I stared out my side of the window for the rest of the ride.

Enjoying the wind on my face and trying to make a conversation with my wolf which proved futile.

I know she’s hurt just like I am and her silence is her way of dealing with it.

She needs time when processing her emotions while I just face them head on before pushing them to the back of my mind if need be.

I knew my wolf well and she was in perfect sync with me because after my first shift, I took time to know her and let her grow and explore at her own pace.

I ushered her into my life to the latter just like she did with me and that makes us both a formidable foe.

I let her be after I realize she just wanted to be alone and focused on getting home.

I didn’t have to wait long because Matthews pulled up onto my mother’s compound before I could even nag him about how long till we get there.

As usual, my mother and brothers stood in front of our home waiting for our arrival.

The patrol teams at the border always alerte

The car ride back was a rather tense one because Matthews was afraid of what Kiara might think of him when Chaos tells her what was wrong. Kiara was worried that someone had done something to Chaos and was scared because should Chaos decide to pay him or her back, all hell would break loose. Chaos was lost in her thoughts thinking of all the ways she could make Alpha River suffer without killing him. This continued till Kiara couldn’t take it anymore. Turning in her seat at the front, she asked softly;“What is wrong Kay?”“My mate has a lover” Chaos replied bluntly causing Kiara to gasp and Matthews to flinch“What! How?” Kiara asked confused“Well I walked in on them the second day I arrived. Discussing whether they were going to quit their ongoing relationship or not. They decided not to quit and my mate’s lover, Tricia said what I didn’t know won’t hurt me. But too bad I know and now I’m going to hurt them”“She… she said that?” Matthews asked with surprise as he was hearing

Alpha River’s P.O.V I walked into our bedroom only to find my mate’s clothes scattered around the room. With a chuckle, I bent down and picked them up. I deposited them into the laundry basket and that was when I heard the shower going on in the bathroom. Grabbing my clothes, boxers and shoes I walked out of the room and into the one adjacent to ours to take a quick shower. I was done showering and dressed in a couple of minutes. I walked out to go talk to my mate only to be met with a smiling Tricia. She’s the only woman I have bedded and still wanted around. I care deeply for her and I know I was developing feelings for her. I had given myself a year that if I still didn’t find my mate, I would choose her. But then luck was not on our side because I went for an alliance meeting only to return with a mate I never dreamt of. I felt the power of the mate bond as soon as we made human contact but I guess I would have to find a solution to this problem. Flashing Tricia a smile in

Still Alpha River’s P.O.VMy mate thoroughly answered all the questions she was asked without interruptions till she got to the part where she let us know that she was going to train them herself and isn’t going to go easy on them because her mother didn’t. The beautiful young lady that she had entered the room with cut her off and called her a sadistic bitch. I was about to growl in warning at her blatant disrespect when my mate looked in her direction and chuckled before telling the lady she won’t be Chaos without being the sadistic bitch that lady said she was. And then went on further to playfully scold her. For trying to act like a saint when she was just a step behind her. My men and I watched in fascination and worry at the familiar friendliness between these two ladies and how they were at ease throwing jibes at each other even in our presence. When I had had enough, I asked my mate who the lady was and I guess that was my mistake. Because my mate looked

Today was the day of the mating ceremony and to say the pack was just happy will be an understatement. They were elated and overjoyed because an alpha’s mating ceremony happens just once and the blessings that rains on them on that particular day left remarkable prints and impacts on their lives for the rest of their existence. Alpha River was in higher spirits himself and couldn’t help but celebrate in his own way. He spent the majority of the day with his high-ranked members and friends in the conference room, making merry and reminiscing over old times. Chaos stayed locked up in her room trying to avoid anyone as much as she could whiles Kiara stayed with Uncle Hephaestus who had already started on her new home. A smile still found its way onto her face when she remembers the call, he had given her as soon as he had left the pack. His precise words had been;“Princess, am sorry you are mated to that jerk. I don’t even know why your father isn’t doing anything about it. I honest

It pays to close your eyes for a moment and pretend the world and it problems does not exist. Because then, life becomes a lot more bearable…Gregory allowed them to cheer to their hearts content before leading us to the end of the huge makeshift stage and that was when I saw the smaller and shorter makeshift platform behind it. It wasn’t the fact that it was there that surprised me but the way it had been presented. In actual sense, it looked like a bed. A large four poster bed with sheer curtains surrounding it. It had what looked like rose petals scattered all over the pillows and the bedding. But I was comforted by the fact that, the actual bed wasn’t visible to the eyes of everyone. The huge makeshift stage did a wonderful job of covering it to the exigent that only the curtains and the canopy of the bed could be seen. The little privacy was much appreciated. Wolf whistles and chuckles rang throughout the gathering as we all knew what was next. The event I drea

