For the whole of next week, I dove into a series of training sessions. Alpha Lance had made sure my phone and other communication devices were confiscated. This was to make me more focused and less distracted.

Well, it was easy because I decided not to text Damon after the last time. I knew the best way to talk about it was to communicate about it but I couldn't bring myself to do it. I was slightly embarrassed to talk about it so I checked out already.

We also didn't text that night and that was solely because I wasn't interested in talking. I'd switched off my phone and gone ahead to continue reading the book of light, silently wishing Damon would show up at my window so we could talk it out face to face.

But that night, I'd turned my phone back on to see that a guard had been killed. He was on a patrol and had strayed away from his group members and that had must have lured the Demon.
