Chapter 13: Another Man

Sylvia had just helped Elaine bandage her wound when the sound of hurried footsteps approached. Mason walked in with a stern face, his momentum intimidating. Elaine instinctively stood up from the sofa and stammered, "Cousin..."

"So, you still acknowledge me as your cousin? If there's a next time, just get out. The Smith family doesn't harbor selfish and self-serving people!"

Unexpectedly, Mason, who was usually reserved but articulate, was now furious with wide-open angry eyes, his temple veins pulsating. Not only Elaine was dumbfounded, but Sylvia standing beside her was also stunned.

Sylvia hurriedly stepped forward to mediate, "Brother, why are you getting angry at Elaine? Can't you see that she's still injured?"

"She brought it upon herself!"

Mason growled angrily, then turned and walked upstairs. Soon, a thunderous slamming sound echoed from upstairs, causing all three of them in the room to tremble.
