“We need to keep our distance from Hellebore.” Abigail told me as we headed to her room.

“I know she gives off weird energy. What is she anyway?”

“No idea.”

“It’s curious as she doesn’t give off a demon aura at all.”

“I agree, we will have to figure out what she is, especially if she is a threat to us. Do you want to give me a hand?”

“Sure, what do you need help with?” I inquired as she opened the door to her room and headed in.

“Just working on making more medicines and ointments.”

I walked into her room and unlike mine, which looked like my room from my apartment aside from the balcony and sitting area. Abigail's room looked like the inside of the cave we used to go to make her medicines and for me to preactice my abilities. The only difference was the bed on the one wall and the sitting area off to the side. She also had a bathroom and a smaller balcony.

She walked over to her workbench, and I followed.

“I need these mashed into a paste.” She stated as she handed me some la

Seeing Lazarus and Amaya walking down the hall, I walked over to them. I had been looking for them everywhere. “Where the hell have you been? We had guards searching for you all afternoon.” I asked Amaya. “She was with me, site seeing.” Lazarus retorted, annoyed. I glared at Lazarus before pulling Amaya into a hug. “Here, I thought something had happened to you.” I told her. My imagination ran away with me thinking the worst, thinking Hellebore had killed another of Lazarus’s love interests and with it my destiny. “I am perfectly fine. Did you get the gate issue sorted?” She asked, pulling away from me and changing the subject. I frowned, “We are working on it.” It wasn’t so much as a crack but a hole it was as if some creature had punched through one gate seal, luckily there was multiple in case of an incident like this. “I thought it was an easy fix?” She questioned with a worried look on her face. “It is in some ways and not in others, when a mystical gate of hell breaks it

I headed back to my room and readied for bed; I was exhausted. How could Hell be so draining? As soon as my head hit the pillow, I was out cold. I awoke in the middle of the night, and it was still dark outside. I still couldn’t believe how beautiful the sky was. During the day, it was a lime green, but at night it was a dark emerald. I sat up and looked around my room and turned on the light when I saw a shadow moving around. When the light flicked on, Hellebore stood at the end of my bed. “What are you doing in my room?” I asked her as her shocked expression shifted to a more relaxed one. “Sorry dear, guess I got turned around.” “You have lived in the castle for years and you got turned around?” I accused as my sleepiness left me and my guard went up. “Well, to be honest, I wanted to speak with you.” She smiled as she sat on the end of my bed. “What would you like to speak about?” “I want you to choose Lazarus, he has always been left out by his brothers and he has been so l

Amaya opened the door, looking rather pissed off. As the door opened, she snapped, "What?" “Sorry, I just wanted to see you.” I replied, feeling guilty. “Sorry, I am not a morning person, come in.” She moved to the side, and I walked past her and into the room. “How are you this morning?” I asked. “A little grouchy.” She laughed. She paused as if pondering something, then sitting down and picking up her coffee, she added, “I woke up in the middle of the night and you mother was in my room.” I sat down next to her shocked, “Did she do anything?” I asked, worried. “She was trying to decide something for me, and I told her that just because she said that’s what I should choose doesn’t mean I will. She didn’t seem too thrilled about it.” How dare she try to interfere with Amaya, I was livid, “I am sorry she bothered you, she is not someone who takes no for an answer.” “I picked up on that, but don’t worry, I am one step ahead of her.” Amaya smiled. “What do you mean?” “Don’t wo

I had spent the day helping Abigail with her potions and helping update her journals and books. I had just told her about my conversation with Hellebore and Lazarus this morning. “I wonder what she is up to.” She frowned. “I don’t know, but I am going to find out. I talked to Leviathan, and he is going to help me.” “Make sure you share information only with those you trust. We are in enemy territory here. Sin is trustworthy, but as for everyone else, be careful.” “I trust Leviathan and Lazarus; I know they don’t have ill intentions.” “I’m just saying, be careful. Even those with the best intentions make mistakes.” She had a point, if the witch trials were any indication. I should be more careful, I thought as I helped Abigail tidy up her workspace, Cana flew in through the balcony and landed on my shoulder, Abigail looked at small black dragon on my shoulder and smiled. “Who’s this?” She asked as she reached to touch Cana’s wing. “Cana, she is helping me.” I smiled. "Nice to m

