Great, only one hour and forty-five minutes until ten. Maybe having shorter hair wasn’t such a bad idea. I supposed in hindsight shorter hair made the getting-ready process a lot less painful.

I started grew anxious as I thought about the events of the last few days. I couldn’t remember anything, and it was torturing me. I tried recalling any memory, but no such luck. This is just crazy.

I put on my green tunic dress. It had a low neckline giving a sneak preview of my breasts. I looked at myself in the mirror, with my new haircut. The tunic hugged my figure. Normally a bit loose, today it felt tight, and my belly was poking out. Must be all those pancakes from earlier! I loved wearing this dress for the short length and the shiny color.

I walked to the club, which meant I’d get there on time; I’d be too early if I took the bus. It was the middle of summer, so it was still light out. It’d get dark as soon as I arrived at the club. As I walked the blocks and busy streets, I observed e

  • Bloodbound Desires   Eva

"Fuck! I'm going to be late again!" I exclaimed, frustration dripping from my words like the sweat trickling down my forehead. My heart pounded like a drum, each pedal stroke a desperate plea to defy time itself. The city streets morphed into a chaotic kaleidoscope of lights and sounds, blurring together in a disorienting frenzy.Tonight, the stakes were higher than ever, and the weight of responsibility bore down on me with an unforgiving force. The club where I toiled tirelessly was undergoing a profound transformation, its ownership changing hands. Robert, the previous owner, had shockingly decided to sell it. The club, once a cherished family heirloom, was being passed on like an abandoned relic.I couldn't help but reminisce about the days when Robert's brother reigned supreme over the club, exuding a passion and dedication that filled the air like a contagious energy. But with his untimely demise, Robert's love for the club seemed to wither away alongside his sibling. A profound

  • Bloodbound Desires   Nocturna

My heart raced with a mix of excitement and nervousness as I made my way through the vibrant club,Nocturna. It was an explosion of the senses, a world where music, lights, and energy collided. The dimly lit space was adorned with neon lights that bathed the walls in a kaleidoscope of colors, casting an enchanting glow on the sea of bodies swaying to the pulsating beat. The air was thick with the intoxicating scent of perfumes, alcohol, and a hint of sweat—a heady cocktail that added to the allure of the place. As I weaved through the crowd, navigating past groups of friends immersed in laughter and couples lost in their own worlds, the energy of the club surged through me. The anticipation built up within me as I approached the bar, my sanctuary, my stage where I would become the life of the party. The polished counter stretched out before me, gleaming under the glow of the overhead lights. It was where I shone, where I mixed drinks with flair and charm.Tonight, Des, Sebastian, and S

  • Bloodbound Desires   Office!

As I stood outside the office, a cocktail in hand, I hesitated before knocking on the door. “Come in!”The voice inside had already called me in, indicating that my new boss was well aware of my presence. It was no surprise, really, considering there were cameras everywhere. Feeling a mix of anxiety and anticipation, I glanced around to make sure no one else was nearby and finally entered the room.Closing the door gently behind me, I found myself in a dimly lit space. The darkness was suffocating, triggering my claustrophobia and causing me to tremble. Just as I began to struggle with my discomfort, a voice broke the silence and a light flickered on in the corner of the room, revealing my boss sitting in a chair."Do I make you nervous?" he asked, his voice cutting through the tension. I couldn't see his face clearly yet, but the sound of his words sent shivers down my spine."No, it's not you. I've always had a touch of claustrophobia since I was a child. No idea why," I rambled, r

  • Bloodbound Desires   Casino!

Standing outside Moonlight Manor Casino, I felt like a complete stranger. I should head home and forget about being here. It had been months since my last visit. With finals looming, I had to put a pause on my usual routine of studying and working. This place used to be my sanctuary, observing the high rollers and their wins or losses. It always gave me a thrill, wondering if they would cash in their chips and walk away, especially at the roulette table.Sometimes, I considered gambling to be the most dangerous addiction. I once calculated that at least ninety percent of the big winners never made it out alive. They eagerly collected their chips, dreaming of the riches they would acquire, but within minutes of that roulette wheel spinning, poof! Their hopes and money vanished into thin air.I remembered a guy who hit a million but lost two. The poor soul looked like he wanted to die. He was a young guy with his newlywed wife, proudly sharing their honeymoon plans and how they would ma

  • Bloodbound Desires   Nora

"Eva, why are you sitting here in the dark?" Nora's voice broke through the silence, bringing me back to reality."Not in the dark. I'm watching Game Night to cheer myself up," I replied, my voice lacking enthusiasm. Nora settled down next to me, and I glanced at her, trying to figure out the time. It must be early since she usually left around eight in the evening. We often locked up together, and on Saturdays, we sometimes wouldn't get back home until six in the morning. But with the sun still hidden, it had to be much earlier than that. She grabbed my spoon and started devouring my precious tub of Haagen-Dazs. Normally, that would have bothered me, especially since it was the last one, but after the night I had, I felt numb, devoid of any emotions."So, what gives? Why did Haagen-Dazs come out, and why did that one movie you hate become the answer to your prayers?" she asked, nudging me gently.“Yeah, you’re right this is supposed to be eaten on special occasions. The price is near

