Declan’s POV

I wandered through the small town’s quiet streets, my mind racing with thoughts of Kendall. I had to find her, and more importantly, I had to make sure she didn’t run off the second she saw me.

It was a delicate balance.

I didn’t want to appear desperate or aggressive as she would think, but I also needed her to know that I cared, that I still loved her.

After grabbing a quick coffee at a local café near the woods, I decided to go out further, towards the outskirts where the town met the forest.

Kendall always loved the serene beauty of nature, and I had a feeling she’d seek refuge close by. As I went, I turned onto a narrow, winding road leading deep into the forest. The tall trees formed a canopy overhead, filtering the sunlight into patterns on the ground.
