Once upon a time is a cliche easy start to start a love story of a CEO falling for a girl but here we are...Today I’m getting married to the CEO who is known for his bad reputation, but for me, he’s the saint in disguise. And I couldn't believe I’m getting married to that guy with a bad reputation. Who is a little bit older than me, and has insatiable habits regardless of this I fell head over heels. Anyway, let’s start with the beginning.
(Three years EARLIER)
“Cassandra Williams” The Dean of the university announced my name, his strong English accent present and intimidating. I got up, smiling, I went towards the stage, my last name starts with W so like always I’m one of the last ones up. I approached the stage, ascending the three stairs successfully, I accepted my graduation certificate and the handshake offered. I then heard cheering and wolf whistles from the back of the room and I knew it was my imbecile big brother.
I had waited four years for this moment, living in a small campus dorm, late study nights, exam after exam, it's all been worth it though, for this moment. I graduated with top honors in my degree, hoping to pursue a career in architecture and design. As I get off the stage me and my best friend Cindy hug each other and smile brightly.
“We did it, Cassandra!” Cindy smiled.
“London here we come” I smiled back. I and Cindy have been roommates for the last three years. Cindy is two years older with Blonde curly hair, blue eyes, and a deep tan, one would mistake her for an Australian beauty. Cindy started her degree later than me due to having a two-year gap year.
After my first roommate got expelled from the campus for inappropriate behavior, Cindy and I were assigned together. Cindy is straight but doesn’t have a boyfriend, she majored in design like me, however, she's more into computer design. Both of us decided we would move to London together, live in an apartment that's been paid for in full by Cindy’s parents, for her graduation present and pursue our new careers. I was opting to pay rent to Cindy as a condition of living together though. After a few harmless fights, Cindy decided she’d never win and gave in to my request.
“There she is, Come on Kid where’s our hugs,” My older brother Aaron says as he came up behind me and Cindy. I smiled and turned around hugging my brother excitedly.
“We are so proud of you kiddo,” Aaron said letting me go.
“Okay, my turn,” Izan said, coming up to get his hug.
“Save the best for last huh” Aiden says cheekily as he hugged me tightly. They all congratulated Cindy and ruffled my' hair proudly.
I have grown up as the youngest in my family, my parents died seven years ago when I was 14, in a car crash. I nearly lost my life too, but I survived and my brothers raised me for three years before I left for university.
Aiden is the oldest, he's 31, a full-time surgeon at a private hospital, he's tall, muscly, intimidating, and high class. With brown hair and grey eyes he looks like he’d break you in a second, he's cold towards most people but not with me or my brothers and especially not his wife. Aiden is married to an amazing woman Tamara and they live in Manchester, where I was raised.
Izan is 29, a top high profile Lawyer, he's still single but isn't looking to settle down. Izan is The fun one, always up for a good time and party. He's also tall, intimidating, has brown hair and brown eyes, he's extremely good looking and has girls falling at his feet.
Aaron comes next at 27, he's a police officer and loves his job immensely, he has a steady girlfriend, Emma. The tall genes didn't skip Aaron either, he’s the blonde of the family though with grey eyes.
I’m the youngest at 21, I have brown hair, blue eyes like my mum, and have the most gorgeous cheekbones that are all I hear from Cindy. I, unfortunately, didn't get the height gene and am short, skinny, and just tiny in all senses of the word...
We all live within 15 minutes of each other and every Sunday we have a family dinner at Aiden and Tamara’s. We are all wealthy and live extremely comfortably, I never asked for anything though, and work part-time at a coffee shop. My brothers paid for my tuition but I wanted to make it myself. I turned down their offer of an apartment overlooking Manchester while I studied and opted for a dorm, I wanted to earn my own money and to pay my way. Including paying my brothers back weekly for my tuition.
Cindy however, has extremely well-off parents, more than my brother's incomes combined. Cindy, unlike me, was forced to the dorm to try and get some “normality” into her life, which is what her mother had told him. Cindy likes to throw her money around, she likes lavish things and showing her wealth off. I prefer to live the simple life though, not caring about such things, I had a bit of a tough time growing up and money doesn't mean so much to me.
“We’re so proud of you, Cassandra,” Aiden said as he lets me go.
“Thanks, Aiden,” I said smiling.
