Katrina's POV

I went outdoors and felt the chill of the wind on my skin. It was a really quiet night. It was the type of silence that awakened my sense. There was a problem. I felt it.

With my heart beating and my ears perked up, I moved carefully. I had felt movement earlier, but the packhouse was unmoving. It wasn't my fantasy. There was a visitor.

Then I caught sight of him.

A shadow that moved quickly between the trees close to the eastern edge. My breath caught in my throat as I squinted. Shaun had one of those Betas. Henry.

Why was he alone himself out here?

I approached slowly and carefully. He was using his hands quickly over something while crouching behind a tree. A tool. A speaker.

I felt sick to my stomach.

Henry had something to say.

I crouched behind another tree and watched him, my heart racing. His face had a little shine from the moonlight. He peered around every few seconds, as if he was scared. To whom was he speaking? And why?

I started to feel sick. Betra

Henry had always been loyal—or so we thought. And now, we were chasing ghosts, trying to find solutions in the dark. The forest was silent except for our footsteps cracking against the damp earth. My hands ached with exhaustion as I scrubbed and scrubbed the heavy clothes in the cold, unforgiving weather.I could have used the washing machine inside the house but Amanda had said No! She said a disgusting wolf-less Omega like me didn’t deserve to use washing machines. That wasn’t all, Amanda, the Alpha's girlfriend, had forced more massive bags of laundry on me, claiming it was my new duty as an omega slave to wash everyone's clothes.I silently sighed and endured the pain, because arguing with Amanda was like throwing rocks in the air…. they only all fall back to hit you.The icy water made my fingers numb like they were about to break off, and my back protested with every bend. But I pushed on.Then, a sudden, sharp voice pierced the air, calling my name with a tone that made my freeze into my throat."Katrina!" Amanda's voice called out, in such a loud shrieking voice that made me pretty sure that every pack member nearby could hear. "Stupid bitch! Get over here!"I slowly dr

I couldn't believe how he had the guts act so casually after what had happened. I knew Amanda was jealous of me, but seeing Shaun here, in my room, was a stark reminder of why she hated and bullied me so relentlessly. He still kept me as his concubine, even after rejecting me as his mate.I gave him the coldest of shoulders, my voice trembling with a mixture of pain and anger. "What are you doing here, Shaun?"He chuckled, his tone infuriatingly nonchalant. "I came to see how you were doing, my dear. You seemed quite upset earlier."Upset? That was the understatement of the century. My body was battered and broken, and the man who had once held my heart was now acting as though nothing had happened."You sent those guards to whip me!" I finally accused, my voice shaking with rage and betrayal.Shaun's expression remained maddeningly composed. "Oh, that? I only did it to please Amanda. You understand, right? She's my mate now, and I have to keep her happy."His words cut through me lik

I was so close to escaping the pack's oppressive grasp when suddenly, as if the moon itself had conspired against me, the door to my room swung open, and there stood Alpha Shaun. My heart pounded in my chest, and I froze in fear. Every other time I had tried to leave or begged him to let me go, it had ended with his temper exploding, and I was left battered and bruised. His eyes bore into mine, and his voice was a thunderous growl. "What do you think you're doing, Katrina?"I couldn't hide the fear in my voice as I shouted back, "I'm tired of this miserable life you and Amanda are forcing me to live through!" My voice cracked with anger and desperation. "Amanda almost killed me this time!"Shaun's rage was palpable, but it was tempered by a hint of concern. "Amanda did what?" He stormed closer, his fists clenched.I raised my voice, tears streaming down my face. "Yes! She attacked me because she thought I was trying to take you from her, just like you did when you whipped me!"Shaun's

I felt a light breeze brush my skin and frowned in wonder at the sensation. The sound of leaves rustling as I moved about also got my attention, causing my brows to furrow in thought as I scanned my brain for an explanation to the sounds and feeling.Coming up with nothing, I did a final stretch, something like sand falling on my face at the action. Curiosity got the better of me and I unraveled my lids, instantly shutting them as I caught a glimpse of my surrounding.“Oh heavens,” I muttered in horror, the color draining from my face and my heart racing as it all came back.Abruptly, I opened my eyes for the second time and stared beside me. Not at all surprised but at the same feeling a sense of stupidity wash over me as I observed it to be empty.Planting my palms on the dry leaves and moist earth beneath me, I moved my body to a sitting position as I slowly came to an understand

