Hopeless

Alessandro's departure left a silence between me and Axe. I focused on bandaging Axe's wound with the shirt I had wanted to take off, not caring that Axe had stopped me from doing so, all I cared about was the wound. Axe's blood couldn't just be allowed to flow, it was dangerous-Axe could bleed to death.

"You shouldn't take your clothes off, Bridgette. What if you get cold."

"Shut up. Don't be busy thinking about other people, you're the one who almost died."

I spoke without looking at Axe in the slightest, still busy tying the last coil on his arm.

"I'll die only if my revenge mission is complete. That bastard won't be able to kill me easily," Axe said half-fire. The vengeance in his eyes never went out when talking about the person he'd marginalized in his life. If I were in Axe's shoes, I would feel the same way.

"Your uncle messed everything up. From the cctv footage on my cell phone, he freed Arthur and foiled my plan to get you out of this pathetic city," h
