{Ciril’s POV}
“Take your dress off and lie on the plank!” The tall and scruffy-looking He-wolf standing before me throated. He was standing before me with a trench knife in his hand and his goal was to imprint his name— or any other vile word he could think of, on my back using the knife.
I didn’t even know the bloke’s name but I knew he was one of the natives of RawHowl Pack— the same Pack I have been imprisoned in for twenty freaking years!
True story, but I digress.
I took my teary eyes off the blood-stained blade and rested it on the other person in the room.
The devil herself.
“Ivanka, please forgive my mistake. I promise I will mind my business and won’t spy on you ever again.” I pleaded while my tears made their escape, abandoning me in this unfortunate situation.
Ivanka grew a satisfied grin as she folded her arms under her breasts. “Forgive you? Where’s the fun in that?” She said.
“You want to know what will be fun?” She smiled scornfully now and replied to her rhetorical question. “Getting your skin adorned with, not only Ozias’ name, but the name of every important person in this Pack— because we own you.” She said.
She then turned to the rugged he-wolf. “Do it! Carve out the letters on her skin while I call out the names for you.” She commanded him and he grew a crooked grin.
With his hand clenched on my hair now, he forced me down on the plank. I struggled to pull his hand away but it was useless as I only worsened the pain on my skull as his grip on my hair was tight.
But then I didn’t stop struggling even though I was no match for his brutal strength.
This was my punishment for overhearing Ivanka’s convo with her she-wolf friends earlier— which had been an unfortunate coincidence!
As per my daily routine duty, I had been cleaning the hallway that led to the Alpha Mansion’s East wing when I heard a loud nattering coming from the Guest room around there.
Impulsively, I had stopped and listened for a while to ascertain what the sound actually was but then after a brief moment, I heard a voice that told me exactly what was going on.
— Ivanka’s voice.
“He’s coming tomorrow to serve as my entry ticket into the Palace. And once I’m finally there, I start making my advances towards the Prince. Prince Landon wouldn’t be able to resist my sublime beauty and charms and will have to make me his Queen! Soon, Alpha Queen Ivanka is what you minions shall address me as!” I heard her say before I tensed and backed away.
Realizing that it was one of her gossip sessions with her gang, I had tried to make my way away and even abandon my cleaning of that hallway because I knew the repercussions of being caught erring by Ivanka— But then, I had been too late.
The door to the Guest room had flung open with laughter and bodies pouring out of the room before Ivanka’s quick and vile eyes caught sight of me.
She had caught me standing a short distance away from the door and had immediately concluded that I had been eavesdropping on their conversation… and with that, I knew no excuse in the world would save me from being tortured in the worst way possible today.
And I had been right.
Having my skin tattooed with cruel names that would forever be seen on me was the worst form of torture I could think of.
And the worst part is that I don’t freaking deserve it!
I kept struggling with the he-wolf now but then I was slowly losing that battle. Ozias had his wolf’s strength while I had…
Well, we’ll talk about that later. Right now, I have a piercing problem to deal with— literally.
I remained persistent in my struggle and I groaned as I tied my fingers around his other hand to stop the blade from reaching my skin.
It was really close now and the dread it struck me with was immense— I was shaking in fear. I may be a freaking maid or slave girl but I loved my skin very much and the idea of it being carved upon like a log of wood was pure horror to me.
Unfortunately, I soon started to lose the fight as the tip of the knife pierced into the side of my belly.
I felt my body leaking as Ozias started to slide the blade across my skin to form a letter. I could imagine Ivanka smiling in satisfaction on the side where she stood.
It was time for plan B.
Plan A was to plead in fear and struggle to stop him.
Plan B…
Plan B was a brutal bite to his arm.
And so I bit him— hard.
He was still clenching my hair so I swiveled to the right and bit into the flesh of his hand… I didn’t let go until I tasted blood.
— which meant that I almost bit off that chunk of flesh.
As expected, the he-wolf’s cry filled the room as he bounced around grasping the area I had maimed. He was bleeding badly.
That’ll teach him a lesson.
I spat out the taste of his blood as I watched him. He was practically jumping around and screaming like a Cub— I had turned the monster into a man baby.
It was a really amusing sight to watch and I was almost laughing, but then all my amusement vanished when Ivanka crept into the scene, scowling and heaving with heavy breaths.
