The scent of coffee lured me into the kitchen.

I smiled when I saw the pot of coffee being brewed as it always was. It was a little thing, but it was something that I’d started looking forward to every morning since the first time I had it.

I walked off to the fridge first to get myself something to eat, but instead of food, all I saw were pastries, chocolates and other diabetes-inducing sweets.

I planted my hand on my hip and weighed the consequences of eating sweets so early in the morning. My focus was so diverted that I didn’t sense Sarah until she was standing right behind me and speaking.“You get used to it when Caeson makes the lists,” she whispered.

I jolted and took a step away from her in the process, unsettled by her sudden presence.

I didn’t reply to her puzzling words, but my eyes caught on the oversized shirt she wore. It was very clearly Reigh’s and I didn’t need to be a prophet to know that the two had spent the night together.