“Mum and Dad would have been so proud, girl,” Izan said I smiled in response, I loved my parents so much and I know they would be looking down on me smiling right now.
“Thanks,” I said...
“Alright, I've got to get back to work kid I'm sorry, we will see you Sunday night for dinner?” Aiden then says, his features were sympathetic towards me, knowing my brothers are meant to stay for a while and mingle. They couldn't get much time off work though and I’m just thankful they could come at all.
“Yeah, Sunday night” I nodded...
“You guys celebrating tonight?” Izan asked knowingly.
“We may have a few parties to attend” Cindy Smirked out.
“Be safe Cassandra. You know the rules” Aiden said.
I nodded my head in understanding. Ever since the accident, my brothers have been extremely overprotective, they tend to be quite annoying sometimes but I tolerated it, knowing how much my recovery took its toll on the family, knowing they stopped their lives to raising me for three years, knowing I owe them so much.
“Good Girl,” Aiden said.
“Cindy,” Izan said matter of factly.
“Guys, I've got her, you know I’ll look after her, I've never let anything happen to her before”
Cindy says smiling reassuringly. My brothers nodded in response, relaxing a little.
“Call us, we are ten minutes away if you need us,” Aiden said.
I and Cindy nodded and we all share hugs of goodbye. Cindy turned to me then.
“Alright, let's get my parents out of the way, then we can ditch these awful gowns and get ready for tonight,” Cindy exclaimed excitedly.
I giggled and we spend the next part of an hour mingling with Cindy’s parents and her two older sisters who adore me to pieces.
“So Cassandra, no boyfriend to report yet?” Cindy’s Sister Amy asked me, cheekily, she always hounds me about my love life, she always wants to set me up with one guy or another.
“Yeah Kiddo, Boys must be falling at your feet, you’re a catch Cassandra,” Cindy’s other sister Lucy said smiling.
I smiled back but rolls my eyes playfully. I’ve been with a guy or so but nothing serious, I was after love and a long-term relationship and I found out quickly that most guys are only after one thing and they will say and do anything to get it.
“They ARE all falling at her feet, Cassandra just has standards, don't you Sweetums,” Cindy said smiling hugging me to her side.
“I do, and I haven't found the right person yet,” I confirmed.
“Well, maybe things will change in London when you start your new job,” Lucy said.
“Hopefully, But then I’ll probably be too busy for a relationship” I laughed.
They all smiled and go back to talking about work and money, I was running out a little, I was getting a little restless and my gown is so hot, I needed a drink of some sort.
“I'm just going to get a drink of water,” I told Cindy who nodded, I excuse myself and make my way through the mingling crowd.
This year's Graduation was presented in the main hall but the after celebrations have been set up on the lawn under marquees. It’s nice, but it's a rare hot spring day and the sun is actually shining, the heat getting to me a little. I reach the bar that's set up under the marquees and ask the bartender for a bottle of water, I get a huge grin and a wink in response and then a cold bottle of water. I blushed and walked away insecurely, I was used to people ogling me but it never gets easy to deal with.
I guzzled the contents of the bottle before I throw it out and start making my way back over towards the exit, I just need some air. As I step out of the marquee though I collide straight into a hard chest. I stumbled backward, but before I hit the ground there is a hand on my waist and a sultry voice in my ear.
“Woah, easy there,” The deep voice says, slightly scolding.
“I'm so sorry, I wasn't watching where I was going” I rambled before I was looking at the very tall, extremely attractive man in a suit, who is still holding me tightly around the waist. The gorgeous man smirks and I know I was staring but I can't help it, this man is so handsome. His bright green eyes stare into my blue ones, I can't seem to talk, for some reason, taking in every ounce of detail of this man. His short hair styled perfectly into a quiff, little tuffs of curls sitting at the nape of his neck, his strong muscled physique holding me tightly, I can see the outline of a few tattoos on his chest, peeking out of his white shirt. he's dressed impeccably and I know he comes from money.
I seemed to get a spark shoot up my spine as the man's hands glided down my back, steading me and pulling me up straight, the man's eyes furrowed in confusion like he just felt the same weird thing.
“It's um...fine... just be careful next time,” The man says sternly, still staring intently at me. I nodded and blushed under the intense gaze.
