Kendall’s POV

Terrified, I dropped him and ran back to the tent but my mom and sister were nowhere to be found.

“Mom?” I called out.

“Are you there?”

I sighed, getting scared by the seconds. “Where are you?”

I thought I felt this might be a joke and her way of punishing me because of the way I spoke to her but I didn’t think that was it. There was no sign of her and how come I didn’t hear anything?

I wanted to come back and tell Mom about the mysterious man that died at my hand and all that. I was already changing my mind because his last words tallied with what that woman said.

I didn’t know if I was supposed to believe it or if it was still a trap but if it was it was becoming too believable and I was starting to believe all of this was real.

Maybe there was war coming and I might be the only one to stop it, the more I delayed the more people got hurt.

All of this didn’t make sense to me yet, it just wasn’t adding up. If there was going to be a war or something, why me?