I grew uneasy again.
“Get out!” She yelled at Ozias. “You’re useless!” She told him while he cried like his life was about to end.
Once Ozias had thrown himself outside, Ivanka turned her glare to me and I gulped.
Being alone in the same room with Ivanka is the worst thing that can happen to anyone— I say this from past experiences.
“You, wretch!” She threw her claws out and crept closer to me. “You scoundrel!” She dumped a strong slap on my face, sending me crashing to the ground.
I cupped my jaw and realized I was bleeding— her claws had torn me. The Ozias scrote had injured my scalp with his rough grip on my hair and Ivanka’s smacking just added to the pool of my pain as my cheek leaked out blood now.
I was on the ground so I attempted to rise and rest on my knees but then Ivanka sent me back down with a heavy stump to my stomach.
“Stay there you, filthy dog!” She bawled and then she squatted down beside me.
“You know what?” She smiled a bit now with an elated tone.
I don’t like it when she uses that tone or that line or smiles.
“Since your stupid self was so keen on knowing what I was discussing with my girls, I’ll tell you everything.” She said.
“No. No, Ivanka. I don’t want to know anything else. I should never have eavesdropped. I’m sorry! I really am…” I muttered, knowing that this was a dire trap.
“Oh, you’ll have to know.” She giggled wickedly. “So that afterward, I’ll have full cause to punish you however I please.” She let out that last part in a menacing whisper that made her sound very frightening.
I attempted to apologize again but then she held my neck and started choking me.
Normally, my first instinct would be to fight back and free myself, but then there are two limitations to that.
One, Ivanka was the daughter of Alpha Gregor, the alpha of this well-known Hellhole Pack— RawHowl.
Ivanka’s father was the Alpha of RawHowl so if I disrespected her in any way, the consequences would be - let me put it this way - very similar to fatal.
Two, Ivanka was a trained, strong she-wolf who had her wolf, while I was…
Okay, I think I should say it now.
I’m cursed— I’m cursed with my wolf’s rebellion.
I mean, I can’t consciously shift or wolf out. It only happens in rare instances and out of my control.
Strange?
Yeah, there are a lot of strange things about me you don’t know yet, so for now, let’s focus on why I can’t fight Ivanka.
So she’s a full werewolf female while I’m nothing— or worse. Hence, if I attempted an attack on her, I would only be giving her a reason to finally kill me off.
I gasped loudly for air now as Ivanka let go of my throat.
“That’s right!” Ivanka slapped my face again while she laughed. “Gasp for air, you animal!”
I continued my call for oxygen until my lungs could finally work properly but then Ivanka gripped my hair and made me look at her.
“Now, since you were so eager to get a peek into my personal life, let me tell you how my destiny is better than yours will ever be!” She spat at my face and then lowered her volume to induce drama.
“An Alpha will be coming tomorrow to ask for my hand in marriage— this part you probably heard, but what you aren’t aware of is that this Alpha is no ordinary bloke. He’s actually one of the Top War Generals in the Royal Army of the werewolf country— the Reigns, and more importantly, he’s the best friend of the Alpha Prince, Prince Landon. He’ll be coming for a contract marriage with me where my mother would offer him half of the districts of RawHowl for the marriage agreement while I’ll be offered his name and the grace to tap from his high status.” She made a pause as she smiled into space and then she continued dramatically.
“But then once we’re married, things will get even better!” She muttered skittishly. “Give me a few weeks and boom!” She voiced, opening her eyes for more emphasis. “I’ll climb my way up the heights of power and become the most revered female in the entire Canine Reigns while you’ll remain here and rot in your hopelessness as a filthy maid for the rest of your wretched life!” She said and laughed teasefully.
I didn’t really understand what she was saying but I couldn’t help but feel the stinging weight of her words regarding the part about me. Even though I didn’t understand what her words meant, she sounded really optimistic and hopeful and with that same energy, she told me my own fate which was the direct opposite of hers.
And the worst part was that she was right.
Fresh tears streamed out of my eyes now.
Ivanka ridicules me a lot and I’ve never taken her words to heart but something about this new development made me realize how far away I was on the spectrum of hope and happiness.
Nothing good ever happens to me.