His formidable face in a scowl as he stood in a black shirt and jeans, his body too close that I felt uncomfortable and scared as always.“Don’t play smart with me Katrina,” he gritted, jaw clenched as he glared at me. “I asked you a question.”“Umm, I—” I started but he cut me off.“Don’t answer the first it's obvious you were trying to escape,” he pronounced and I stared at anywhere but his face. “But the second is very important and I need an answer fast.”Silence reigned between and around us except for the noise of our breathing and the rustling of the leaves and branches around. I opened my mouth but closed it again as fear wouldn't let me form a sentence.A ready lie was on my tongue but I couldn't speak up. As moments passed, his stare became sharper as his scowl grew deeper, his hold on me tightening.“Katrina,” he called warningly, rage flowing out of me in waves. A whimper left my lips

Katrina’s POVThe tips of my toes scraped on the ground as I was dragged limply down the stairs. I had no idea of the route to the dungeon moreover the foul stench in the air and the sound of grunts informed me we were close.“Open up,” He commanded as we came to a halt. “Yes Alpha,” whomever he spoke to responded and metals clicked in place, following after by a screeching noise.“Get in there,” Shaun growled and threw me in with much force that I landed on my knees, my palms scratched by the rough floor and face squeezed in disgust by the stronger foul scent which met my nostrils. “Lock the door Dean.”“Please Shaun,” I whirled around still on my hands and knees, not minding the dirt and whatever compost the mud was made of and faced him as he strolled in, a merciless expression on his facial features.“No amount of begging will save you from this Katrina,” he sneered, an evil look in his eyes as he crouched to my level while Dean the guard shut the iron barriers, locking it as he

Frowning and squinting my eyes, I sat up and watched it come closer.Luckily for me it didn't get too close thus I would have been blinded by it. It stopped and I observed it with interest, questions flying about in my head. ‘Be strong Katrina,’ a feminine voice echoed from the light, causing my frown to become deeper as I wondered what the hell was happening.‘Who are you?’ I questioned in a quiet tone, trying to peek behind the light as I wondered if the guard stationed at the door was sleeping or had left thus it seemed like I was the only one there with whatever the light was.‘Someone you’d come to thank,’ the voice said. ‘You have questions which would be answered in due time.’‘No, I want them answ

Katrina's POVTension hung in the night air. It was felt in my bones. With the wolves restless and their instincts warning them to approaching danger, the pack had been restless all day. I also felt it. There was a problem. For reasons I couldn't understand, my heart was racing as I stepped outdoors and looked up at the black sky. Beside me, Shaun had a gloomy look. With fighters positioned across the area, his pack was on high alert. Then it took place. Through the darkness came a long, eerie wail in the distance. We didn't have it. My blood froze. Shaun's tone was sharp. "They're present." Shadows passed between the trees before I could reply. Out of the darkness sprang figures—Lycans. Twelve or more of them. Their forms were big and frightening, and their eyes gleamed in the moonlight. Shaun stepped in front of me and told me to stay back. I wasn't going to hide, however. A Lycan took a step forward. His eyes were full of hate, and his hair was dark gray. "We have a message

It was a quiet night. Too quiet. With an odd feeling in my gut, I sat up in bed. Something unseen was thick in the air, making it seem heavy. I paid careful attention. Nothing. Then there was a noise. A little scuff on the glass. With my heart racing, I sprang to my feet. Danger was what my feelings were screaming at me. Step by step, my fingers tightened into fists as I approached the sound. Outside, a shadow moved. My breath caught. Then the glass broke. A dark person sprang into the space. He was on me before I could even reply. The moonlight glinted on a blade. The cold blade sliced my arm as I pulled away, but not fast enough. Even though I was in pain, I continued. My arm slammed into the intruder's side as I spun around. Despite his groan, he stayed standing. He moved quickly. Too quickly. He had killing training. The sword slashed at my neck, and I ducked. My heart was racing. I couldn't afford to make even one mistake. Once again, he lunged. I ducked, acting just au

