Chapter 4 - Who is Aiden?

Chapter 4

Kelly woke up in the morning feeling all sorts of weird and she had mixed feelings about what had happened before with someone totally unexpected , she was not only flashing back to her ex-boyfriend proposing to her now ex best friend, she was waking up to the fact that she had kissed someone and she said her world with someone that she didn't expect to share her with but it felt right in a weird way because she had just come out of what she had thought was the most shocking experience of her life because she didn't expect what happened to happen she knew and expect her best friend to throw a surprise engagement party for her.

When she left the party to go to her hotel room to go pack her stuff since she didn't feel like people and since the who's who of the media were at the party and she knew that she had to get out of the hotel and just find a place where nobody could question her as to what happened how it happened and what the hell's going on because there was a lot going on.

She had left the party and was making her way to the elevator when one of the reporters stopped her and started harassing her asking her what had happened ,and why is it that nobody knew about the breakup ,or how is it that she didn't know about her boyfriend being with her best friend for a while now . She didn't want to answer the reporter and she just wanted to go to a place where nobody knew her and nobody knew what was going on in her life, that had turned upside down first of all she had no job and she was staying at her best friend's hotel and secondly the job that she thought that she had was given to her by someone who had asked someone for a favor. She wasn't in any mood to answer any questions and she hadn't processed what happened to her properly. It was still fresh and it felt like falling and scraping your knee and being kicked while you're down.

While she was trying to tell the reporter to leave her alone, the reporter was adamant cause she wouldn't leave her alone, she was playing mean and having a field day with her and she knew the tactic that the reporter was using but she didn't want to entertain anything that the reporter wanted to say ,so she took a deep breath and calmed down and as she was about to speak to tell the reporter; that she didn't want to comment on anything and that she would send out a post when she felt like it or something explaining what the whole gist of the situation was and what had happened to her. Her knight in shining armor came in the form of the guy that she met earlier on who came to her rescue.

What Aiden did was greet the reporter and ask her if she wanted access to the VIP section , he told her that he was part of the team that had won the pre-season tour and they were celebrating and not only were they celebrating that, they were also celebrating the engagement that had just happened so if she wanted the inside scoop of what was really going on she might as well just take the VIP pass and go and have fun and get all the content that she could get for her page or her news site. Aiden had asked the reporter in such a way that she couldn't say no, and she couldn't pass up the opportunity that he was giving her besides he had enough partying for one night and he needed his strength for the next day because he needed to deal with his personal life and not only that he also needed to deal with his professional life because everything was changing and it was changing at a rapid pace for him to but he didn't want to give it away however he also didn't want to pass up the opportunity of getting to know Kelly and playing the hero.

Kelly took that as an opportunity to duck and run away as fast as she could because she didn't want to cause any more drama than she had already witnessed the last thing she wanted to be was at the bottom end of a scandal that was bound to be making news the next day because her ex-boyfriend was popular and everybody wanted to know everything that was going on with him and surprise surprise her now ex best friend, decided to tell the whole world that she was not only cheated on by her boyfriend but it had been going on for five years and she's the number one girl in his life right now and she's no longer with him.

Fact was that they were the it couple and nobody expected what happened to happen and when it did happen it all came crashing down however ,Kelly wasn't as mean-spirited as Melissa . She knew the value of publicity and getting everything out there because she was also in the business of content production and writing stories about the places she had been to and most of all she would cover festivals that were going on around the world she had actually booked tickets for a music festival in Miami later on for the year but it looked as if she was going to go to the the festival alone and not only that she had also submitted her now ex-boyfriend demo for a competition that he wanted to enter but didn't have the guts to but she did it for him and told him later on that day so from sharing the world with, what she thought would be her ever after to now finding out that she is single and everything that had happened for the past five years has been a lie and she needed to change she needed some sort of reform and she needed to just forget that everything was up in the air she needs to get back to what she knew.

While Aiden was talking to someone else she took it as an opportunity he just bolt and be quick about bolting out because she had already had her bags packed but she just needed to get out of the hotel and probably into a car and drive home because that's the only place that she knew that she was going to be safe and that's the only area that she knew everybody would accept her for who she was and not the bad choices that she made she was smart enough to keep the friends that she had before she met her now ex who made her alienate majority of her friends and focus on him , but Dante stuck around. The elevator doors closed, but the doors that were closing opened again and Aiden walked in and pressed the close button and calmly looked at Kelly .

Kelly swatted her tears from her face and looked at Aiden;

" Aiden thank you so much for doing what you did I was actually going to tell the reporter to back off a little bit before I release my own version of the story that you just saved me right now and thank you for just coming to my rescue because I would have actually just broken down and cried like I'm crying right now and I'm gonna start crying about everything that's going wrong in my life right now. "

Without hesitation Aiden pulled Kelly in for a hug and held her, gently rubbing circles on her back with his hand.

" Kelly I'd do it again in a heartbeat you shouldn't have gone through what you have gone through ,right now I think if anything you should be processing what has happened to you and I don't think that you've had much time to process what has happened to you and we all have our days but I think that you're having one of the worst days you can ever have."

