I pawned Caeson’s car two days ago.

And now I was swimming in more money than I knew what to do with.

The first thing I did with my sudden wealth was to move Da’ana into a new care home, the kind of place I’d stared longingly at in the magazine when I was picking a home for her in the first place.

It was lavish. Her room and bed were much larger and her wing was in a private area filled with other children. There were private caretakers for each child, good food, decent entertainment and better specialists to help her navigate life.

Most importantly, it was safe and hidden.

I also no longer had to worry about her between the times when I wasn’t around, with all the things there, she was sure to have a great time.

The care home cost a fuck ton of money, but it barely put a dent into the money I’d gotten from selling Caeson’s car.
