Theressa's POV

"You're my mate."

What?

I didn't know what to say. Today felt like the craziest day that had ever happened in my life.

Lyon, the cold transfer student who was popular and the object of desire for many girls, suddenly came to my house, took me out for dinner, and brought me to the edge of the lake to talk about something I couldn't comprehend.

"I'm sorry, Lyon, but I don't understand. What do you mean? I'm your mate? Are you trying to confess your love to me?"

"No."

"Then, what?"

His cold expression made me feel cornered. Annoying.

"I hope you're someone I can trust to keep my identity. I'm a werewolf, and you're my mate who will become my Luna. I'm an Alpha from the Black Fire pack."

I was speechless.

Werewolf? How could such imaginary creatures exist in the modern world like this?

"Well, Lyon, I don't know if you're a guy who likes to joke. I thought you--"

"I'm not joking, Theressa."

"KYAA!"

I was startled to see Lyon suddenly transform into a large gray wolf. I wasn't dreaming; he changed. This was insane.

"See? I'm not lying. In our world, every Alpha has a mate destined by the Moon Goddess. Usually, our mates are fellow werewolves. However, this peculiarity happened to me. I got you, an ordinary human."

The moonlight illuminated Lyon's face. My heart skipped a beat; I could see Lyon's attractive side for the first time. Until now, I admit I had never been interested when my friends talked about Lyon's fame and handsomeness.

It could be because I was still amazed by his transformation into a wolf earlier. This was the first time I saw something like this happening in real life, not just in Twilight. He's literally Jacob Black, lol.

"Okay, so what should I do? I still can't fully digest this. I hope you understand; it feels like a dream to me."

"You don't have to do anything. You need to answer whether you accept this reality or reject it. You have to answer now. Since I transferred, I wanted to tell you immediately. But you were still in a relationship with Brian. I didn't want to be the new student who ruined someone else's love just like that."

I swallowed my saliva. Why did he give me such a difficult choice? What reason did I have to accept it? I didn't even have feelings for Lyon. My heart was just broken because of the breakup with Brian.

"Why are you smiling? What are you thinking, Theressa?"

"Ah, nothing. This is still something ridiculous to me. Here's the thing, I can't confirm what you said tonight. But we can become close friends first. You and I have not spoken since you moved three months ago, Lyon. I need to get to know you. Especially since you're a werewolf, I need to understand your world."

"Makes sense. I'll consider that you accepted me. Tomorrow, I'll take you to my pack. We'll go after school. Starting tomorrow, you'll go with me."

Okay, if I were my friends who yearned for Lyon, I would scream and feel ecstatic hearing this statement. Unfortunately, I was just Theressa, who wasn't interested in anything except knowledge books.

"I understand what you mean, Lyon. But you still did all of this suddenly. You know, whatever. Can we go home now? There's nothing else you want to talk about, right?

"Yeah. Remember, don't talk to anyone about the changes I showed you earlier."

I nodded; besides, who should I tell this story to? Even if someone hears it, they'll think I'm crazy. We moved from the lake's edge towards the car, but the ground where I stood now was slippery and caused me to lose my balance.

"KYAA!"

Another unfortunate thing I never expected happened; I fell into the lake. I can't swim!

"Lyon, help me!"

The cold lake water made my chest hurt. In just a moment, I felt weak, and my legs were cramping.

My thoughts wandered far, imagining how it would all end tragically. Luckily, my fears didn't come true. Lyon came to rescue me. Yes, his embrace brought me to the lake's shore.

My body lay on the ground, Lyon's handsome face looking at me coldly.

"Thanks," I said.

"Like I said, I've become a part of your life. Whatever happens, you don't need to be afraid. I'll always be there."

Lyon lifted my body. My still weak condition made me wrap my arms around his neck, surrendering myself. Lyon's body scent was so strong, providing both calmness and restlessness.

"I think you still have enough power to move. Change your clothes, and wear my jacket and pants. The distance from this lake to your house is quite far. Half an hour in the car with the air conditioning on can make you cold."

Lyon closed the door and moved away from the car. I quickly changed my clothes. Whether it was because of the rescue drama or my heart starting to be attracted to him, I felt that vibration growing stronger. Especially when his jacket and pants wrapped around my body, I felt like Lyon was embracing me.

Warm and comforting.

"I'm done, Lyon."

I got out of the backseat and moved to the front. Moments before entering the car, Lyon and I exchanged glances. With the inevitable thunderous pounding in my heart, his gaze felt like a thousand knives piercing me.

"What's wrong?"

I was startled and shook my head. I quickly got into the car and focused on avoiding Lyon's charm. Yes, I must not do that.
