Katrina’s POV

I rode through the dense forest, the morning mist curling around me like ghostly fingers. My heart pounded in my chest. I was on my way to the Elder Council, my last hope for help. The battle with Lucy had drained me, physically and mentally. My body ached, my mind raced. But there was no time to rest. I needed answers. I needed allies.

Shaun insisted on coming with me, but I told him to stay behind and guard the pack. If Davos was truly making his move, I couldn’t risk leaving them unprotected.

The Council’s temple stood on the highest peak, hidden by towering trees and steep cliffs. The journey was difficult, but I pushed forward. I had no choice. The fate of my people depended on this.

When I finally arrived, the temple loomed before me, its ancient stone walls covered in vines. The massive doors stood slightly open, an eerie silence filling the air.

I stepped inside, my boots echoing on the marble floor. The Elders sat in a semi-circle, their faces unreadable. They w

Katrina's POVThe night was thick with quiet, yet my mind was shouting. Sleep had become a stranger to me. Every time I closed my eyes, darkness pulled me under, pulling me into a world I couldn’t control. A world where Davos lurked, his voice like a shadow in my mind.Tonight was no different. As soon as I dozed off, I was somewhere else. Not in my bed, not in my room. I stood in a vast, endless void. The air crackled with power, choking me, making my chest tighten. Then, I heard it.“My son.”A voice—deep, dark, familiar.Davos.I spun around, my heart racing. He stood before me, tall and threatening, his golden eyes glowing like fire. He wasn’t just watching me. He was seeing through me.“No,” I whispered, stepping back. “You’re not real.”Davos tilted his head, his grin sharp as a blade. “I am always real, Katrina. Even when you try to forget me.”I clenched my hands. “Get out of my head.”He chuckled, the sound crawling under my skin. “Why do you fight it? You know the truth. You

Katrina’s POVI sat on the edge of the bed, my fingers twisted together so tightly they ached. My heart pounded painfully in my chest, as if trying to break free from the weight pressing down on it. This was it. The moment I had been dreading since the possibility first clawed its way into my mind. The truth was no longer something I could run from. I had to face it. I had to say it.The door creaked open, and Shaun stepped in. His face was unreadable, but his eyes—those piercing blue eyes—held a storm of emotions I couldn’t begin to name. Pain. Anger. Hope.I opened my mouth, but nothing came out. The words felt like thorns lodged in my throat.Shaun took a deep breath and folded his arms. “Say it, Katrina.”Tears blurred my vision. “Shaun…”“Say it,” he repeated, his voice cracking just enough to make my own heartbreak deepen.I squeezed my eyes shut. I had rehearsed this moment over and over in my mind, but now, standing in front of him, I felt paralyzed. Finally, I whispered, “He’

Katrina's POVThe cell's moist air was heavy with the smell of ancient blood and perspiration. The spooky sound of the steady water leak in the corner just added to my uneasiness. The outlaw sat in front of me, his face wounded and bruised, his wrists shackled. Despite his wounds, a grin formed on his lips. With my heart thumping in my chest, I took a deep gulp. I felt uneasy about him because of something in him. Shaun had personally brought him in for interrogation after he had been apprehended on the edge of our domain. It was my time now. I inhaled deeply before moving ahead. "Who are you?" My fingers shook at my sides, but my voice remained calm. The outlaw laughed, his black eyes meeting mine. He whispered, "That's the wrong question, Luna." "The right question is: Do you really want to know the truth?" A shiver went through my body. "What truth?" His shackles clanked on the chair as he leaned forward. "About the father of your kid. Regarding that particular evening. I gas

Katrina’s POVThere would be war.I felt it in my bones and in the wind's agitated murmurs. There was tension in the air, a calm before the storm. The pack also sensed it. Now they walked differently, taking careful steps and constantly looking for shadows.Davos would arrive. And he wouldn't give up until he had stolen everything from me this time.I watched my soldiers move as I stood at the edge of the training area. Their motions were precise and well-organized. Every movement of their body and every swing of their swords conveyed a sense of readiness. Would that be sufficient, though? Could we really defeat the creature that had plagued my past and now posed a danger to my future?Shaun was standing next to me, his arms folded, his face impassive. However, I was familiar enough with him to sense the storm that was building inside of him. He was upset. He was wounded. Above all, however, he was prepared to battle. With his eyes fixed on the fighters in front of us, he said, "We mu