I woke up to the gentle rays of morning sunlight filtering through the curtains of my room. Still feeling groggy, I stumbled my way to the kitchen, with only one thing on my mind, coffee! As I reached the kitchen, a small envelope caught my eye, beneath the door. I picked it up, and then put it on the workspace, thinking about my mission of drinking as much coffee as possible. After, the machine got to work and started brewing, I realized that the name on the card was mine.I took it and unfolded the paper and read the contents, my breath catching in my throat.Subject: Warning of Legal ActionDear Eva Rivers,We are writing to inform you of the serious consequences that await should you choose to return to Moonlight Manor Casino. • Bloodbound Desires   Nora

Nora had two management classes still to repeat. She didn’t pass when they graded our papers, so she had to repeat the whole semester. She went to her friend’s house for some notes, because she missed classes while looking after me. I gazed around the apartment for the first time since all this happened, and noticed it was immaculate.Everything was in the right place. It’s not messy! All the old, scruffy pillows were replaced with new embroidered ones. I lifted one up, admiring the beautiful design. Where have I seen this symbol before?I glanced at my watch. Shoot, it was eight and I hadn’t had a shower yet. I ran the water and stepped in. The first thing I did was reach back to let my hair down, but when I felt my new short bob, I realized I needed to get used to not having to do that anymore. It had been comforting letting my long hair loose after a hard day. Normally, it would take an hour to prepare, including washing, conditioning, and the painful hair-drying experience. My who

  • Bloodbound Desires   The phone

I checked on my side table for my phone, never realizing it was switched to silent. In that time, between three in the afternoon, whenever I woke up, and now, Xavier called at least a dozen times.I sensed panic in his voice when he answered. “Didn’t Nora call when I woke up?” I asked. “She did, but she said you were confused. I tried maybe two hours ago, then figured you needed rest. Should I come over?”Right now, for some reason, he was the last person I wanted to be with. “No!” I blurted. Wow, that was weird. Normally, I wanted Xavier with me twenty-four-seven.What was it with all this fucking paranoia? It was doing my head in. I needed to explain to Xavier why I didn’t want my boyfriend—soon-to-be live-in partner, future husband and father of my children—with me at this precise moment in time, when I was so vulnerable. I’d answered his concern for me with negativity, so much of it I just shouted through the phone at him. Why?“Have you seen Nora lately?” I asked, changing the

  • Bloodbound Desires   Hungry

Holy cow! Nora made pancakes and everything. She never cooked breakfast. Nora was more of a grab-a-bite-and-go girl. I’d never seen her in the kitchen for longer than five minutes, unless it involved microwaving popcorn, pizza, or leftover take-out.“Since when do you know how to cook?”“I’ve always cooked,” she replied. Nora pushed a stray hair behind her ear. Wait…is her hair tied back in a bun? It sure is. When I woke up, her hair was down. Her hair was always out, since she loved showing off her blonde curls, especially because it was natural. The girls at the club always teased her, asking, “How much did you pay to get your hair that color?” Or, “It’s amazing what you can get from a bottle.” She’d swat at them playfully and say, “Blondes have all the fun. Well…natural blondes do anyway.”I felt like I was being suffocated. I loved Nora, but something was not right. It was not adding up. My stomach rumbled, distracting me as the food started to whet my appetite, making me feel as

  • Bloodbound Desires   Feeling groggy

I woke up feeling groggy, like someone had hit me with a baseball bat. I rubbed my head checking if I had a bump or something that could make me feel so bad, but instead, I was greeted with a warm smile and several locks of blonde hair hanging in front of my eyes, belonging to the girl lying next to me.“Hey, sleepy head, I thought you would never wake.” Nora. She joined me in rubbing my head, like a caring mother after their child hurt themselves on the playground. As she tentatively attended to me, I could see the love and care in her eyes.“I feel rough. I’ve either got a really bad hangover, or someone ha—” I didn’t finish my last words as I made a mad dash to be sick. I just made it. I wiped my face, and as I looked up into the mirror, I nearly jumped out of my skin. I looked like something from a horror movie. My pale and gaunt face made me appear like I had not eaten for weeks, which was not true, judging by the contents of what I just disposed of in the toilet. I kept touchin

  • Bloodbound Desires   The bar...

As I stood behind the bar, Xavier gave me a wink. He did that at the start of each shift. It was our secret message to say we were closing up the club for the night, and after, he was opening me up. Normally, I would feel excitement when he did that, but tonight, the fear seemed to be taking over my body and mind. I nervously winked back at him and carried on with my shift.Later, Nora came up to me and said the most surprising thing. “All my nightmares are over. Des’s back.”I stood in awe and watched him as he glided up and down the bar. Hadn’t he disappeared for weeks? Didn’t she see him with another woman? Foremost, didn’t he dump her nine months ago? I just didn’t get it. After all this time, he came back and acted as if nothing ever happened? The strangest part was he looked good. I mean, he looked a lot stronger, just a little pale. If I didn’t know any better, I would say he had the same complexion as Xavier. Then I watched in confusion as Des cracked a joke with someone. One

ON the Little did I expect to find myself face-to-face with the elusive big boss. He exuded an aura of power and authority, yet beneath that hardened exterior, there was a vulnerability that drew me in like a moth to flame. My heart fluttered, eager to explore the depths of his enigmatic world."Well, well, well," I said, my voice laced with a hint of mischief. "I never thought I'd have the pleasure of meeting the elusive big boss himself. You exude power and authority, but I have a feeling there's more to you than meets the eye."He raised an eyebrow, a playful smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "And what makes you say that, Eva?""Oh, I have a sixth sense for dete
