Declan’s POV

As I carefully unfolded the letter Caden had thrust into my hands, I felt a knot of anticipation tighten in my stomach. But as the paper lay in my hands, it became clear that there was nothing written on it. It was blank. My brow furrowed in confusion as I glanced up at Caden, who stood nervously shifting from foot to foot.

“What is this, Caden?” I asked, my voice edged with frustration. “A prank?”

Caden shook his head vigorously, his eyes wide with bewilderment. “I don’t know, Declan. When those rogues caught up to me, one of them demanded that I give this letter to you. There was nothing else, just the envelope.”

My mind raced as I tried to make sense of the situation. The rogues had been a thorn in our side for months now, their attacks growing bolder and more frequent. But we had never been able to uncover who was behind them or what they wanted. This empty letter felt like a mocking message, a taunt from our elusive enemy.
