The dismissal bells rang and without wasting any time, I grabbed my worn-out backpack and walked out of the classroom. Keeping my head down and scuffing my worn sneakers on the dusty path, I made my way through the throngs of students, hoping to leave school quickly and return to the comfort and solitude of my room.
“And where do you think you're going?” A shadow blocked my path, and I took in a deep breath and braced myself. I knew exactly who this was and cursed my luck that I didn't leave sooner. Slowly, I raised my head to see the cruel amber eyes of Ashley staring down at me with a wicked smirk on her face.
She was flanked by her crew members. Six of them. All flashing wicked grins at me.
“What do you want?” I asked in a meek tone.
“What do I want? If I told you what I wanted, could you possibly give it to me? You omega runt.” Ashley spat out, and her crew laughed, pointing mocking fingers at me.
I flinched, trying to keep my cool.
This was a routine. They would gang up and insult the crap out of me. If I was lucky, they wouldn't resort to physical bullying, but in the end, they would leave me alone.
“Piece of trash. 19 years of age and you still haven't awakened your wolf. Isn't that sad?” She continued her taunting, touching on a very sensitive topic.
My cheeks heated up in embarrassment, and tears started trickling down my cheeks as Ashley continued to mock me about the one thing that degraded me to the status of omega, the one thing that made me a stain in the Eldrath pack—my inability to have a wolf.
With shaky legs, I tried to shove past them, desperate to get away. But Ashley, in classic bully fashion, stuck out a foot. I stumbled to the floor, backpack flying open, books and parchments scattering everywhere.
“Why are you doing this? Can't you just leave me alone?” I tried to pick myself up, but I was kicked in the gut, sending me sprawling on the floor again.
“Worthless omega trash. I wonder why you even bother coming to our school.” Ashley rained more invective on me, and I closed my eyes, trying to zone her out when I heard a familiar voice in the distance.
“Leave her alone, Ashley.” The voice of my best friend warned. I looked up to see Tiffany standing next to me, glaring at Ashley.
“This doesn't concern you.” Ashley scoffed.
“It does now. Now leave, or I'll put you in your place right now, Ashley.” Tiffany’s eyes flashed a dangerous crimson, which could only mean one thing—her wolf was livid.
Ashley’s eyes held Tiffany's gaze, and the two continued to glare at each other. After a while, Ashley muttered a curse and walked away with her lackeys trailing behind her.
“Are you alright?” Tiffany asked, helping me get off the ground.
“I'm fine,” I said, picking up my books and stuffing them in my bag.
“You need to start standing up for yourself. It's because you're so nice that's why they always bully you.” She started to give one of her usual lectures on standing up for myself.
I loved her, but I didn't think I would be able to stand up to a bully who has her wolf. That would be suicidal.
“By the way, why don't you report her to your father? You're the alpha's daughter for goddess' sake.” She asked.
“My parents don't care about me, Tiffany. I'm an omega, remember? Let's just go home.” I replied, laughing bitterly at myself.
Tiffany stared at me with a concerned look before sighing, and together we made our way towards the pack. As we walked, I couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation. Sure, going back to my pack each day was akin to visiting a treacherous desert, but somewhere in that desert, there was an oasis that quenched my thirst with love and care. My heart beat eagerly, thinking of meeting him and burying my head in his embrace.

We arrived at the pack gates, and I immediately bade Tiffany farewell. Rushing to my room, I ignored the glares and sneers directed at me by the pack members and locked my door.
I dropped my bag on the floor and undressed quickly. Shedding my uniform, I walked to my wardrobe and rummaged through it before finding what I was searching for—a red lingerie.
"I…I hope he likes it" Heat crept up my cheeks as I slipped into the sexy lingerie and bra. Admiring myself in the mirror for a bit, I covered up with a robe and wore a pair of boots. The sun had begun to set, and the timing was perfect.
Taking a deep breath, I left my room with a single destination in mind—the Beta's chambers. Ignoring the judgmental glares and stares, I made my way silently until I reached the door to his chambers.
“He should be inside. He told me to meet him by this time,” I muttered to myself. Taking a deep breath, I knocked on the door. The rhythm of my knocking was a secret pattern he and I had agreed on previously.
I knocked once and didn't get a response. My heart beat wildly as I glanced around nervously, hoping no one was watching.
I knocked again, using our secret pattern, and this time, the door creaked open slightly, just enough for me to see a part of the room inside. I peeked into the room, and to my dismay, it was empty.