“Mr. Santorum ?” A man I hadn't noticed before asks from behind the gorgeous god.
Mr. Santorum turns to the man, nods, and looks back towards me intently.
“Are you okay?” He asks then, letting me go, I feel cold as the hands leave my body.
I was a little taken aback by the question and when I manage to make my lungs work and
breathe properly, I answered.
“Yes, ugh, sorry... I'm fine” I replied awkwardly.
Mr. Santorum nodded and begins to walk away, he has a look of confusion on his face though, and looked back several times looking intently at me before he disappears into the crowd. I shake myself out of whatever that was, whatever that foreign feeling was, I feel light and fuzzy, I was definitely attracted to that man, which, I have never really been towards anyone before.
I began to make my way back to Cindy. “There you are, I was worried,” Cindy said as she saw me approaching.
“Sorry, got caught up,” I said.
Cindy eyes me warily. “You look funny, what happened?” Cindy asked.
“No Nothing, I’ll explain later” I assured my friend.
“Okay, let's get out of here. Hey, I'm hot and bored ” Cindy said and I laughed. We say goodbye to Cindy’s parents and leave to head back to our dorm, her eyes were on me the whole time.
~CASSANDRA WILLIAMS ~ When we made it back to our Dorm we stripped down and began to get ready, I didn't really have much to wear, in my whole time at University I never really had time to go out so I am not used to the party scene. It’s also one of the things my brothers made as a condition of me going to uni alone, no wild parties, and no drinking excessively. I was fine with that though, preferring to study and learn. Cindy on the other hand loves a good party and dressing up. She has a flair for fashion. “So Cassandra, you going to tell me what happened when you wandered off today?” Cindy asked as we ate roman noodles for dinner on the couch, that's as far as both of our culinary skills go.
~ CASSANDRA WILLIAMS ~ I walked the 25 minutes to the coffee shop, I felt awful but that will serve me right for drinking I suppose. it's cool out and I wish I'd brought my jacket. I had worked at the Cafe for three years, the two girls who own the shop are lovely and are really good to me, I enjoyed working there, it's always so busy though, which makes the day go faster. My job was to serve the customers and put orders in. I'm glad I don't have to make the food or coffee, I’m terrible at it. It’s my last shift today and it will be a bitter-sweet one. “There she is, Miss Graduate,” Alice says smiling as I enter the back room behind the counter. I smiled in response.
~ CASSANDRA~I was so upset about what happened back in Michael’s penthouse that I nearly lived like a sloth for two days in my brother’s house. Yes, I’m in my brother’s home, the last thing I wanted on this earth because we need to vacant the dorm in which I was living with Cindy. We had planned to directly take a flight to London on the same day we would leave the dorm so that we would not have to run back to our houses like rats. But because of that idiot Michale I ruined my mood and ended up refusing Cindy to take a flight with her to London. Thanks to god she didn’t ask me anything, however, she told me to meet her in the apartment which her parents had given her as the graduation present which you guys already know about, right? We had planned everything but at the last moment I ditched, I know she might be cursing at me, and yeah I deserve it for dit
~ CASSANDRA~ <AFTER A WEEK> It’s been a week and I’ve settled down in London without having any contact with that idiot Michale Santorum and If I say it honestly I’m really liking this place. And my brother has come to meet me here and now we are having breakfast together. “So Cassy, I had an interesting call last night” Izan pipes up. “Oh,” I asked, ``please don't have anything to do with Michale,” I prayed inwardly... “Yeah, Michale Santorum, he’s one of my clients,” Izan said. “Great,” I mumbled as I could see where this conversation was heading, I sighed and leaned back in my chair. “What did he wa
~ MICHAEL~I watched her go and felt my heart aching, how did I manage to fuck that up. I hit the side ofthe car door in frustration.“Michael?” my guard Robert asks from the front seat as he opens the partition.“Put someone on watch” I ordered him still with my eyes on where Cassandra walked away, Robert Nods, and went to make a call as he drove off towards my apartment. I put the partition up in the car again and took out my phone. He dials my brother's number and he picks up on the third ring.“Hey Mike, you okay?” Eren asks as he answers.Eren is my older brother, he’s married with two daughters and I adore them.