Furious, I headed back to the throne room, Merula was supervising the fixing of the gate and Amaya was probably with Abigail. I hated to leave them alone in the castle, but I needed to talk to Magnus about what we had discovered, unless I brought them with me. Amaya can talk to dragons, so she wouldn’t be in danger. I looked around the room and motioned for a guard to come forward. “Yes, sire?” he asked, looking at the ground. “I want you to go to the stables, I want my nightmare saddled and ready to go as well as two well ridden and tame nightmares for my guests.” “Sire, wouldn’t a nightmare hurt your guests?” “Do it.” “Yes, sire.” He bowed and hurried from the throne room. I headed over to Merula. “Merula, I will be leaving the castle for a bit, keep an eye on things for me.” “Yes sire,” He bowed. I turned and made my way to Abigail’s quarters. I was about to knock on the door when Amaya walked out into the hall, running right into me. I pulled her into a hug and smiled, “s

As we neared the cave, the water changed from a pink color to a thick lava. It was as if an invisible barrier separated the two liquids. The air grew thick and hot and even the boat heated up. "Cana and Chusi, can you go to the castle and keep an eye on Hellebore?" I asked them. They nodded, "See you soon Amaya," Cana said before she jumped in to the air, flying towards the castle. When we reached the cave, Sin helped Abigail and me from the boat before grabbing a bag and leading us into the dark opening. Sitting in the corner was an older man, he had sharp features, his chin and ears were pointed, and flames sprung from his head, making his two curved horns stand out. When he saw Sin, he smiled and stood to greet him, tiny fangs poked out from his mouth and his eyes were black. “Sin, it’s so good to see you, and you brought guests, come sit.” He smiled. “This is Amaya and Abigail.” Sin replied as he introduced us to him. “It’s so nice to meet you. I am Magma.” “It’s nice to m

“We need to get back to the castle. I don’t want to leave Hellebore up to her tricks for too long. How fast can you pack?” Sin asked Magma. He left the room and came back with a backpack. “Packed.” He smiled. We climbed back into the boat, and Magnus and Sin rowed us across. After getting out, we headed to the nightmares. “We are short a nightmare.” Sin frowned. “Magnus can ride with me.” Abigail smiled and winked at him. Magnus chuckled, “Thank you.” We mounted and headed back to the castle. Amaya rode beside me while Abagail and Magma trailed slowly behind, lost in conversation. “Those two seem to have hit it off.” Amaya laughed. “So, it would seem.” I chuckled. Amaya was lost in thought and looked puzzled. “What’s wrong, my little flame?” Her cheeks turned red as she asked, “Would his hair burn her?” I laughed, “I honestly have no idea.” A while later, we reached the village surrounding the castle, people looked at us and whispers and gasps broke out among the people wh

I headed to my room as panic seized me. How could I do as she asked? If I killed Abigail, Amaya would never forgive me, but if I didn’t, I will die and leave Amaya unprotected against my mother. If I could get the vial of my blood from her, I wouldn’t have to do as she says as long as Amaya and Abigail can help me break the binding. If I told them what Hellebore wanted me to do, they may not forgive me for making a deal with her to begin with. They might understand that I did it to protect my brother, but I know my brothers would not forgive me either. I paced the length of my room, trying to decide what I should I do. Deciding my best bet was to talk to Amaya and tell her everything, I left my room and went to look for her. I had looked everywhere in the castle and could not find her. The last place I checked was the throne room. Seeing Merula, I approached him and asked, “Where are Amaya and Abigail?” “They left the castle with the King; I am not sure when they will be back.”

