chapter four

“How long have I been out?” I asked Emmett, who sat by my side in a voice I couldn't recognize; my throat felt itchy.

He paused before he answered.

“A week.”

“Fuck!”

“Cool your hot cheeks a few hours after you fainted.”

“And do not swear in your Wolf lord’s face.”

I was too weak to respond to that.

“Where am I?” Now taking in the bedroom that looks like something that was owned by a royalty.

“Just know you're in a safe space.” he stood up to leave but turned to me, who lay on the bed.

“I'll be out for a while, you need to get some rest. I stopped you from passing to the afterlife. It was my only way of paying you the favor of bringing me home, please don't be my burden I've got things I need to put in place and I'll be back when I know you need me”

“What? You shouldn't leave me in this strange place all alone. How will you know when I need you?”

He inhaled deeply

“You're now a new being. We're synced. When you need me, I will know, and likewise you, you can count on me.” and with that, he left.

I trust him. I'm an idiot but fuck that.

**********

Claw City, the legendary city that sprouted the Wolf legends that birthed the Park of Great Wolf, was on fire.

It went wild into the thick Forest, seeking to turn it Into ashes just as they had turned him to.

He was the last of his kind, the most powerful, the most dreaded.

He was pissed at his people.

He was back for revenge. One person, the woman he called his lover, had betrayed him. Although he knew she wasn't there anymore, he would extend his wrath to the last of her kind.

He will take no mercy on them

“Please forgive the mistakes of our forefathers and spare us from your wrath.” Lucan, the Alpha of Claw City, pleaded with Emmett, who had the whole high wolves at his feet.

Most of them were in their wolf form for their helpless defense, while some were in their human form, ready to claim the pain they had seen upfront.

“My enemy lurks within this Park, the last blood of Kayla. Only if you bring her to me, I may spare you.”

“It was said that Kayla's last blood held a great piece of virtue. She requested for her lover's ashes to be given to her as the reward for handing out her lover, Emmett, to the Alpha of their time to slay. They had it all these while, and maybe, along the way, they sold it to the hands of strangers, like the humans.”

“Please, master, the people who had your urn know Kayla's last blood. You should go get your answers now for we know nothing.”

Lucan continued to plead, but they fell on Emmett's deaf ears; he had waited long to make these people suffer. When he looked at their faces, he saw, in his eyes, the people who betrayed him by killing him.

He saw his murderers.

Because they felt intimidated by him, they burned him alive.

He was about to bring down the Park house in great flames when he heard someone call out his name, putting a pause to the thrilling show he was about to start up

“Emmett.” The familiar voice called out for the second time.

In the midst of everyone in the throne room, she walked up to the throne he sat on. His fiery eyes had stopped glowing bright red the second he set eyes on her.

She had shifted, Into her wolf.

Emmett had turned her to his kind.

He knew her thoughts.

He felt her pain.

He saw sadness in her eyes.

“You died, I couldn't let that happen.”

“I had to share my blood with you to keep you alive.”

“You shouldn't have. I never asked you to help me, Emmett.”

She fell to the floor just like the rest of the wolves.

“You didn't even think about how I would feel.”

She turned to her back; men and wolves were on the floor of the throne room just as she was. Only that they were shaking in intense fear,

she turned back to Emmett, it was him they were scared of.

“These are the people you said you wanted to reunite with, why do they look scared of you?”

She took a long pause; everything realized after he had given her no response. He sat with an unclear facial expression.

“you lied, didn't you? You tricked me.”

“These people deserve no mercy, they're cruel. They seek to kill me because I possess the powers of the Originals. The urn was where my ashes were kept till you released me.” He stood up and strolled from the throne to hold Rose.

She let him. He reached out to her soft furs and caressed them. She leaned in.

“I'm sorry I lied, Rose. That was the only way to hasten my journey here.” He looked her in the eyes.

There was a brief silence; they stared into each other eyes.

“You're one hell of a beautiful wolf. I'm sorry I turned you in to be one of my kind, I had no choice left. I'm sorry I lied to you,” he said, putting on his usual smirk that Rose loved so much; she never told him.

It's the satisfaction of the way she looked at him that made him do it more often.

He wanted to take her to a safe place, away from the park house, away from everyone and everything. He reminded himself that he never owned her, Yet.

While they still held each other, two people made an appearance in the room filled with frightened wolves and two lovers at the front of the throne.

“I knew this day would come.”

Rose turned her head swiftly, she recognized that voice
