”Nice flowers.” Wendy commended as soon as Rebecca entered the room.

Rebecca on the other hand didn’t pay attention to what was said. She was lost in a world of her own thought.

She didn’t see the face of the biker, but from the sound of his voice, she could tell who it was. It was a voice she would recognize anytime, any day. The voice of the devil who haunts her in her dream.

A pat on the shoulder brought her back to reality. She jerked and the flower slipped from her hands, but Wendy caught it before it could fall to the floor.

“Thank you.” She mumbled.

“You are welcome… By the way, was it Mr Eric that sent you the flowers?” Wendy wanted to know so badly. Because why didn’t the delivery guy hand over the flower to her? Why did he insist on giving it to Rebecca himself?

Wendy thought it was something important and secretive, but it was just flowers. Or was there any other package given to Rebecca? Did she hide it? Wendy was so curious.

“No.” Rebecca’s short reply added to her curiosity.

“Then who?” She asked before realizing she was being too inquisitive.

As expected, Rebbecca didn’t reply. Instead, she took the flowers from her and asked to be left alone.

Wendy left the room without further questions, she headed straight to a locked room at the end of the passage, just before the stairs. She looked around for anyone in sight and when she couldn’t find any, she opened the door and walked into the room.

The room was filled with different computers and viewing screens. Some displaying live footage of the living room, kitchen and other public places in the house, while the others displaying footage of outside the building.

She rewinded it and saw when Rebecca walked outside the house, and when she collected the flowers. There was nothing strange about it, except the fact that Rebecca had a confused look on her face after the delivery guy left.

She exhaled, calming her nerves down. She had fed her curiosity and was now okay.

*****

Rebecca kept on staring at the flowers, trying to decide if she should keep it or thrash it.

It was her Favorite flower, rose, but she had hatred for the giver, so she didn’t know what to do with it.

Just as she was about to keep it on the bedside table, her gaze caught a folded paper inside the bouquet. Curiously, she pulled it out and opened it.

“WATCH THE NEWS.”

Those three words were boldly written on the paper. She doesn’t watch news, and Axel was aware of that. So if he wanted her to watch the news, then something must be up. But what could it be? Well, there was only one way to find out, and it was by watching the news as he had instructed.

She switched on the TV and changed the station to the news station.

Her eyes widened in shock when she saw the image of a familiar lady covered in blood.

The news read, “Olivia Carlo who has worked for the federal orphanage for more than a decade was found dead in her apartment. She was found shot by an unknown…”

She switched off the tv immediately, unable to believe what she just saw.

She picked up her phone immediately and just as she was about to dial her friends number, the phone rang, Ella was calling.

“Did you see the news?” Ella asked immediately the call was answered.

“Yes… I did,” Rebecca replied.

“So sad. I knew she was never the best, but there were times she was nice to us… What could have happened?” Ella thought out.

“Ella…” Rebecca called suddenly.

“What happened? Why do you sound scared?” Ella noticed the tone of her voice.

“Some minutes ago, Axel brought me flowers in disguise of a delivery guy and…”

“Wait, what? How did he know your address?” Ella cuts in.

Rebecca took a deep breath, deciding to ignore the question even though she had worriedly thought about same thing. “I found a note inside the flower and it says ‘Watch the news’ and when I did, it was talking about Mrs Olivia’s death.”

Both line went quiet, no one said a word, and it bothered Rebecaa. “Are you there?”

“Yes, I am.” Ella replied. “I just realized something. Listen Becca, we’ll talk later.”

“Don’t call me that, my…” Before Rebecca could finish talking, the line disconnected.

Different thoughts ran through her mind. From Ella’s behavior, she could tell Ella knew something, but what?

Why did Axel tell her to watch the news? What connection did he have with Mrs Olivia? And who was responsible for her death?

There was only one way to find out.