The elevator pinged indicating that they were at the floor they were supposed to be at and Kelly let go of Aiden and walked out he followed placing his hand around her shoulder so that she wouldn't feel like he was letting go of her anytime soon truth was he wasn't going to regrow her anytime soon he wanted to make you feel better and in some way he was drawn to her in a good way and not in a lustful way.

" To be honest I think today was just a day from hell and the script was written by demons and executed by its minions in the form of my ex-boyfriend who I thought I was going to marry and made me believe that he was going to propose to me today believe it or not and my now former best friend who I trusted with all my problems. I mean I know that I should have told my boyfriend what was bothering me about him but I didn't know that telling my best friend my boyfriend's quirks and things would result in me losing Cody . "

They were walking towards both their rooms and absentmindedly Kelly walked into Aiden's hotel room while she was talking .

" If you ask me I will tell you that it is Cody's loss . If you are friends with my cousin and he's protective over you then you must be someone really special and somebody worth keeping because he is one hell of a picky person and if he's protective over you then you must be doing something right."

Aiden closed the door and Kelly realized that she was in Aiden's hotel room and not hers .

"I am in your hotel room and as much as part of me wants to call it a night I kind of feel safe around you if that makes any sense because you helped me out and I don't know how to thank you . "

Aiden took a deep breath, winced and he kissed Kelly on the forehead .

" If it makes you feel any better I can't get over or encounter earlier on today you have a way about you that makes me feel comfortable being around you anyway and some part of me wants to protect you if that's not weird enough I don't know it is the fear of you running away and it was the one thing burning like a Knife at the back of my mind. What if I never see you again?"

" That's because we don't know each other from the bar of soap but we have a connection and I don't take that very lightly one thing I do know is that my gut is never wrong and something about you feels just so right and absolute and I wouldn't want to be here if I didn't feel safe with you. "

" That's good to know . "

Aiden took a seat on the couch and Kelly sat next to him .

" I didn't order any room service because I don't know what you like eating but it's the one thing that my mother always said was that ;no matter what you're facing the first thing you need to do is eat and then figure out where you go from there because you need to have all the strength you need to face whatever you going to face. "

" I just don't feel hungry and I had a bit of alcohol and I'm a little bit tipsy but I'll be fine, nothing I can't handle. "

" Lucky for you I requested to have a self catering room . "

" Why would you do that when you have people at your beck and call because you don't strike me as the type to do stuff by yourself you delegate, you strike me as the alpha male type, correct me if I'm wrong because I'm just speaking from what I've observed. "

" So you have been watching me. "

" Observing doesn't make a difference and I won't let it slip that I'm observing you what I used to do required observing and reporting back but I covered parties around the world and I did some social media for a magazine that just fired me today so as of today I'm what you call a freelancer and a free agent and I just don't know what to do and I'm at a place where I need to let go but there's one thing that's just eating at me. "

" Let me guess; not knowing where to start after everything has just been burnt to the ground? "

" Sort of, I mean I do have other qualifications. I do have a specific one but I really loved what I was doing and I really loved traveling and coming back home to what I thought was a solid relationship but what was solid turned out to be flaky. "

" I think we're in the same boat because I'm starting something new and for the first time in a long time I don't know where to go I don't know where to start but I learnt a long time ago to start with what I have and what I know,and I'm going to use that to get through the mammoth task that I have been given which I cannot tell you right now but I hope you understand. "

" Fair enough you got me out of a sticky situation and technically it is is your house and it's your rules so I'm not going to push you to give me an answer as to what you do but what I do know is that you are my friend's cousin and I don't know how he would feel about us being together. "

" I know that the both of you are playing pretend because you have a habit of doing that thing that you're doing with your lips. I'm very observant too and I've been watching you and you have a tendency of biting your bottom lip when you don't want to let people know that you're pretending you did it a couple of times when I saw you talking with Cody. "

" I'm hiding what I actually truly feel and that's just being disingenuous in a way because I'm lying to myself about how I really feel and at the end of the day I just don't want to hurt the person I'm talking to even though they're hurting me."

" You haven't done that around me which is indication that you trust me and surprise surprise I feel comfortable around you and I trust you enough to tell you what's bothering me if you tell me what's bothering you it works both ways and maybe just maybe we could be friends or more than just friends… "

" I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours . "

" Deal . First we need to eat "

" What's on the menu? "

" You ."

Kelly caught her breath for a moment .

" What ?"

" every inch of you. I just can't get enough."

Kelly snapped out of her flashback when she heard her doorbell ring. She had it downstairs and to go open the door and the person standing at the door had breakfast and her favorite beverage which was Chai tea. She could smell the breakfast from where she stood and she couldn't believe who was at her door .

" Rumor has it that you are newly single . I told you he was going to mess up. "

" You told me so . "

" May I come in ? "

" Do you even have to ask Rossi ? Make yourself at home . "

" For what it's worth I'm glad you are back home . "

"Me too ."

She took a seat by the kitchen island while Dante prepped breakfast .

" Who is Aiden ? "
