Chapter 145 : Shadow Shifting

My head was pounding painfully as the throbbing ache rushed through it. Opening my eyes, I shook my head and looked at the sunlight seeping into the room. In that instant, the pain went away, and gradually I rolled onto my side, with my hand clutching the sheet to my chest.

The other side of the bed looked empty, but soon I spotted a small note that read,

"Today's training is early. I'll be back soon. Love you - C.S."

My eyes then shifted to the black shirt that was folded and lying on the bed mattress. I just assumed that it was left for me, and it made me smile to myself.

Taking a step out of the bedroom, with Cole's shirt hanging on my thighs, I made my way to the kitchen. It was quiet in the apartment except for the noise coming in from the open balcony door.

My feet stepped into the kitchen and headed for the fridge. There are all sorts of brands of food that I have never seen before, so I have no idea where to start. Then I spotted some fruit and decided to start there