“Hello? Asterion, are you here?” I squinted my eyes and called out his name softly. Suddenly, a pair of purple eyes stared down at me. My eyes widened with fear,
and before I could react, a strong hand shot out, clamping over my mouth and pulling me inside while shutting the door.
“Calm yourself, it's me.” Asterion's smooth voice washed away my fears, and I breathed a sigh of relief as he removed his hand from my mouth. I turned around and looked into his unnatural but beautiful purple eyes; they seemed so ethereal, like stars twinkling in the night.“It’s alright. I'm here.” His hand found its way to my cheek, and I closed my eyes, leaning into his touch.“I’ve missed you,” I said, rushing into his embrace and clinging to him.“I know, I'm sorry it's taken so long for us to meet. I had to take care of some last-minute tasks your father piled up for me,” he explained as he stroked my hair.We broke the hug, and he scanned me slowly, taking in the red lingerie that peeked out from under my robe. I sensed his purple eyes darken with desire, and a blush crept up my cheeks.“You look…” his voice trailed off as he licked his lips.“Beautiful?” I offered, shyly playing with the buttons on his shirt.“Ethereal is the right word.” He grinned and closed the gap between
Seraphina POVAsterion? Tiffany?” Tears welled up in my eyes as I recognized the people making love right in front of me. I blinked my eyes, hoping this was just an illusion. I prayed that my mind was just playing tricks on me, but alas, it was real.My best friend, the girl who always had my back, and Asterion, my mate, the man I loved more than anything in this world, were making passionate love under the pale moonlight, completely oblivious to my presence. A searing pain pierced my heart, and I grabbed my chest with both hands as the tears dripped from my eyes. Never in my life had I expected this. I was the Omega runt of the pack, hated and despised by my parents and pack members alike. These two were the only people that showed me any semblance of love and care, which made this betrayal hurt like a physical blow, a knife to my heart that stole the air from my lungs.A sob escaped my lips, and all actions and sounds ceased at that point. “Who's there?” Asterion growled as he pul
Seraphina POVDarkness surrounded me from all corners. It was a void so deep and cold that it felt like I was sucked into a black hole or abyss. It was terrible. What made it even more frightening was the faces surrounding me and taunting me with their sneers and wicked laughters. The faces of Asterion and Tiffany.“Seraphina, you're worthless. You will never amount to anything in your life.” Asterion taunted with a malicious glint in his eyes.“You should just die, your existence is not needed on this earth. Die!” Tiffany sneeredI closed my ears with my hands, trying to down out the noises but their voice still reached me. Their faces twisted and contorted into horrible masks that haunted my consciousness even though I closed my eyes. “Leave me alone! Leave me alone!” I screamed as my heart pounded in my chest. Memories of their betrayal flooded my mind. Tiffany's remorseless attitude, Asterion's stoicism and his claws plunging into heart and killing me. It was as if I relived ever
Kovu POVMy heart pounded as I watched the coffin's lid burst open and Kaliyah emerging from within. The last time I laid eyes on her, she was on the brink of death. Our pack's best warrior was torn apart in the last war against the Eldrath pack. I wasn't able to make it back to the palace in time and I knew she died in my arms.“Catch her!” I ordered when I noticed her falling to the ground. Two of my men rushed forward and caught Kaliyah just before she collapsed to the ground. I marched towards them as they laid her gently on the ground and checked her pulse.“Is she..” my voice trailed off.“Yes…she's alive.” One of them confirmed with a look of disbelief. “She's still breathing, she just passed out.”I clenched my fists, trying to make sense of what I was seeing. Her body wasn't riddled with claw marks, bites and the huge hole in her heart was fully healed. Heck it looked like her skin was glowing in fact. What the hell was going on? How could she still be alive? The wounds she r
Kaliyah's POV Fogs of memories swirled in my mind as I slipped in and out of consciousness. These memories, I knew they weren't mine at all; they were the memories of the body I was currently in. They forced themselves into my being, imprinting someone else's experiences into my core until I didn't know who I was anymore. The fragments of memories continued to sink in, and as the final fragment merged with me, a cold sensation overcame me. It was the memory of how the original owner of this body died, but that wasn't what made me shiver in horror. It was a pair of cold purple eyes that stared down at me, and his lips stretched in a devious smirk. Asterion. In the memory, he had killed her in the exact same fashion as he killed me—a claw to the heart. A sick feeling of déjà vu consumed me, and I felt myself screaming out in terror. This was way too coincidental. “Ughh.” Finally, I opened my eyes and blinked against the warm light that flooded my vision. “Lady Kaliyah!” I heard
