18: Spotlight Shines Bright

Avery’s POV

A soft knock was heard from the door, I stood before Liam as tears streamed down my eyes. This was not the life I chose for myself, Liam abusing me at the slightest provocation like I was absolutely nothing to him.

Sighing Liam moved away from me before saying, “Come in.”

Maria walked into the room and was shocked to see me standing close to the wall looking like a war victim, her face grew pale as she carefully kept the tray of food on the table. “Lunch is served, Sir Liam.” she said softly

She refrained from asking about the problem, but I could tell Maria was crushed at the sight before her, the way her eyelids flickered was a perfect reason, but she could do nothing about it. Maria quickly exited the room and I knew it was going to be a long day for me.
