Chapter 2

The bidding adieu was more than painful with tears in everyone's eyes. Iris felt a pang of pain whereas Hailey was crying as if she was leaving for Mars. Even though by saying such words Iris tried to lighten the mood, she knew it was not easy. For the past six years, Hailey was with Iris and they became more like sisters. David had a long sullen face even though the airport kiss was long from Iris's side.

"I would be back soon," Iris whispered before pulling away from him. She knew it was hard to leave the thirteen years old homes that she made in the UK. In those thirteen years, she had never left the UK. But this time she had decided to visit her hometown.

Hailey waved her hand for the last time with David and leaned on his shoulder while looking at Iris's retreating figure.

"I am going to miss her," Hailey mumbled.

"Me too." David agreed and decided to leave the airport only when the flight would take off.

Iris settled herself near the window seat. The sky was still dark as if the clouds were angry for some reason. She knew her journey would be long so she chose to open the book Brida by Paulo Coelho to read.

Almost after 10 long hours, Iris's flight landed in Seattle bringing goosebumps to her skin. She was excited to see her old two-story building and her father taking care of the garden her mother made with her own hands. She was excited to see her old childhood room and her leftover memories. Seattle's weather wasn't good either. She looked through the window and saw it was raining there. Keeping her book in her backpack she grabbed the coat to wrap around her body. Taking her luggage from the luggage belt the moment she stepped out of the airport a strange cold wind hit her body making her shiver to her bones. Even though Seattle was quite cold during winter and the UK also had its fair share of coldness, she could still feel some strange sensation while standing at the departure.

"Maybe it's been thirteen years and that's why it is looking weird," Iris told her inwardly after taking a long breath before stepping outside. In the meantime, she had already dropped two text messages to David and Hailey's contact numbers who were worried to know her safe and sound arrival in Seattle.

Grabbing her luggage she walked towards the paid cab booking area to get a cab. Dropping the address to the driver she relaxed in the back seat throwing her head on the seat.

Barely for a few minutes, she could close her eyes, as an ongoing uneasiness started engulfing her. She opened her eyes to enjoy the scenic beauty of her childhood hometown. The city wasn't big but it had a separate calmness to allow anyone to leave peacefully.

The road through which her car was moving had dense forest on both sides. Even during the daytime, one could see the darkness inside those forests. She tilted down the glass of the window to let the cool breeze hit her face a little. Seconds passed her eyes involuntarily closed while she was resting her head on the seat. She could see herself walking inside the forest looking for David as he kept on irritating her making her search for him.

She called out David's name to get him faster but the thicker forest made that difficult for her. She ran towards the sound of crushing leaves thinking that David was running from there but found nothing after reaching there.

"David ..." She called while standing in the woods and looking around when her eyes caught a dark shadow a few meters away. It was all black and was more like a rock without a single movement.

"David...." She called again while walking towards the darker shadow but halted at her steps when the shadow moved a little. The dark object seemed coming toward her and she chose to take back steps due to the fear of facing the unknown. Seconds passed when she noticed something more than the shadow. A pair of shiny golden orbs flashed like a thousand-watt bulb. And the next moment the shadow jumped towards her making her fall to the ground when a painful yelp left her mouth.

She jolted at her place with a screeching sound and found herself sitting in the back seat of the car.

"What a weird dream." She asked herself and saw the cab come to a halt.

"What happened?" Iris asked the driver who was opening the door to go out.

"No sure mam. Maybe some issue with the engine or battery. Let me check."

The driver stepped down from the car and walked in front to open the bonnet. Iris looked around and found a similar sort of woods around beside the road that she had seen in her dreams.

"Crazy subconscious mind." She laughed a little thinking about her mind. People often see such dreams that were imprinted in their subconscious minds.

She was also experiencing such dreams. Brushing her thoughts away she opened the door of the car to come out. The darkness didn't fade, rather it grew more. Inhaling a sharp breath she decided to just walk around the road.

"Mam. Don't go inside the forest." She was just taking some steps here and there when the driver warned her.

"Is it wrong any time?" Iris asked.

"Nothing as such. It is not just our territory." The driver didn't speak much but she couldn't understand the meaning of it. Who would mark a territory? As per her thoughts, only the government can mark. Then?