Kovu's POV I followed my father and stormed out of the room. I was so mad, the urge to punch something burned in me, but I was doing a rather good job of restraining myself. I stared at the broad back of my father as he walked in front of me. The praises of Kaliyah ringing in my head only served to fuel the fire raging in my gut. Punching him wouldn't have been a bad idea at all. Why on earth was he praising Kaliyah's return like some fucking simp? Practically worshiping her return? Because she was supposedly the pack's best warrior. It made me sick to my stomach. I could still hear his words echoing in my head: *Our pack's greatest warrior.* Preposterous. How could he ignore everything I've done? Everything I've worked for? I was his son, for Goddess' sake. *Mate, go back to her now, Kovu, she's our mate, and she needs us.* Kyrax had been howling in my head for the past 30 minutes, and I wished I could just shut him up forever at this point. *She's not my mate, Kyrax,* I
Kovu POV*Shut up, Kyrax,* I snapped back at him as I walked down the corridor. *I don't want to hear it right now.**Try all you want, but you can't ignore it, Kovu. The bond will keep pulling you back to her. You'll only make things harder for yourself.*Both my Lycan and I couldn't seem to come to an agreement, and I wasn't in the mood for a lecture from him. He had never been like this—so annoying and uncooperative—so I blocked him out as best as I could. The mate bond was already a heavy burden, and the last thing I needed was Kyrax reminding me of it every five seconds.I reached my chambers in record time and flung the door open. I stepped inside and began to pace back and forth, trying to work off my frustrations. Before long, there was a knock on the door, and before I could respond, it swung open and Daphne stepped into the room. She wore a see-through gown that gave me a good view of her ample breasts and delightful curves. Her eyelids fluttered seductively, and she swayed
Kaliyah's POVI yawned and rose from my bed as the glow of the full moon streamed through the curtains and fell on my face. Stretching my body, I was surprised to find that I was feeling very… energetic. The fatigue and weariness I had felt were gone, replaced by a newfound agility.I looked at the full moon, shining in all its majesty, and couldn’t help but whisper a silent prayer of thanks to the Moon Goddess.I searched for my Lycan, Akira, within, and I could feel our connection thrumming strong. It still felt unbelievable to me that I now had an inner beast and had finally realized my dream of becoming a shifter.I’d also noticed something else since waking up: I felt an extraordinary vitality coursing through my body, as if electric energy had infused every cell, leaving me feeling powerful. It was like…*Mana, the energy given to us by the Moon Goddess. It is what connects us to the earth and the moon, and it’s what makes the shift into our true forms possible. It’s the essence
Asterion's POVI waited, reclining with ease in the hot tub until the guards dragged Darius into my chambers. He was barely recognizable, his once hulking form now broken and battered, covered in blood and grime. He was slashed open in so many places it was a wonder he hadn’t bled out before reaching me. His wounds were healing, but his mana reserves were low, meaning it might take weeks before he could return to his optimal state.“My lord.” Darius managed a hobbled bow.I lifted a hand, dismissing the girls. They left without a word, and I watched as Darius hobbled unsteadily, barely managing to stay on his feet. The fool looked dreadful.“Explain yourself,” I said coldly.Darius sucked in a deep breath, and then the words started spilling out in a panicked, desperate rush. “I almost had them, my lord! I had Kovu on his knees, and Kaliyah—she was within reach, weakened. But then they used the beasts from Virethorn Glade. They overwhelmed me, tore my men to shreds. It was... ”“Enoug
Asterion’s POVThe hot water enveloped my body as I reclined in the vast hot tub. Steam rose in lazy tendrils, and my muscles unwound as I sipped from a glass of red wine. Its taste was as rich and bitter as the realm I sought to rule with an iron fist. All around me were women who wore next to nothing or revealing clothes, catering to my every need. One held a cluster of grapes, feeding them to me slowly, another held a bottle of wine, ready to refill my cup when it was empty.I grasped the woman closest to me, pulling her into my arms. She gasped as I let my hand trail down her chest, kneading her breasts and pinching her nipples. She gasped again, continuing to feed me the grapes as I indulged myself. The doors of the chamber creaked open, and General Vorn entered. I had mind-linked him an hour ago, after he’d arrived with my army from another conquest, instructing him to come and give his report. His armor was covered in the dust of battle, and in his hands, he held a thick scroll
Kovu’s POVKaliyah stopped in front of me with an unreadable expression. “Are you alright?” she asked sharply.I opened my mouth to retort, but no words came out. Her coldness surprised me, which shouldn’t have even been possible. I was supposed to be used to it by now, but why did I feel a searing pain in my chest just because of something that should have been the norm? Before I could gather my thoughts, Kaliyah knelt beside me, her hands moving to arrange the Irlai leaves around my wounds. They had come loose, barely clinging to my torn skin. I gritted my teeth and moved back slightly.“I don’t need your help,” I muttered. She ignored me entirely, securing the leaves with calm efficiency.“Just let her do her thing,” Calum sighed, rolling his eyes. “You’re in no shape to be stubborn.”“Shut up, Calum,” I retorted, clenching my jaw as I glared at her. She avoided my gaze, still silent as she reached for a small leather pouch on her belt. From it, she pulled more fresh Irlai leaves.