And even my biological parents knew this. That’s why they bailed out early on me and abandoned me as a baby in an eerie forest to rot. It was bad fortune— but then I was met with a more cruel fate.
I was found by Ivanka’s father and mother, the Alpha and Luna of this godforsaken Pack.
I would wish for any Cub out there to die from starvation and cold than to be found by Ivanka’s parents because they are ruthless, bloodsucking—
“So with that being said.” Ivanka called my attention back to her as she rose to her feet. “It’s time for your full punishment.”
“Ivanka, please, I’m sorry. I made a mistake.” I pleaded, sitting up to rest on my knees.
As much as I hated giving her the satisfaction for her scorn, I was genuinely scared this time around. She’s beginning to get creative with her torturing method— as minutes ago, I nearly had my skin permanently tattooed with names I despised.
So it’s safe to be scared of what “full punishment” would be.
“Rufus!” She called, turning to face the doorway.
Rufus was Ivanka’s beck-and-call buddy— her personal slave boy, only that to him, they were best friends.
“Yes, Mi berry.” Rufus appeared in the doorway, grinning with his brown rotten teeth.
Ivanka smiled back at him. “How would you like to have sex?” Ivanka asked Rufus and his smile lengthened.
Wait!
Sex? With.. with who?!
I panicked.
No no..
“I will like that very much, Mi berry!” Rufus throated, nodding excitedly in response and Ivanka smiled at his reaction.
My reaction?
I was trembling.
As I had predicted, Ivanka had become more creative with the ‘full punishment’. But that wasn’t totally why I was shaking.
I was shaking because I knew the grim reality of my life here in the RawHowl Pack. Ivanka could do anything she wanted to me and nobody would stop her— because they all hated me. No one likes the orphaned weirdo.
You can nickname me a punching bag if you may and you’ll be very accurate as every Werewolf in this pack sees me as an item to pour their anger on and ease their stress anytime they want.
They all hated me and Ivanka and her parents were at the front of the line on that cause.
“Ivanka.” I muttered, my voice trembling now. “You don’t have to do this! I promise I’ll wash your clothes, I’ll run all your errands, I’ll clean your floorboards— I’ll do anything you want! But please, not this.” I cried, jamming my hands together in my plea.
Ivanka smiled, satisfied with my alarm and uneasiness. “Well, if you’ll do anything I want, then I want you to spread your legs for my boys to grind you tonight.” She said with a wicked tone and smiled at Rufus.
“Oh, it’s this one?” Rufus mouthed, referring to me in his sudden happiness. “Me has been wanting to taste her for a very long time now!” He said with his barbarian accent and licked his lips in a very irritating manner.
I’d rather die than have him inside me!
I turned back to Ivanka who purposely wasn’t looking at me anymore.
“Ivanka, I—”
“Rufus, go call the other boys. Tell them fun is waiting for them in the lower guest room.”
Hiiiiii I hope you liked the first chapter. :)
{Ciril’s POV}For some reason, I was very thankful for yesterday’s turnout. For strange reasons, Rufus didn’t return and Ivanka had grown tired of waiting so she had dismissed me after dumping on me a couple of frustrated slaps and kicks. She postponed my ‘full punishment’ to today. So today, I locked myself in my room in hiding. I couldn’t go out for fear of being seen by Ivanka.Maybe if she didn’t see me, she would forget about me and her quest to punish me.I lived in a crumbling room on the third floor of the Alpha Mansion and my room was shabby enough for living in the forest to be better than it.You would think that of all the houses in RawHowl Pack, I was graced to be staying in the Alpha Mansion. But then, there was really no grace to it. I was only there because Alpha Gregor— the devilish Alpha of RawHowl Pack, his Luna, Dolores, and the rest of their miscreant family wanted to have me very close in case they needed someone to pour out all their hatred on.I was on my bed n
{Ciril’s POV}My mate was engaged in a dialogue with Luna Dolores and Ivanka so none of them had noticed me yet.Impulsively, my legs started to take me towards them while my eyes blissfully rested on this wonder in male form. And this continued until I was close enough to claim their attention. My mate was the first to look at me, and as his gaze met mine, it was pure ecstasy. His eyes were dark brown with softness and his expression was like pink clouds on blue-violet ocean waves. He was handsome. And with his appearance, I figured he was one of the important guests Luna Dolores had been talking about. I was happy with this fact because being a guest meant that he was a he-wolf from another pack far away, one who would take me away from this Hellhole. He wore a blank expression now as he stared at the file he was holding and I motioned to speak to him but Luna Dolores beat me to it. “She’s the one.” Luna Dolores told the Alpha randomly and grew a satisfied smile on her face. What