Katrina's POVThe atmosphere was oppressively tense. Deep inside the neutral grounds, where no pack had control, I found myself standing in the center of an abandoned temple. The smell of wet moss and aged stone filled the cool air. The worn marble flooring were covered in lengthy shadows as a lone lamp burned in the darkness.Advisor Thomas was standing across from me.Shaun was standing behind me, his body tight, his eyes fixed on Thomas as though he thought he might attack at any second. I didn't hold him responsible. Thomas wasn't someone I trusted either. But I need clarification.Thomas grinned, his face composed and at ease. "Katrina, you arrived. That's encouraging. It indicates your willingness to pay attention.I balled my fists up. "My presence should not be interpreted as trust. You claimed to have knowledge. Talk."He laughed and took a hesitant step forward. "Direct and to the point. I honor that. Excellently. Shaun and I didn't move to sit when he pointed to an ancient

Katrina's POVWith heavy footsteps and waves of frustration flowing from him, Shaun paced the room. I tried to calm my own emotional tempest by sitting on the edge of the bed with my arms about me."You can't be thinking about this seriously," Shaun remarked in a furious tone.I let out a slow breath. "Shaun, I'm at a loss for what to do. We require a competitive edge.He tightened his hands at his sides. "Not in this manner. Not with him.I looked into his eyes, trying to make sense of it. "You are unaware of his deceit."Shaun chuckled harshly. "You are unaware that he is speaking the truth."There was an agonizing quiet between us. I could relate to him, and it made my heart hurt. Shaun wished to keep me safe. He wished to keep our pack safe. However, I couldn't get rid of the impression that Thomas had the secret to something bigger.I got up and walked up to him. Katrina’s POVShadows flickered around the walls of the deserted temple as the fire crackled softly. I could hardly feel the frigid air pressing in around me. I was trying to make sense of what Thomas had just said, but my mind was too busy and racing."Say that again," I said in a raspy whisper. With his arms folded and an enigmatic expression, Thomas stood in front of me. "Katrina, your son. He will eventually rule over both werewolves and lycans. My throat tightened each breath. My son. My lovely, naive youngster."That’s impossible," I stutteringly said. Depending on the decisions made, he will either bring peace or devastation to the species. Davos wants him because of this. Lucy won't stop pursuing you because of this. Katrina’s POVAs soon as I woke up, the world felt different. There was a problem. The silence was too loud, the air too still.I was gasping for air when I sat up in bed. My chest was thumping with my heart. I listened for the typical noises: my son's steady breathing in the adjacent room, the gentle rustle of the breeze outside, and the guards' silent patrolling footsteps. However, I didn't hear anything.I was in a panic. With my bare feet crashing into the wooden floor, I tossed away the blankets and hurried to his room. The door stood ajar a little. I pushed it wider with shaking hands. There was no one in the bed.My body grew cold, and my vision became blurry. My son is no longer here. The window was open, the curtains fluttered in the early morning wind, and the blankets were thrown away."No." With my body swaying, I whispered my words. Katrina's POVThe air was different.Colder. Heavier.I clenched my fingers into fists and inhaled slowly. I had been cautioned by the Elders that The Forgotten Realms was not a place for the weak. That I might not come out again after I got in. However, I didn't think twice. I was unable to.Shaun was standing next to me, nervous. "This is not necessary for you to do."I looked him in the eye. "Yes, I do."Mira spoke softly. "What if you don't return?"I made an effort to grin. "Then let my son know that I made an effort."She nodded and swallowed hard. The cloaks moved in the gloom as the Elders moved forward. One held out his hand. Katrina's POVDarkness. Cold. Silence. The might of the Elders has engulfed the world around me. My chest burned and my breathing was shallow and tight, but my body felt weightless, as if it were floating in an unending emptiness. Nothing was there for me to grasp when I reached out. Just the whispers, swirling like smoke around me."You are not ready."Soft and eerie, the words reverberated in my head, tinged with an unidentified substance. A caution. A pledge.Then—light.blinding. fierce.I gasped as I smacked against solid ground and the abyss broke. Katrina’s POVBefore us, the mountains loomed, quiet, and unending. I ascended higher, each step heavier than the previous, the chilly air burning my lungs. Steep and twisting through dense forests and sharp rocks, the trail was designed to keep people out. Perhaps that was the idea.Shaun strolled next to me, his eyes keen, his shoulders stiff. This was not a place he trusted. I didn't either. With her arms around her body and her breath coming in short gasps, Mira followed. Since our departure, she had not spoken much. Her thoughts were elsewhere. her relatives. With each stride she took, the burden of their destiny continued to pound down on her shoulders.Above us, ominous clouds rolled in, laden with the threat of a storm. A caution. Katrina's POVThe shadows let go of Mira, and she gasped, her body twitching. Shaking and breathing in sharp, irregular breaths, she fell into my arms. I grounded her by holding her tightly with my fingers on her shoulders. The shadows had parted. However, I was aware. It remained. Not quite yet. A few feet away, Shaun stood with his muscles taut and his sword drawn. Suspicion burned beneath his eyes as they flitted between Mira and me. He still didn’t trust her. Maybe he never would. Mira’s voice was hoarse. “Katrina…” I pulled back slightly, scanning her face. "I'm present." Her eyes welled with tears. “I didn’t want to. I promise, I didn’t want to.” Shaun laughed. "What did you not want to do?" Mira winced. “Obey.” Quiet. The word hung between us, heavy, laden with significance I didn’t understand yet. Shaun gripped his sword tighter. "So you acknowledge it." • Bound to the Alpha’s will   Chapter 148: The Traitor’s Plea

