"You think angels never get their hands dirty? They hit people too." His father's voice turned harsh.

"Yes, but..."

"Aren't they going to kill you?" Cole was speechless. "Who are they to judge?"

"Still," Cole whispered.

"He is guilty. He is a traitor to the demon world. I think this is a fair punishment," his father added, and Cole slowly turned his head towards the man. "And as my son, it is your duty to put the demon world first. Do not disgrace yourself any more than your blood already has."

Cole flinched, trying to hide the impact of his words.

"Do not be weak." Using her strength, Mrs. Parker lifted the man upright again, and he cried as he was forced to stand upright.

The man's tears streamed down his face as he shook his head. Yes, he was involved with those who conspired, but he had a family, a home, and a life... people who cared about him.

"I... can't." Water soaked through his vision as his hands clenched into fists.