{Ciril’s POV}I didn’t stop running until my surroundings became virgin to my eyes.I slowed down my pace now and uttered a groan as my heart now seemed to be burning up in my chest. I was far away from the place of my distress but the hurt seemed to have followed me.Luckily, I caught sight of a Pub House on the side of the muddy road and I smiled knowing relief was in there. I could go over there to rest and even better, drown my pain in alcohol.I didn’t know how to drink but that didn’t freaking matter now. That’s where I’ll go! I’ll go over there and drown my sorrows in liquor and Negroni cocktails.I let out a weak smile and began trailing my way toward the Pub. After much staggering and cursing, I finally found myself inside the Pub, seated before the counter. Fortunately, I still had some of the coins Feryt had given me a day before, so I was going to use it to order. All of it!“Hey, can I…” I waved to the Barkeeper, calling his attention to the only miserable girl in the
{Ciril’s POV}The next time I woke up was due to the sensation of light pressing against my eyelids. I pushed them apart and was slowly roaming my gaze around but then I saw a foreign roof, a fan, and a nightstand and my gaze stretched.Huh?I tilted up to rest on my elbows to realize I was on a bed in a strange room. I forced myself off the bed and crept towards the window so that I could at least get an idea of where I was. I had a deadly headache bobbing in my head and it wasn’t helping matters as I moved around.I got to the window and noticed that the surroundings were foreign too. I was suddenly slapped by a gust of wind and its chill on my skin forced me to look down at my body to realize…I gasped. To realize that I was naked. What?!I panicked. How am I naked? My heart started to race— fast.I studied the room in my alarm and it was then that I noticed a figure lying on the bed— the same bed I had gotten up from.My heart skipped two beats with the sight, and impulsively, I
{Ciril’s POV}I had fixed my hair into a braided updo and staring into the mirror now made me realize it was a really dope touch. If I was going to face more torture and gloom, I might as well look presentable for it.Haha.— that was a sad laugh.Suddenly, there was a harsh knock on the door, and with it came an even harsher voice. “Hey, Plonker.” It called and I sighed. “I told my mum that I can’t travel in the same Carriage with your stinking self so Dylan and I will be leaving now in the first one while the next one will be here to pick you up in two minutes. So you better say your goodbyes to your snugly demons in there and haul your unfortunate self out here!” Ivanka voiced with a scornful volume while I just settled to stare at the door.I recalled that Ivanka had told me she would be going to the Palace to live with Dylan after they got married so with what she had just said, I figured that they just have gotten married during the time I was away. Great. As Ivanka left, I c
{Ciril's POV}The air grew quiet. And all the voices around me died down— they died down after the abrupt utterance of the Prince.I gazed at him and it was like it was only the two of us who were in the room now even though it really wasn’t the case. I stared at him and he stared back at me, his soul seeming calling on mine, reaching out to me and prompting me to just run up to him and bury myself in his embrace. It was a powerful and sublime feeling as it seemingly filled the pit of my stomach with all the butterflies in the world— but then it was a feeling I had experienced before— just a few days ago. And from that experience, I knew that it was all a scam. The intense pull was ingenuine because then if it wasn’t, then the Alpha Dylan bastard wouldn’t have rejected Metz But then he had rejected my sorry ass… which meant that the Alpha Prince could…I started backing away now.And in that moment, I roamed my gaze around the room to see the faces of those who lingered around, and
{Ciril's POV}And so as my unfortunate nature would have it, I was bundled up on the shoulder of the sentry who had been mocking me with his smirk and bobbed limply on his shoulder now.As we moved, I thought of how badly my life was going. And worse it was about to become. One question: Why do I have to be paired with people who don’t want me?I thought the moon goddess finds a soul that would match your energy in every aspect and pairs you with them. I thought that’s what she does, so why is my case different? Why am I being paired with people who would want to have nothing to do with someone like me— apparently a slave girl now.I had seen the look on the Prince’s face. He hadn’t been expecting that someone like me could be his mate— and I can’t blame him because it’s really such a weird match. And so this is me once again about to have my heart broken with another curt rejection. Great!I remained still on the Sentry’s shoulder as I ruminated over these thoughts but then, some min