She chose to avoid the topic in the meantime to enjoy the moment. Her hair blew along with the wind's direction. A rich cologne hit her nostrils as she closed her eyes to enjoy the breeze. But a sudden silence followed by a large growl made her startle. Abruptly turning her head towards the woods she tried to figure out the source of the roar.

"What was that?" Involuntarily those words came out of her mouth when she noticed something passed through the woods at the speed of a Cheetah or Jaguar. Her slow possessed footsteps decreased the distance between her and the woods bringing her to the end of the road and at the opening of the forest.

Her eyes tried to spot the black shadow that she saw moving abruptly from one corner to another. Another step and she touched the first large pine tree to lean forward. A weird sensation hit her hard. She could feel some pairs of eyes on or around her but she couldn't see them with naked eyes. The sky above was getting dark. A few drops of rain poured on her head and before the thunder roared for one more time she was taken aback by a sudden feared voice.

"Mam......come back...." She was about to enter the deeper forest when the driver called her back.

"Oh. The engine is fine now?" She asked him and he nodded, opening the door for her. She withdrew her hand from the tree and walked toward the car to get inside. The moment she turned she felt something move away behind her but she didn't dare to look back. The entire area looked spooky and dark.

"What sort of sound was that?"

Iris broke the silence during the drive and the driver looked stiffened at his position.

"Nothing mam. Some wild animals. They have been here for thousands of years."

"Oh. I see. I have just heard stories during my childhood. It's been thirteen long years since I haven't visited my hometown." She tried to normalize the situation knowing that something was off.

"Thirteen is an unlucky number. But never mind, you are always welcome in your hometown." The driver passed a genuine smile while driving as fast as she could.

After half an hour or so the cab arrived at her doorstep. Paying him the exact fare she took her luggage and placed it in front of the main door.

At first, she thought of calling her father after landing in Seattle but later she decided to surprise him just by appearing at his doorstep.

Iris stood there while looking at the small garden her mother made. It was still the same, just a few new flowers were added. Knocking on the same wooden door she kept herself mum for a second. Nothing had changed much in those thirteen years.

"Come in." The same deep voice of her father was heard as she giggled a little. Her father didn't expect to see her at his doorstep so he replied casually.

Her heartbeat ran faster as soon as she heard the sound of unclicking the lock. The door opened and a man in his mid-forties appeared.

"Dad............" She jumped on him immediately without saying a single hello or hi. For a second her father was shocked but somehow managed her daughter's weight to carry in his lap when she jumped. Iris wrapped her hands around his neck and legs around his waist just like a five-year-old kid. She did the same thing she used to do in her childhood.

Her father Mr. Tyler Lockwood was shocked but later looked at her daughter's sudden act. The luggage was a clear indication of her staying for more than a day. The way she jumped it was clear she came to surprise him only.

"I miss you, dad." She placed a soft kiss on her father's cheek when her father patted her head and finally looked at her face. It was one and a half years back when he saw her last. She grew up more like her mother. She has the same icy blue eyes as her mother and golden brown hair as her father.

"Why are you here?" Her father asked her without dropping her on the ground while looking at her face.

She felt an invisible painful slap on her face. As she thought her father would be happy, the sudden question of her made her cry almost.

She climbed down from her father's lap and looked at him for a second before speaking.

"Don't you like that I have come? Didn't you want to meet me?" Tears welled up in her eyes as kept on looking at her father with enormous questions. She had expected him to be happy and excited but what she had received was some coldness and a tense face. He was having creases on his forehead too. Slowly he walked past her and grabbed her luggage from the doorstep to put them inside before closing the door.

She still didn't understand what went wrong as she kept on looking at her father who placed those bags inside and hugged her suddenly rubbing his hands on her back to soothe her.

"Tell me whose father would not be happy seeing her daughter back in his life?"

Her father's whispering painful voice brought a lot more confusing questions for her. She hugged her father back and heard him saying something.

"I miss you princess but this place is not safe for you honey."