I was panting hard and so was my mate. I peeked under my lashes and swallowed hard when I caught sight of my mate’s pulsing member. Only it wasn’t pulsing but raging hard. It had grown a lot more than when I first saw it and its head was almost purple with thick veins sticking out around it. It was leaking and my horny wolf wouldn’t stop purring at the sight. To be honest, it looked impressively intimidating and I swear, it hung like a horse. I couldn’t stop staring at it or the gasp that let my lips when it kept twitching under my gaze. It was so going to tear me apart, I thought or not so much because my mate responded next“It will tear you apart but in a good way” he said hoarsely“I said that aloud?” I asked in a small voice“Yes, you did” he said smugly Before I could retort, his fingers twisted inside me before redrawing. I whined at the emptiness that followed after. But I didn’t have time to keep whining because my mate’s lips descended down on mine wit

Chaos’s P.O.V I woke up to the pressing pressure on my bladder. I woke up in a haste to relief myself only to be stopped by an arm wrapped tightly around my waist. With extreme carefulness, I managed to free myself and replace my body with my pillow to prevent my mate from waking up and accompanying me to the washroom. The walk to the washroom was not an easy feat because my legs felt like jelly and I feel like my insides have been torn into shreds. I was sore and not the minimal kind of sore. Though it was a good kind of sore, it still hurt. I go to the washroom and quickly do my business before going back to bed. I needed it for my part of the mating ceremony tonight when the moon was at its highest peak. This ritual has been in my birth pack for generations and no matter your status in the pack, it will be held for anyone joining the pack or during his or her mating ceremony. It is only performed on a full moon because it is believed to be the moment when the

STILL CHAOS’ POVWe walked towards the compound where the moon was at its highest and that was when the ceremony started. The music stopped and then my mother started barking out orders on how she wanted us to be seated. I and my mate walked to the very front and after shedding my robe, I sat down gently on the ground and watched as my mate followed. Kiara and Matthews sat horizontal to us on the right with Jeremiah and Estefania on the left. The rest of the mated couples filled in the spaces as well as their kids till a circle was created around us. This process went on till the whole grounds was covered. My mother delivered the customary speech and then walked every one through what was about to take place. A knife was handed out to my mate and after he made a cut on both his palms, he handed it to me. I cut my palms too before passing it on. I joined my left palm to his and the right on to Kiara’s and it went on till the last wolf. One could feel the new bond that was form

“The damned were a pack of people that made up a rather small town in the far East some 700 years ago. They were simple people who farmed and hunted for a living. They were so disconnected from the world that they gave naive a whole new meaning. They trusted too quickly and took people for face value. You could tell them you have never committed a crime before with blood on your hands and they would believe you. And that is how they became a town of refuge for so many murderers, thieves and monsters of every kind. The outside world changed the town's name from Serenity to the Damned Naive or the Damned for short. They were a total of 10,632 individuals women and children not included. So you said you sacrificed all these people Felecia?? I am not sure monster is a sufficient name for the kind of person you are" The councilman narrated with fury burning deep within his eyes The first person she looked at was Gregory and you could practically hear his heart breaking from w

You will be severely punished should you interfere. The court of the realms and beyond is no joking grounds. Let the hearing proceed and may the odds be in your favour. And may Justice be served..." "To start with, Tricia Bennet, please step forward" Another council man read out loud We all watched as Tricia bravely made her way through the crowd to the front but we could all smell her fear. I don't blame her. My father and his brothers made an intimidating sight seeing as they were all pairs of twins and looked very much alike. You had to really know them to be able to tell the difference. And right now, with the way they were seated it was like looking at the sa

FINAL DAY OF THE AWAKENING Chaos’s P.O.V I was awoken by the beating of drums and the echoes of a chant you rarely heard even back in our home realm. A chant that was as old as time itself. I turned to find Xavier leaning against the headboard with his eyes squeezed shut. My heart broke for my little boy. He didn’t deserve what happened to him either but we were both victims of the harsh reality that is life. The balance of the world had to remain intact no matter what and that is why consequences came with manipulating it. Consequences that were a touch to harsh but that is the way of life. Repositioning myself, I lifted him into my arms and cuddled him tightly to my chest. I turned to find his father sound asleep and I could only sigh to dispel the rage that was bubbling beneath the surface. Dropping a kiss on Xavier’s forehead, I whispered quietly’ “I am so sorry my little warrior” “I know Mama” he replied hoarsely We held on tightly to each other as the tempo of the