Kovu’s POVI swung my mana-infused claw toward Darius, but he was always faster and one step ahead. The clash still rang in my mind as every attack he landed sent shockwaves through my body. I gritted my teeth, pushing through the pain, refusing to give up.But then… everything stopped. My world became nothing but a blur of agony. My body started to convulse, writhing in pain. Darkness. Heat. Cold. My pulse pounded in my ears, and I couldn't even tell if I was still alive. Then, suddenly, I gasped, and my eyes snapped open. It took me a moment to adjust as I shifted on the rocky ground I lay on. The searing pain in my body didn't relent, but I forced myself to breathe through it.When my blurry vision finally cleared, the first thing I noticed was the sky. The sun was setting, painting the sky in glowing red rays that spread across the horizon, far from the dim gloom of the Virethorn Glade.I shivered a bit as a cold wind blew, but I realized I wasn't freezing.I looked down, seeing a
Kaliyah's POVMy breath hitched as I clung tightly to Calum's fur while he raced like a madman through the dense undergrowth of the Virethorn Glade. His body moved with a frenzy, darting and weaving past the grotesque creatures that lurched out of the shadows and away from the ones pursuing us from behind. He's hurt, our mate! He's hurt! Akira's voice echoed in my mind, moaning in pain as she called out to Kovu.My grip on Kovu's unconscious and still body tightened as I stared at him. Blood soaked his clothes, and his wounds were too deep and numerous. To make matters worse, his regeneration was slow to kick in. I had to place my hand on his pulse numerous times to ensure he wasn’t dead, as my mind swirled with one question:Why would Kovu, of all people, sacrifice himself to save me?It wasn’t logical—it didn’t even make any sense. We were sworn rivals, enemies even. He had always regarded me with such potent hatred that I doubted whether the mate bond had any hold on him. But now…
Kovu’s POVHis claws hovered above me, gleaming with deadly intent. I could barely breathe, struggling to keep myself conscious as I braced for the end. This bastard was going to finish me off, and there was nothing I could do to stop him.I gritted my teeth, my mind flashing with the image of Kaliyah. I was about to be killed, but at least I had stalled Darius long enough for her to escape. I stared at the claws, shining under the moonlight as dark mana swirled around them, and I closed my eyes, waiting for death.*We had a good run,* I reached out for Kyrax, bidding farewell to my Lycan. Kovu's POV*That little power boost still won’t save you,* Darius's voice rang through the mind link. *I’ve crushed Lycans stronger than you, Kovu. You should’ve stayed back at your pack like a good little pup and waited for your downfall.**Shut up!* I growled in fury. Without wasting any more time, I lunged forward with blinding speed, flooding my limbs with mana, activating Flash Step in the process. The ground cracked beneath me from the force of my launch, and I aimed my claws directly at Darius’s throat, my claws simmering with blood-red mana, sharp enough to slice through bone.Darius reacted just in time, bringing his front paw up to block my strike. His mana hardened around his paw into an impenetrable shield. My claws collided with his front paw, and sparks flew as our energies clashed, the force sending a shockwave rippling through the battlefield. I snarled, pushing harder, but Darius held firm, his muscles straining but unyielding.*Too weak,* he barked as mana flooded in
Kovu's POVThe first step to activating Bloodlust Ascendancy was to become one with Kyrax. It was a merging of our minds and bodies until we were a single unified entity. I had always crossed this stage before, but recently, I couldn’t even get through this stage without a painful backlash wreaking havoc throughout my body. Now, though, as I prepared to activate the first phase, something felt different. The connection between us merged seamlessly into something deeper and stronger. Something different. It snapped into place with a fluidity I hadn’t felt before. My muscles coiled with newfound strength as our energies began to merge, slowly at first, but then with increasing intensity. Kyrax’s instincts melded with mine, sharpening my senses, enhancing my strength, and perfecting my control over mana. The mana around me thickened, taking on a crimson hue, and flared to life like an inferno.*Kyrax* I called for him, my voice merging with his deep growl. This is unlike anything I had
