Chapter Thirty-six

Kendall’s POV

I sprinted through the darkness back towards Caden’s place, my heart pounding in my chest as adrenaline flowed through my veins. When I arrived, I saw him standing at the doorway, his expression a mixture of relief and frustration.

Entering inside the cozy living room, I was met with Caden’s stern gaze, his arms crossed in disapproval. He didn’t even have to say a word; the disappointment in his eyes spoke volumes. I knew I had messed up, and guilt gnawed at me like a relentless beast.

“Where have you been?” Caden’s voice was stern, his eyes narrowing as he took in my disheveled appearance.

“I needed some air,” I replied, trying to catch my breath as I leaned against the doorframe.

“Come on, Kendall?” Caden’s voice was low, but the frustration was evident in his tone. “You were supposed to stay hidden until we figured things out.”