CHAOS’ POV I let my mind wander back to all that has happened today, the unending catching up and what not. In as much as it felt good to be alive, it didn’t help that this place awakened bad memories for me and to make matters worse, my innocent son, okay my semi-innocent son Xavier was here in this infested pack. I was leaving him back home but my son refused to part ways with me since the day he was born and in as much as it is endearing, it is also a major pain in the ass sometimes and especially in cases like this. He wanted to get to see and know his father and for the life of me, I could not deny him that. So here we are, in this darned pack. A pack that owes me blood. A pack that has awakened a bloodlust in me. One I thought I had buried for so many years now. The very same pack that I am an alpha of. Fate really has a twisted sense of humor. If it were up to my choices, this awakening wouldn’t have happened. I could have happy remained dead to this pack

Fat tears rolled down my face as I watched the large phoenix transform into a woman, I knew too well yet looked so different. With hair as white as snow and a flawless skin that looked sun-kissed and eyes as dark as the night. I watched as she got clothed in the finest drapes of cloth whiles our gaze met and held. The warm smile on her face had my wolf howling in my head for the first time in ages and that was when it crossed my mind to check her neck for our mating mark. I wasn’t really surprised when I set my sights on the unmarked skin of her flawless neck even though it broke my already fragile heart and had my poor wolf whimpering in the back of my mind. The tears didn’t stop when she shifted a little to reveal a little boy who had been hiding behind her. My knees gave out and I landed on my knees with a hard thud because the little boy who stood regal with a cute scowl on his face with his jet-black hair in a little man bun, with no shirt on and low riding leather pan

STILL IN ALPHA RIVER’S POV I don’t know how long I stood staring at the phoenix until I got distracted by the sound of leaves ruffling in the trees nearby. I only had to blink and the phoenix was gone. I had this boiling urgency to search for it and I did until I stumbled upon a small girl with red eyes about the age of 5-6 years. I sighed knowing very well where she was from. Getting down on knees, I asked her softly; “Hey honey, what are you doing out here alone?” No answer “Where is your mum and dad?” No answer “How can I help you if you won’t talk to me?” “I don’t need your help” she whispered “Ooh she talks!” I exclaimed sarcastically I couldn’t help the smile that graced my face when she let out a series of cute giggles. “Of course, I can talk silly” she replied snootily “So why then didn’t you answer me” I questioned curiously “Because I didn’t want to…” she replied with a sassy roll of her eye. Can you believe this child? I thought wistfully.

The day of the quarter moon Alpha River’s P.O.V The day I have been waiting for was finally here. It has not been easy these past three weeks. Searching for leads and finding none. Finding some only for it to lead to a dead end. In as much as I had wanted to give up I couldn’t. I had made a promise and I was hell bent on keeping it. Over the past weeks, Kaeden has been quiet. Quiet in the sense that his low whimpers and growls have even stopped. It must have been my wild sense of imagination but I could swear that I felt something moving around the house. Strangely enough, that presence sent tingles and goose bumps all over my body whenever I felt it around. I wish I could talk to someone around it but I buried that thought. They were all walking on egg shells around me since they found out that my wolf and I were probably going rouge. I didn’t need then thinking I was delusional and need to be detained in a Psych ward. The ever-growing pack work kept me occupied

Tricia's P.O.V I can't believe my Jay threw me out. He acted as if my presence alone upset him. I understand his mate's death was taking a toll on him but I only wanted to offer my condolences in the only way I knew best. The bitch was dead and she still had a hold on my Jay. But she left her side bitch Kiara and I feel as if she knows something I don't. Maybe I should have had her killed along with her so called alpha. I had only taken two steps towards the door of my little house when I bumped into Felecia who looked like she has been crying for days unend. "What is wrong mum?" I questioned "Everything is wrong my dear. Everything" she answered hoarsely "What do you mean by everything? The Luna of this pack died. It is horrible I get it but that doesn't mean this pack has to die with her. I mean the Luna of this pack can always be replaced" "Don't talk like that Tricia Bennett! This is blasphemous. What has gotten into you child?" "What!! I was just stating facts."

Still Alpha River's P.O.V I woke up to the sun blaring on my face. I had this weird ass dream that my mate was dead. Getting up, I stretched and looked around. I was in my room. How did I get here? Who changed me? What happened yesterday? I stood from my room and shivered at the cold air that seem to be constantly moving on and around my body. I headed for the bathroom and after taking a well-deserved hot bath, I walked out and into my walk-in closet. I spared a quick glance at my reflection in a mirror and that was when it hit me. The absence of my mating mark was the wakeup call. I fell on my knees since my knees were too weak to hold me up. It was not some weird ass dream. It was my painful reality. I stayed on my knees crying until there were no more tears. I still can't believe my mate was gone. My Chaos. After no more tears trailed down my face, I got back on my feet and robotically got dressed. I felt numb. I hurried with making myself look presentable because