I gazed at the moon while standing on the balcony. My breath was erratic, and my hands were shaking. Even when the night wind touched my skin, the tempest inside of me continued to rage. In an attempt to suppress the terror that was tearing at my chest, I balled my fists. I felt as if my body wasn't mine. I was powerful, unstoppable, for a time. The next, I felt useless and feeble. Shaun approached me from behind. "What's wrong, Katrina?" My lips trembled as I turned to face him. "I have no idea what's going on with me." My voice broke. "I feel strong for a moment. I feel like I'm drowning the next moment. With a sigh, he reached for my hand, but I resisted. Comfort wasn't what I wanted. I was looking for answers. "It's because you've changed," he said softly. "You've evolved beyond being a werewolf. You are more than that. I gave a sour chuckle. "Is there more? Or is anything broken? Shaun's face became serious. "Katrina, you're not broken." I gave a headshake. "You're not ge

Katrina’s POVThe woman on the cliff disappeared as the river roared back into place, the bone path swallowed by the churning waters. My heart pounded, the Relic’s icy burn spreading up my arm. The visions lingered—her voice, her eyes, the chair of bones.‘Katrina,’ Marie’s voice was faint, strained. ‘The Relic… it’s changing you.’“I know,” I whispered, clutching my scarred hand. The runes pulsed with a faint red light, matching the rhythm of my heartbeat. The forest around me was strangely silent, the air thick with tension. I needed to move, to find Davos, to warn him. But where could I go? The castle was in ruins, the pack scattering. And now, this woman—this thing—was hunting me.I stumbled to my feet, my wet dress clinging to my skin. The Relic’s glow gave just enough light to see the rocky shore. I followed it downstream, thinking it would lead me to safety. But the forest had other plans. The trees seemed to close in around me, their branches turning into clawed hands. Shadows

Katrina POVAdvisor Thomas smiled sharply and unnaturally, and his snake-like eyes gleamed. As he transformed back into a human, the Blood Moon Alpha snarled and flung me to the ground in the jungle."Traitor," spit out the Alpha. "The plan was for you to die in the vault."Blood still trickled from Thomas's lips as he tilted his head. "One I've learned to...work out." "Death is a choice." He held up his hand, and the red-eyed rogues stepped forward. "Give me the hybrid, and you can crawl back to your pack with your tail between your legs."The Alpha growled, his fingers sprouting claws. "Don't take what's mine."Marie hissed in my head, "Katrina." "He has the Relic in his satchel!"The leather pouch at the Alpha's waist caught my attention. Through the fissures streamed a faint blue radiance. Davos had attempted to safeguard the Relic.Thomas was the first to lunge, his movements oddly fluid. His hit sent a ripple across the trees as the Alpha collided with him in midair. The red-eye

The air reeked of smoke and blood, the castle walls moaning as fire consumed them. Davos tightened his grip on my hand, his breath ragged. Shaun changed back into human form beside us, his face mysterious but his stance coiled for action. “Who is that?” I whispered, my voice raw. Davos’s jaw clenched. “The puppeteer.” The figure raised a hand, and the rogues still crawling through the rubble froze, their snarls dying mid-throat. Silence fell, broken only by the crackle of fire. “You’ve made this tedious,” the figure said, their voice twisted, booming as if three people spoke at once. “But predictable. Always defending weakness.” Shaun stepped forward, his voice a blade. “Show your face.” The figure laughed—a sound that scraped my bones. “You first, traitor. How does it feel to kneel at her feet?” Shaun’s hands clenched, but Davos cut in. “

More were already flowing in behind the rebel fallen to the floor.'Stay back!' Davos yelled, his voice a hoarse snarl as he tore viciously across the rogues. His motions were a blur, each hit deadly and exact. But there were too many of them. For every rogue he took down, two others seemed to take its place. I held the blade Davos had given me, my hands trembling. My heart pounded in my chest, and I could feel Marie’s presence in my head, her words demanding. ‘Katrina, you need to fight. You can’t just stand here.’ ‘I don’t know how!’ I shot back, fear growing in my chest. ‘I’ve never fought like this before!’ ‘Use your instincts,’ Marie urged,