“Not a smart idea to argue sweetheart, see you in twenty,” Michael said and hung up on me before I could say anything. I looked at my phone surprised, I can't deny I like it when Michael calls me those pet names when he asserts his dominance. I sigh, I decided to get up and dress in black skinny jeans, a red sweater, and put my shoes on my feet. I grabbed my side purse and put it sideways on my neck and phone and made my way into the Lounge. Cindy has a friend from work over and they are laughing over something, whilst drinking wine.“Cass?” Cindy said her friend Logan Looked at me and I didn’t miss how his eyes linger.“I'm just going out for a while,” I said.“Huh, where to, with who?’ Cindy asked, giving me the third degree.
~ AUTHOR'S POV~Cassandra wakes in a panic, a bad dream, she always has them when she's stressed out or getting sick. She is disorientated and doesn't know where she is, she's never seen this room before. Michael is on alert and wakes by the sound of Cassandra crying out, he rushes in instantly and sees Cassandra sitting up in bed struggling for breath, she's sweaty and Michael can tell she's had a bad dream.Cassandra relaxes a little when she sees Michael barge into the room, of course, she's at Michael’s, she tries her hardest to calm herself down.“Cassandra, hey, sweetheart you're okay,” Michael says worriedly. He's over at Cassandra’s side in an instant, wiping her sweaty fringe off her forehead.
~ AUTHOR’S POINT OF VIEW~Cassandra feels like a ton of bricks has fallen on top of her when she and Michael enter her apartment just after lunch. Cindy approaches her instantly, checking Cassandra over for any sign of anything untoward. Michael watches on fondly.“I'm fine,” Cassandra says, pushing Cindy off.“Really?” Cindy asks as she walks to the kitchen counter, picks up three gossip magazines, and hands them to her.“What the fuck” Cassandra panics. Michael is at her side instantly.“Michael” Cassandra looks at him almost desperate.Cassandra and Michael are all over the magazines, Cassandra's identity, location, what she
"Sit down," he said as he sat down.I nodded sitting across from him.He typed something on his phone and then opened a drawer from his big desk, which I couldn't stop admiring, it was a folder with a couple of papers in them."Did you enjoy dinner last night?" he asked reading through the papers.I nodded "Yes, it was delicious."He hummed in response "After breakfast I want you to shower and get ready, we are going to the city."I frowned "What city?""somewhere where no one knows you," he said before sighing."O-okay" I stuttered scratching my wrist. When he finished reading the papers in front of him someone knocked on the door and he pressed something on the screen of his phone to open it. "Good morning," he said greeting the old man."Daniel," the old man said setting down the big tray betwe
~ CASSANDRA'S POINT OF VIEW~I shook my head no "Never." and lied cause I don't know how much Daniel has told them about me.She rose an eyebrow "That's odd, I mean, you're gorgeous that's why I find it rare."The subject is one that I hate so I stayed quiet looking at my toes, after a few seconds Davina walked to the pool and sat at the edge. I took my flip-flops off and then the dress, I hugged myself as I walked to the edge because I've never felt beautiful. I stepped in the water carefully, it was warm and comfortable, Laurent swam to me with the biggest smile I've ever seen."Auntie Cassandra!" she wrapped her arms around my neck and legs around my waist.I smiled feeling her small warmth "You're so cute.""I know," she smiled bigger resting her head on my shoulder. She has more confidence than me.We spent a couple of hours in the pool but Davina never got in, she said she just got her hair done and if she got in th
~CASSANDRA'S POINT OF VIEW~"Yeah, he was the person who runs into your parent's car which causes them to lose their lives. He got into an accident on the same day as your parents. He got into an Accident with your parents' car. It was the same day I and you lost our family in the same god fucking damn hospital. While that bastard survived and Live his life as if nothing happened!"I cannot proceed with anything further than this. But the unsolved pieces are now coming into their place. Now I know why Michael was so possessive over me. He wanted me to live with him so that he could make sure I won't open my mouth about my parents' accident in front of anyone. Now that I remember, I know why I saw Michael with a girl in my dreams. It was Michael and Loren since the beginning. there was not me anywhere in his picture. He wanted me to stay with him so that he could stay close to the woman who has the heart of his first love.I gasped and covered my
