but Rin kept noticing her looking back at the sea.

*Sighed

"My Lady, do you want to go to the Port." she asked straight.

"W-What?? W-What are y-you talking about? Of course, not. N-No..." Lady Arriane stutterred as she kept denying it but her face was revealing everything.

"Come on now, My Lady. We still have time before it gets dark. Ren may wait a little bit longer though." Rin pulled Lady Arriane as they got inside the carriage and went to the Port.

"R-Rin." Lady Arriane muttered.

"Our Lady needs to relax for a bit sometimes." Rin just smiled at her.

"And of course... romance." Rin whispered that made Lady Arriane blush.

"RIN!"

"Wow! Look, sis! The moon looks so bright tonight!" Sezuka mentioned looking at the moon in the sky.

"Yup! I kinda see it." Rezuka shouted at the kitchen.

"Ha, I know you don't." Sezuka mumbled and continued to admire the beautiful moonlight.

Meanwhile at the kitchen...

"Let's see, I have milk... Pepper... Ah! Noodles!" Rezuka searched as she was trying to make something special for the night but she's missing some major ingredients.

"Geez, I'm sure that idiot Ken'ichi will come home late again. I guess I'll have to go and get some." she thought and talked to herself.

"Sezuka, big sis will just go buy something from the village downhill alright? Don't go outside."

"Huh? Seshuka wants to go, too!"

"No, you stay here with Hachi. He will get sad, you know." then Rezuka pointed Hachi, their cat, who is cleaning himself. *MEOW*

"See? I will not be long. I'll come back quickly."

Sezuka nodded so Rezuka went out straight away.

The bright moonlight lightened up inside of their house so while waiting for her brother and sister to come back home, Sezuka played wih Hachi. They kept bouncing the ball inside when suddenly, it bounced quite far outside.

*MEOW*

"Oh no! The ball!" she cried.

'Don't ever go outside without me or sis, alright? Especially at night, it's dangerous.'

Her brother's advice suddenly came to her mind but she wants get their toy so badly.

*MEOW*

She looked at their cat. "I know, Hachi. But... I will be back."

She stood up and decided to get the toy. She glanced at each side of the gate first before she went and got it.

*MEOW*

"I got it, Hachi!" she happily said and lifted the ball.

*MEOW*

"Hm... I wonder what nee-shan and nii-shan's being so concerned at. There's nothing here." she whispered.

She gladly got her toy back and started to walk back when she heard some faint scratching sound becoming louder.

*scratch*

*scrATCH*

*SCRATCH*

She glanced at her side and heard it coming from their mother's detached room.

"M-Mom?"