{Ciril's POV}The mate bond is such a strong concept and powerful phenomenon.Hearing the Alpha Prince’s voice sounded like the best sound for my ears and it made me happier than usual, happier than I expected myself to be. If I didn’t control myself, I would have leaped up from my knees, raced through the hall, and flung myself into his embrace, adding a dramatic effect to this our love story. But then, I knew two things for certain; There was no love story, 1. And 2, I wasn’t out of the woods yet. The Alpha Prince could just interfere but only the King, his father, had the final power over what was to be done to me.I wasn’t stupid to not know this, and I knew better now than to be relieved thinking that I was saved by the Prince. I could only hope the King’s decision could be influenced by his son. But then a part of me just could not help but feel comfort and relief that the Prince was here— that my mate was here on my behalf. With the Prince’s presence, all the Council elder
{Ciril’s POV} “Woah.”“Oh my...”Those, among several others, were the comments from Clord and Feryt. It was a few hours past midday and the once-clear clouds had suddenly gone dark… because of me. I was raging as I focused my eyes on these very walls that had caged me with gloom and torment. I was heaving now and as a result, Clord and the others knew that the sky’s fury was my doing— a reflection of my grief and rage. It was thundering loudly now and the wind all around us was beginning to grow wilder. I reveled in the pending ChaosI was about to resume my trail towards the Palace but then a voice stopped me. “Ciril?” The voice said beside me now and I instantly veered my gaze to the side to see Feryt. She trembled slightly with my gaze.“What do we do now?” She asked me. She spoke loudly since the wind was getting more fierce by the second and crowding the silence as a result. The skies thundered again.“Stay here.” I said now with my scowl evident on my face. “Stay here unti
{Ciril’s POV} I didn’t say a word.I didn’t say a word to any of them. All I did was walk, trek, trudge— all of them. And this made us go faster. At the pace we were going, I calculated that we might actually get to the Palace in a day— or not. After some hours of my ignorance and my fast traveling, they stopped me.By they, I mean the democratic bunch— Feryt, Clord, and Gordius. Feryt was their leader or representative this time around and she crept before me to prevent me from moving forward.I scowled at her when she suddenly appeared before me. “Ciril, we need to talk.” She told me. I shifted to the side and slipped past her, continuing onwards but then she was stubborn so that she trailed after me and blocked my trail again.“Ciril, stop! Just stop and listen, okay?!” She said with a stern tone and was immediately joined by Gordius on her right and Clord on her left. As usual, Gordius was annoyingly confident with his old face while Clord looked frightened by me but then th
{Ciril’s POV} “What?”“What?”Anika and I said simultaneously. Her ‘What’ was the first one. I looked at her just as she looked at me, and then we both looked at Gordius who had initiated the confusion.“Oh, I’m going to like this.” Clord said as he sat down on the ground beside one of the Bears. It growled at him so he shifted away to a new position before refocusing his gaze upon us and smiling.I glared at him. “Stand up. I told you we’re not stopping yet.” I said to him and then I turned to Gordius.“For the last time, stop messing with me, Gordius.” I told him and then I looked between Feryt and Anika. “Let’s keep moving.” I said and then turned to continue on my way. “I’m not messing with you, Ciril.” I heard Gordius’ voice again. “This girl right here is the one who will train you.” I halted. And then I spun around and started trudging to him with my bashful intent— I clenched my fist tight. I was done hearing his voice so it was time to shut him up… since he didn’t want to
Chapter 145 {Ciril’s POV} Morning came, and with it a new creed.A vengeful one. I got up with my heart evidently beating— it knew today marked the beginning of something significant. Something chaotic.I sat outside on a log of wood in between the guards of both of my Bears. I sat there motionlessly and waited for the rest to wake up. And eventually, they did. After several minutes, they strolled out simultaneously to see me seated motionlessly with my eyes closed. I was now meditating. I hated the concept but then yesterday had made me realize that it was an important concept and that Gordius was right. My emotions were controlling me and I needed to work on making it the other way round. I need to be the one in control. But then at the end of the day, I didn’t really care that I was being ruled by my emotions since I could still kill my enemies in that State. I only cared now because I didn’t want anything to jinx my fighting over at the Palace since Gordius said that meditati