"-That's why I've got the evidence for you." He completed his line from exactly where I stopped him.He stared into my eyes as he started making his way towards me. I would be lying if I say I was not scared. I was scared as hell that I could swear I almost had peed in my clothes...if only... if only he hadn't had reached for the drawer of the nightstand. I watched him as he took out a thick brown envelope out of it and slide it close again. I wonder what could be in it as my gaze never leaving his hand that was white-knuckling the thick envelope. He took us a paper and threw it into my lap. I glanced at it and then to his glorious face, waiting for fir him to tell me what is it. And like he a psychic to read my mind he answered, "It's the report of your medical shit. Plus a copy of the document that was signed by your and donor's family that agreed to donate the descendent's heart to save your ass."He should not be right. He should not be right. Please god, do
~ CASSANDRA’S POINT OF VIEW ~“I was planning to tell you all of this once you would have gotten better. Much better to handle everything as a reason to hold you back, for it’s the safest way to keep you by my side. But now it seems like I could not hold you back any longer. I could hide the truths from you about your life and what you have to face ahead if I tell you now.” I heard him say.I could not understand why he said that. The only thing I know is that I know thismotherfucker is gonna be kidding me if he pulls up a stunt to kill me, again, I’m gonna kick his ball this is one and I won’t be regretting it.I was waiting for when he was gonna open his mouth again that he had sealed after he was said that much absurdity. Looks like I would be one to start the fucking conversation with this weird creature.“Could you please tell me what is going on?” I pleaded, my voice was merely a whisper. I was too scared of him to ask him. He didn’t answer but his head hung do
~CASSANDRA’S POINT OF VIEW~It was nighttime when I opened my eyes. My eyelids were heavy with the number of tears I had shed earlier, not because I remembered the cause about why I’m laying on the bed with an oxygen mask on my face to support my life and the reason was the same person who is been trying everything or anything since past few days to save me, to make me breathe freely without using a fucking oxygen mask.Ironically, when I opened my eyes in the middle of the night, I was in the embrace of that dangerous man who once attempted to kill me just to satisfy his revenge on Michael. His strong arms were caging me with the same tightness that I remembered was the first time he squeezed me into him early this day when I cried to know my reality. The huge room was shining with the pin-d
~ CASSANDRA’S POINT OF VIEW~It’s been fifteen days since Daniel has brought me back to his villa or should I say a villa which he turned into a hospital for me. And it’s been fifteen days I’m still under the eyes of doctors and Oh, Daniel. He never left my side since the day he brought me here, not even for a second, even he if sleeps, just because I force him to sleep, he sleeps on the couch which in place at the corner of this huge room.I wonder what my connection is with him but the way he’s been taking care of me I’m sure we have some special connection, the difference is I don’t know if we knew each other already or is it just my mind that’s playing tricks with me cause sometimes I have this feeling that I’m or maybe I was so attached to him ( before I had lost most of my memories)
~ CASSANDRA’S POINT OF VIEW~Their laugh was suppressing all the noises of the world. The girl was glistening with the water of the ocean as the boy was splashing the salty water on her. They were running on a beach, ditching the waves of the Ocean underneath their feet. The sky was painted with unrealistic colors that can only be found in a rainbow or maybe it was the color of the cotton candy that was in their hands as they were enjoying it at the time of the golden hour. The girl snatched the cotton candy from the hand of the boy as she started running, “Come and get me,” She yelled at the boy while running as she heard the boy giggling, “Stop there, Loren. I’m gonna get you.”“First catch me, Michael.” She answered, still running,
Michael makes it to his office, he feels so guilty for the way he’s been acting towards Cassandra and he has been organising things on the drive to work, with how to make it all up to Cassandra. He’s just putting his coat awaywhen his phone buzzes.“Santorum” He answers, his voice as cold as ice out of boredom.“Michale, where are you?” Aaron’s panicked voice sounds over the phone.“I just got to the office, why what’s wrong,” Michael asks his voice wavering at Aaron’s tone.“There's a hostage situation, it’s Cassandra. The building has been evacuated but they’ve got Cassandra In the apartment” Aaron says, his panic can be sensed by his voice.“I’m on my way,” Michael says as he hangs up. He’s never in his life run so fast, Robert and his security Flagging him as he makes his way back to the car in record time. As they approach the penthouse, the roads are closed off, so Ali pulls up a block away from theapartment and they run the rest of the way, there are am