I was in shock, how the hell had history repeated itself, again I stood in a place I was unfamiliar with a creature that claimed I was his fated mate and belonged to him, and now I had an inconvenient passenger in my body. The Goddess Hekate had moved in and made herself at home. I pushed away from him, “what gives you the right to take me away from them?” He looked down at me with angry eyes. “I have every right to take what is mine, and you are mine.” “I am no one's property!” I yelled at him as my anger and frustration consumed me. I felt the goddess's power bubbling beneath the surface, amplifying my own as my surrounding began to shake and move. “Take me back.” “You think you can order me around,” He asked with a laugh, walking towards me.” “I am not asking. I am telling.” “Sorry, but no, I will not return to my prison in hell, and I don’t think you have the power to force me.” “The ring.” I heard an unfamiliar voice hiss in my head. I looked at my father's ring on my hand

“Your Satan, are you not?” Lazarus questioned. “I am, and you are standing between me and my fated mate. So, move.” Annoyed, he flicked his wrist and sent Lazarus flying. “Again, she is not your fated mate. She is mine and my brothers.” I pointed out, not believing I had actually admitted she belonged to Lazarus as well. He made his way towards us, “move out of my way.” He ordered. “We won’t let you near her, you will not leave this cave.” Lazarus snapped. He laughed in response it was deep mocking laugh that made my skin crawl. “You two demon spawn can try; you have no idea who you are messing with.” “I am afraid they have a point.” The goddess said, stepping out from behind us. “We can’t let you leave and cause chaos in the different planes.” He walked up to her and touched her face, “What is your name?” “My name is Hekate, but this body is Amaya.” “Do you really plan to stand between me and what’s mine?” “I highly doubt you would be willing to kill your fated mate.” She c

I followed Amaya into the darkness of the cave, my mind still reeling from the fight with Hellebore. I had never actually witnessed her use a weapon before and her transforming parts of her body at will was a little unnerving. Amaya’s reaction to Abigail’s death would haunt me forever. I wish I could have saved her from that pain. Personally, I liked Abigail and considered her my friend. I would miss her more than I cared to admit. “Can you see where we are going?” I asked Amaya, but the goddess is who answered. She looked at me with her eerie eyes, which seemed to stand out against the darkness, “I can see in the dark.” She replied, “besides I only need to follow Hellebores thread." “Her thread?” “Every living thing has one, it is one of Amaya’s abilities. I must say, it is quite handy.” “I have never been able to have a conversation with you before, now that we can, it feels weird.” I frowned. “I suppose it would be, I have never been in a host that was able to support my abil

I felt frozen in place, “Lazarus, kill her now, or else!” Hellebore threatened, barely controlling her anger.I pulled out my sword and moved towards Abigail, Amaya moved to stand in front of her.“Lazarus, you don’t have to do this.” She told me the look on her face was enough to break me.“Do it, or you will die in her place.” Hellebore hissed from behind me as followed me. How I hated my mother for everything, because of her, I have always been alone, even segregated from my own brothers.Angry, I turned and plunged the sword into Hellebore’s stomach, her eyes widened then she shook her head with a look of disgust on her face.I released the sword and backed away from her, waiting for the binding spell to take effect, but it didn’t I looked down at my hands confused, how was I still alive?“You, stupid, stupid boy.” She yelled at me as she removed the sword from her stomach. I followed the skeleton arms up the mountain, with the others following behind.“What do you see?” Sin asked.“There was a symbol on the stone back there. When I placed my hand on it, a bunch of skeleton arms popped up from the ground, pointing in this direction.” I explained.Sin frowned. “I can’t see anything, just an ordinary mountain trail.”“I can see it fine, not sure why, though.” I replied honestly.Abigail, Magma and I followed until we reached a river that cut through the mountain. Its pink water was steaming.“How do we get across?” I asked, debating if I should touch the water. “The trial picks up again on the other side.”Sin waded into the water; it wasn’t very deep. “The necklace I gave you should protect you, but I rather not risk it.” He frowned.“It doesn’t look too bad.” I pointed out, debating if I should test out the necklace.“I’ll carry you across.” He told me.A little leery I let him pick me up he walked across and me down on the shore and turned to head back

His hands ran down my arms, sending shivers up my spine. I placed my hands on his muscular chest and pushed him away. “I came in here to shower.” Smirking, I scolded him, trying not to show how aroused I really was. He quirked a brow at me, grabbing the soap from behind me and lathering it into a loofah. “Then let me wash you.” “Really, you are such a brat.” I laughed as he walked behind me and washed my back and ass. He reached around to my front to wash my breasts and stomach as he kissed and nipped my neck. A moan escaped my lips as he