{Ciril’s POV} I touched the twin half-love-shaped metal bracelets on my wrist now Erin just gave me the most shocking but relieving news. The Hencher Mistress was alive. All this time I had just been hoping— praying that she hadn’t died that day, but then over time, realization started to sink in and I started to welcome the fact that I may have lost her.— since I had recalled how fatal-looking the wound on her belly was, plus she had betrayed the Palace by helping me and I had left her in the hands of those wretches. All these conditions put together didn’t seem like a combination that the Hencher Mistress would survive in her condition and so I had spent frequent nights crying about it and hating myself for leaving her can there that day. … but now it turns out that I had concluded wrongly. All this while, I had grieved and beaten myself up in vain for the Hencher Mistress was alive. My mother was alive.Fresh tears glossed up my eyes now and Anika and the others noticed this a
{Ciril’s POV} “Why?”“What do you mean?”Anika had stopped me with her words and I was staring at her now, wondering why she was asking to go back to the same dreadful place she had just escaped from.“I mean that we have to return to the Palace because it will be a dire matter if we don’t.” She said now, confusing me the more. Clord, Gordius, and Feryt shifted back to our axis now, seeing that we were not trailing after them anymore.“What’s going on?” Feryt asked and I turned to look at her from my dazement. “She says we have to return to the Palace.” I said, still in confusion.“Wait. What?” Clord said now, stepping forward. “You’re joking, right?” He asked her with an odd laugh and when she didn’t respond, he turned to me.“She’s… she’s joking, right?”I returned my attention back to Anika now. “What’s your reason? I don’t understand what you’re saying, Anika.” I said to her now. “What dire matter are you referring to?”I spoke rather calmly now, and I did so because I didn’t wan
{Ciril’s POV} “Ciril, is that you?”I heard Anika’s voice and almost couldn’t believe it was her voice. It had been so long since I heard her speak. All of us were shocked by her sudden consciousness as we had really lost all hope. I had already lost hope.— all of us had lost hope except Gordius. He didn’t look shocked, and this was because he had trusted his words to the final minute, unlike the rest of us. The rest of us stopped believing him when hours were slipping past and Anika wasn’t responding. But then again, you can’t blame us for not buying his words. I personally had a beef with him and feel like he just says anything he wants to say. I focused my attention on Anika now as she slowly grew back her consciousness.“It’s me, Anika. I’m.. I’m here.” I told her softly now and she blinked before thoroughly focusing her gaze on me.With our eye contact, the roles switched— as she was the one who looked shocked now. She gazed at my face for a while and I noticed that she was
Chapter 142{Ciril’s POV} I didn’t understand what had just happened. One second, I was raging at Gordius for chewing loudly, and then the next, I was shocked from spotting a figure that bore an oddly familiar face. Anika.I didn’t know where she had appeared from and I didn’t know how she had found me, but then these questions weren’t important now. Anika was wounded and unconscious and so the question bobbing in my head as I rushed towards her was, “What I was going to do?”I crashed on the ground beside her body and drew her into my embrace with my heart now racing fast. I didn’t know the answer to my question.I didn’t know what to do. I first had to accept the fact that she was truly here with me and once this fact had settled in, I started to shake her up roughly and call her name.— and while I did this, Gordius was just standing behind me and doing nothing. I noticed this. “What are you doing?!” I bawled at him now. “She’s dying! Go get help!” I roared at him as tears gl
{Ciril’s POV} And so, with sublime anticipation and creed, I began my training… which was meditating.Crazy right?Of course, it’s crazy. Why should I be meditating when I can be doing other things that would help refine my skills? And even more seriously, what’s the fucking point?Gordius had said that I would also have the power to heal people of life-threatening wounds if meditated but never have heard that such abilities could be gained by sitting on grass all day. I should be sharpening my skills with intense training but instead, it felt like I was making them grow dull as I was basically sitting on my ass all day every day since we started. The most annoying part was that Gordius didn’t give a fuck about my concerns. I had complained to him a couple of times to communicate to him how closing my eyes and sitting my ass on grass with my legs folded wasn’t helping me achieve anything but he didn’t care to respond to my complaints. All he did was command me to meditate and then