"I miss you honey but this place is not safe for you honey." Iris froze at her place when her father's voice boomed in her ears. Slowly breaking the hug she looked at her father's face and tear-filled eyes. There was fear and a lot more care in them. What she couldn't decipher was the meaning of his father's last words. Why would her hometown be not safe for her? "Why dad?" She asked, shocked. "You won't understand now. But..... Princess..... " He couldn't complete it when a sudden knock on the door interrupted them. "Did someone see you when you came here?" Her father asked, panic-stricken but Iris couldn't understand what he meant. The airport security had seen her, the cab driver, and a few more people also. She couldn't be invisible to just come straight to her house. "Dad... What do you mean by someone? There were people....." She couldn't finish her words when the knock was heard again and this time an inpatient voice too. Someone called her father by his name. "Tyler, Jer

Iris came upstairs to find her old childhood room. It was the same as when she had left. There was nothing much that had changed except the window. The curtain was changed and she could tell it was his father's Choice. The room had the same familiar smell and old warmth which she missed a lot. Placing her bag inside the room she climbed on the bed to lie down. Looking at the ceiling she could see those old neon stars she had plastered long back. At the night hour, they were her constant companion. She made a whole new sky to watch before falling asleep. Hours passed and her father kept his conversation in a real low voice. Iris couldn't eavesdrop and she chose to be ignorant on the matter. Leaning close to the cupboard she opened it to get some glimpses of her old memories. Only she knew how much she had missed that place. It was never easy growing up in other countries but she chose that. After a certain time, she decided to take a long warm shower to relax her muscles. In the mean

Iris covered herself completely with the duvet as soon as his father left the room. If she followed what her father just said, that meant someone had entered her room. But how would she ever be able to make someone understand? There was no proof that a man was there in her room. Even if he was, why couldn't she shout or move her body in the first place? That meant it was only a dream. "The city is not safe for you." Her father had been saying the same thing since she had come. There was always a concern in his voice. The fear started to take over as this was the first time she had such a terrible nightmare. David was the last person she had contacted before going back to sleep. Without wasting a single moment she took the cell phone from the nightstand and opened the message inbox. "I am coming back to the UK by tomorrow's flight." Typing a single message she hit the send button and waited for his reply. Within a few seconds, the reply came from David's side. "Is everything fine?

"No matter what, you would run away from here and won't look back at me. He is here." Iris didn't understand a single word of his father, that was said to her. She didn't understand why her father would suggest running away when she could simply drive back to the airport. There was no such reason to ponder over a single matter like that. It was utterly the driver's fault who had eventually blocked their path. She watched her father taking the car backward as those two men who came down from the car started walking towards them. That was the first time she noticed their features. Both of them were tall and muscular enough to tackle any sort of fight. They looked similar yet a little different. One of them ran his fingers through his thick brown hair while walking with a playful smirk. He looked a bit older than the other one. Before Iris could say something to her father, she noticed he had already

"Say goodbye to your dad." Iris's blood froze as she clutched Leonard's hand more tightly with fear. Fear of losing her loved ones, her only family. "No... No... You said you won't hurt him... No .....dad....." She started screaming hard while trying to remove his grasp from her body. "Shhh..... You shout too much. Your dad is going back to his actual place. Your sweet home. Don't worry." The moment his words got finished grabbing her senses, she could see her father being held by three men. He knelt on the ground but his eyes were fixed on her. "Leave her, Leonard. She means no harm. Let her go." His father screamed for one last time when Leonard passed him an ugly smirk. "Your daughter has exchanged her life to save you. Don't you think you should be proud? At least you should be happy seeing her accepting our rules." Iris unde

Struggle. All she could do was struggle while lying on the car's surface being tied up like an animal. There was no hope left for her as the man in front squeezed out every single element of it. Her big doe-like eyes filled with tears could only plead at that moment. The journey was short-lived since she gained her consciousness back. After a certain minute, the car came to a halt. She understood the destination had arrived. The door was opened by another man who bowed his head to show gratitude to Leonard. Placing his foot on the ground he fixed his suit. Iris was wondering for how long she was unconscious. As Alex and Leonard, both were back in their new expensive suit and none of them held any further features of a wolf. "We have got a guest here. Hope she will like our treatment." Leonard was the first person to speak while looking in front of the bunch of men standing t

