CHAPTER 4

LUKE'S POV

To say that I was already sick and tired of Sarah would only be an understatement.

She's now a pain in my ass. I just wish there was a way I could chase her out already.

I have done everything possible to torture her to the point of leaving, yet she remains adamant and prefers to suffer the pain.

Well, there wasn't much I could do anyway. I just had to wait for the right time to get her to sign our divorce papers once for all.

The cold breeze in the room penetrated into my skin, leaving me completely refreshed and filled with hunger.

That good for nothing asshole was yet to serve my meal.

“What's keeping you from serving my meal, Sarah?!” I yelled out, hoping that she would hear me.

Luckily enough, she did.

In less than a few minutes, I began to hear footsteps of someone climbing down the stairs.

I knew instantly that she must be the one coming. She dared not keep me waiting one more second.

She approached me with the meal in her hands, her face squeezed into a faint smile.

I knew fully well that those smiles weren't genuine. She was obviously faking it.

What business of mine was that anyway?

I sighed deeply as I watched her decorate the dining table with different delicacies.

“Here is your meal, Luke.”

I got infuriated the moment I heard her call me by my name.

I thought I had long warned her against addressing me informally.

My eyes dazed at her in a furious glare. I hoped that she was going to realize her mistake and correct it, but none of that happened.

Now, she was on her way to leave without saying a single word to me.

Really?!

I reached out for her right hand immediately, gripping it firmly in my fist.

“What was that supposed to mean, woman?”

“W…what? I don't seem to understand you.” Her voice shook with uncertainty as she said those words.

A tinge of sincerity was certain in her voice.

But was I really going to believe her attitude of pretending that she didn't understand what I was trying to say? Of course not!

My fingers found their way on her hair and I pulled it aggressively.

I brought my face close to hers. “Do you still insist you don't know what I'm talking about?”

“I'm serious.. I can't hide anything from you for any reason.”

“Oh really?” A sly smile crept out of my lips. “So you're really going to stand there and act like you never called me by my name just a few minutes ago?”

Her eyes suddenly narrowed with shock. Her feet trembled with fear.

“Please I… I never meant to disrespect you in that manner, sir.” She bowed her head gently.

I let out a little smile as I watched her shake in fright.

Of course, I was happy seeing her that way.

But now, her presence irked me. “Get out!”

The words spilled out of my lips with anger. I was raged with so much fury by mere staring at her.

But something confusing happened immediately I asked her to leave.

“Stop there!” A loud voice yelled from the stairs. I looked in that direction immediately and saw Keila walking down the stairs in all majesty.

My face suddenly erupted in a smile. I felt this surreal joy whenever I had her around me.

I just couldn't explain this feeling.

She hastened her steps. As soon as she got to where Sarah was standing, she gripped her on one ear and began to drag her to where I was.

“Ouch! Please, you're hurting me.” Sarah cried with a faint voice.

Each time she said those words, Keila lashed out at her in anger.

“Who the hell cared about you? Come on, move those filthy legs of yours! You have a lot of explanations to give us.”

W.. what?!

What was this I was hearing? What could Sarah have done this time around for Keila to accuse her with so much anger?

She looked serious in every word she spilled. I sighed at the both of them as they drew closer to where I was sitting.

Meanwhile, my stomach was already beginning to ache badly. I made my way to the dining room to have something as I waited to find out what Keila was up to this time around.

Unfortunately, I was immediately by Keila's questioning voice when I was just an inch away from the dining room.

She raised both hands above her head. She was just acting so dramatic, leaving me even more confused and perplexed.

“What do you think you are trying to do, darling?”

“I w…was just about to have my first meal for the day. I'm seriously hungry. My stomach hurts badly.”

My face squeezed as a result of discomfort.

Instead of Keila giving her approval about the meal, she went on her knees and began to yell furiously at Sarah.

“Are you just going to stand there and watch my husband attempt to eat your poisoned meal?”

She shot a glare at Sarah who looked surprised at her question.

“What?! I didn't poison his food. What are you trying to say?” She said insistently.

At this point, I was left between believing her or Keila.

Sarah sounded so convincing to be suspected. I just found myself staring at them to see the outcome of all these.

I turned my daze on Keila. “Wait, are you trying to say that she poisoned my meal?”

“Yes, she did! And I can prove it if that's what you want.” Keila sounded so sure of what she was saying.

Yet, Sarah kept denying ever doing such a thing.

“Why would I ever think of poisoning my own husband? I..”

“Shut that trap you call mouth! Who is your husband?”

My voice echoed with anger. I took a step backwards and turned my gaze back on Keila.

“Please, darling, go ahead and prove your point. I'm all ears.”

Keila smiled happily as she stared at Sarah.

“Come forward and have a taste of the meal.”