Katrina’s POVMira stood frozen, her face pale, her breath unsteady. The blood on the ground hadn’t even dried, and yet the camp felt quieter than ever. All around us, the warriors watched and waited. They had no faith in her. Nor was I certain that I did.Beside me, Shaun was motionless, his hand clutching his sword's hilt. I could feel the anger leaving him even though he remained silent. In combat, Mira had served as my sister, friend, and second-in-command. Now, however, she was our only link to the enemy.I walked slowly in her direction. "Be honest with me."Mira winced. "Katrina, I—""Now," I said, sounding sharper than I meant to.Her mouth quivered. She looked around, at Shaun, at the warriors, at the dead body between us. Then her eyes met mine, full of something I couldn’t name. Fear? Guilt? Desperation?“I don’t know what’s happening to me,” she whispered.Shaun laughed. "That is insufficient."Mira’s hands curled into fists. “You think I did this?”I inhal

Traitor's ShadowWith her dagger in her fingers, Mira stood motionless and silent. My intellect was yelling at me to make sense of everything as my stomach twisted. My pal Mira. Second in command of me. The person who had battled next to me was bleeding next to me. She refused to turn on me. She refused. The deserted prisoner tents, however, conveyed a different message. The warriors who went missing. The food was stolen. the plans that were leaked. The soldiers of Crimson Alpha were aware of everything we did. The solution was now directly in front of me. Shaun took a step forward, tensed. "Tell me that this isn't true." Mira gripped her dagger more tightly. She remained still. didn't flinch. I took a deep breath. "Mira. Speak up. Her gaze wavered. Katrina's POVIt was a different camp. Uncomfortable. False. Something was wrong, as the scouts patrolled, the warriors exercised, and the weapons were sharpened. People's movements, the way whispers spread, and the way eyes flashed too fast as I passed all gave me a sense of it. Something was going on. Something negative.Mira approached me with a thin line of her lips pressing on mine. "The food is gone."I scowled. "What?"She folded her arms. This morning, we conducted an inventory. Our supplies are missing. Many of them.My stomach turned over. "Would it have been an error?"She gave a headshake. "No. They were taken by someone.I let out a breath and looked around the camp. The soldiers were more tense than normal. It was more than just the cuisine. There was more. I sensed it.Shaun approached with a somber expression. "There's another issue."I looked him in the eye. Katrina's POVSilently, we strolled. My flesh was burning, even though the night air was cool. Everything else was drowned out by my thoughts, which were too loud. It was the Crimson Alpha. He was still alive. He desired authority. He desired to be in charge. I had to decide what to do about it immediately. With his fists clenched and his jaw taut, Shaun strolled next to me. Mira kept looking back to see if anyone was pursuing us. I didn't anticipate him pursuing us. He didn't have to. He had offered. He was waiting now.At last, Shaun said something. "We cannot rely on him."I gave a nod. "I understand."Mira let out a sigh. "Can we fight him, though?"Quiet.Shaun let out a loud sigh. "We must."That was what I wanted to think. Yes, I did. But I had witnessed his strength. I sensed it. The way the earth shook at his mere presence, the way the air hunched around him. He wasn't your average Alpha. He was unique.Mira spoke softly.