"Seth put the collar around her neck and bring the chain to me. I want my pet to crawl." Iris's eyes snapped open when her brain registered those words. She looked at the man's face who was sitting on a leather chair making it look like a king's appearance. His face held no sign of emotions. All she could see and feel was fear and pain right at that moment. His clenched jaw, extremely glowing golden orbs were passing nothing but chills down her spine. She could no longer take it and when her eyes shifted at her right hearing footsteps. She found a man coming towards her with a black collar that had small rings around to attach any sort of extension. "No... No... You can't...." She started scooting back fearing the material Seth was holding in his hand. She could feel her body shaking in utmost tremor. Before she could move back more, a harsh pull at her arms made her stop. "Strip. My men want to enjoy you." For a second Iris thought the time stopped at that instance. All those hateful gazes turned into some hungry lustful one. Those overly masculine men encircled her, making her shiver more under the heated gaze of Alpha Leonard. One statement and hundreds of those creatures started taking steps towards her. Even if a single person of those men touched her most brutally, she won't be able to make it up to being conscious let alone survive them all. Leonard sat silently watching the show that was happening in front of him. The mere human creature was standing on her feet with scraped knees, bruises in different areas, and above all a huge trail of fear in her eyes. She was breathing even though her heart dropped in the pit of her stomach. She barely understood what Leonard's words meant. If he wante

When Iris slowly fluttered her eyes open, she felt someone had kept boulders on her eyelids. There was so much drowsiness and heaviness that she felt to go back to her previous peaceful previous slumber. She didn't want to just keep on staring awkwardly at the ceiling. "So, you are finally awake." A little mocking yet deep voice was heard by her before she could escape reality. Her head was tilted sideways and all she could see was the devil giving her a different look at her condition. "You......" She didn't finish her last sentence remembering vaguely all those past incidents. The moment her mind captured the situation where she was badly bitten, her hand involuntarily moved towards the swell. "Ah...." A small hissing sound left her mouth when her hand touched the area and a small drop of tear left her eyes to roll down her cheek. Leonard was sitting on the couch placed a bit away from the bed, resting in a relaxing manner. But his eyes didn't leave her figure even for a second.

"I don't........" "What did you say?" Leonard let out a dry chuckle asking her the question. "I don't....." Iris spoke maintaining the same authoritative tone. "You are highly mistaken...." Leonard took a step closer to her making her flinch. "If you think....." He took another step closing the remaining distance in between them. "that your opinion matters." And thus he grabbed her throat in his tight grip giving it a scary squeeze to make her realize who had the ultimate power to take the final decision. "Pardon Alpha, you may......" Leonard tilted his head towards Jonathan who immediately closed his mouth being scared of dying a painful death in his hand. "I know her words or acceptance doesn't matter. But I wish to hear her sweet voice accepting her defeat in front of me." Leonard turned his head towards Iris watching her face going red due to lack of oxygen. Bringing his mouth close to her ears he whispered seductively to scare the shit out of her. "If you say yes, the proce

Iris was sitting in front of a mirror where two women were trying desperately to hide all her bruises caused by those tortures. Luckily that day Leonard didn't hit her with the vase made of glass. He threw it in such a way that she thought it would hit her face but apparently it smashed just beside her. Even just by remembering the situation, she could feel the hairs on her neck getting straightened up. "It should be like this. Cover that dark patch..." Iris's daze broke when she heard the girl who was helping her with the dress show the leftover unattended mark on her body to the other one to cover. "Oh. Yes. I miss that. There are too many." A dry laugh left Iris's mouth when she heard the reply of that girl who was fixing her condition. After thirty or more minutes those two girls left keeping Iris alone inside the room. Minutes passed when she heard a knock on the door and she didn't dare to spare a glance knowing that it would be her tormentor only. "Iris...." A female voi

Iris I always had a dream of marrying the man whom I would love with my heart and soul. I always thought to be in the arms of a man who would be the reason for my happiness and the cause of my well-being. I have always seen my father mourning my mother's death and I have also seen his love for her. I believed marriage is a sacred bond where not only two body becomes one but two souls entangled together. My man was always David since I started attending my classes in the UK. It was not because we had started dating each other, it is because we knew we are the reason for each other's happiness and betterment. "Dave..." A whisper left my mouth as I sat on the floor inside the room that was allotted by Alpha. I didn't even know what is this stupid mating ceremony or marking until I hear some whispers. The first person I could ask was the maid who was attending me since I started more time lying on a bed being injured. But one particular statement inflicted more fear in my system than Le
