Blood suckers

Alex POV

" It's been centuries of searching,your highness, I think it's about time you chose a mate and a Queen for this Kingdom." One elder suggested and I watched as the old foxes all nodded in agreement.

I hate to sit down and listen to such stupid nonsense about choosing a mate.

" My decision still remains." I replied calmly and with authority.

" Everything is going on well, the kingdom doesn't need a queen." I added, my eyes regarding each and every member of my council.

They looked away, not in the least confident to look me in the face.

Choose a mate? Impossible.

" The kingdom might be prosperous but what's the need without an heir to inherit the position?" Lord Stephano asked and I had to applaud his confidence for challenging me so openly!

" He is right. Nobody knows what tomorrow holds and with the vampires…"

" Shut up!" I slammed my hands heavily on the table, my anger flaring up.

The mere sound of those blood suckers makes my sanity slowly dissipate!

I was about to lash at the elder who was unruly enough to bring that topic up when the door to the meeting room was pushed open, revealing Valeria.

I took a deep breath, trying to calm my nerves.

" Greetings your highness,I need to talk to you, urgently!" I could sense the urgency in her voice so without another word, I immediately dismissed the elders who left begrudgingly but dared not openly protest.

Inside the room, only Valeria and my beta, Leo, were left behind.

" Did you find the information I asked you to investigate?" Looking at her anxious face, I could only relate to the investigation I delegated to her.

Valeria slowly shook her head and I frowned.

" That's not why I came here. I sensed her." She said, her words making me stiffen.

I didn't know how to react to the news. I didn't want to raise my hopes again only to have them shattered again.

We have been on this search for hundreds of years and every time, I come back disappointed.

" Are you sure about this Valeria?" I inquired. Not like I doubted her skills, I just didn't want to go through the disappointment again.

" I am positive. The Moon Stone pack." She answered. 

The MoonStone Pack? How's that possible?

" I know you have your doubts but I am certain. Five years ago,my prediction settled on that pack." Valeria spoke but I shook my head.

" We went there and came back empty handed Valeria. How can you explain that?"

Five years ago, her divination sent us to Moon Stone pack but we didn't find her. The only thing I sensed was a lingering scent. It was special and my beast reacted to it but the then Alpha confirmed that no female was missing from that Pack.

Five years later, her divination was directing us to the same place?

Could she be wrong or was I the one who could not sense my mate?

' I can sense her as long as she is near us." My beast grumbled, annoyed.

" Send a word at once, I will be going to the Moon Stone pack when night falls." I instructed my Beta, Leo.

" Right away, your Highness!" With that, he walked away, leaving Valeria and I.

" Do you think I'll find her this time!" After so many years, so many efforts, did the Moon Goddess finally decide to end my torture?

" The chances are high this time." Valeria replied. Even she wasn't sure that I'd be able to find her.

Valeria has been with me throughout the journey of finding my fated mate. She was rescued by the late king, my father, from the woods where she was abandoned. Although she is a witch, she is a member of our pack and my closest friends if you exclude my Beta.

The reason why I never entertained the idea of having a chosen mate was always because I was still waiting, hoping and praying to find my destined mate.

She is the only one who can save me and my people from the incoming danger.

I don't know why the Moon Goddess had to tie my life to hers.

To me, it's more of a curse than a blessing.

I head back to my room, suddenly feeling the urge to be alone.

I could not help but wonder how she looks, how she smells and how it feels to have in my arms and make love to her.

I have waited for her for a hundred years.

Every day, every night, I long to hold her, to have her stand by my side,to rule by my side.

Finally it seems like the Moon Goddess decided to end my long wait.

Then my mind drifts to the recent attacks from the vampires.

For years, the vampires have been trying to find ways to overthrow the Lycans and rule the land.

My father died in their hands and that's why I have a deep resentment towards them. 

As the Lycan King, it's my duty to ensure the land faces no threat.

Having those blood suckers rule the land, who knows what kind of nightmare the supernaturals will live in?

" Your mate is the chosen one who will put an end to the darkness looming over the land. She will save us all." Those were the words from the Oracle when I visited her seeking her help in locating my mate.

I don't understand the connection between whatever danger the land is facing with my mate but one thing is for sure, I am excited to meet her.

I can't wait to claim her and call her mine.

Sometimes, I can't help but think that perhaps finding her will be exposing her to danger.

I have made a lot of enemies over the years but the vampires are becoming too much.

In the past, they would hide their tracks but recently, they have been blatantly provoking me.

I have to find a way as soon as possible to keep them in control.

I can't let anything happen to the people or my mate.

The Idea of losing her to those blood suckers sets my body on fire.

' I am capable of protecting my mate.' my beast growls, baring its fangs at me.

' Our mate, Danger. She is my mate as much as she is yours.' I growl back at him.

It's high time he learns that she will be our mate and not just his.
